  • Do you tend to carry stress in your neck and shoulders? Do your neck and shoulders seem to tighten up all the time? Does it feel like your shoulders are up to you ears and you can’t relax them down? Maybe you sit in front of a computer all day. Maybe you commute with heavy bags. Maybe you carry your child around. Perhaps you play a sport that puts stress on your shoulders, such as baseball, tennis, or golf. If you have a tight neck and shoulders, but can’t find time for self care, this fast and effective exercise is for you. Take just 2 minutes and follow along with me. Notice the difference before and after. It’s a great little trick that you can use anytime, anywhere to release your tight neck and shoulders.

    I stretched weirdly as I sat at my laptop, felt my shoulder seize up in the most horrible way, held my neck in the ugliest position as i quickly typed neck massage into youtube and found this video. I thought I was going to have to keep my head at a 45 degree angle for the rest of the day but in this short video I was able to release that awful tension. My neck and shoulders thank you. wow.

    Hi Rachel, I was wondering if you have any videos already published on how to alleviate spine pain? If not, would you be able to make one? I have a lot of tension in my upper back and that leads to pain in my spine. I really enjoy your headache and neck videos :D

    • @rachelrichardsmassage9660
      @rachelrichardsmassage9660  5 лет назад +1

      We would need to be more specific about what is causing pain in the spine. Is it scoliosis, poor work ergonomics, disc herniations, stenosis, osteoarthritis, degeneration, etc, etc? Different conditions call for different treatment approaches. In regards to upper back tension, that is often caused by the "computer posture" so commonly seen today. From a postural standpoint, to alleviate the upper back, it's usually best to focus on lengthening the pectorals. You can give my shoulder self massage a try: ruclips.net/video/Siy6MfLg5Mg/видео.html

    What should you do about pain that feels like it's under your shoulder blade? Or would you need a second person? I have pretty bad scoliosis and have to move heavy objects around at work and it starts to feel like there are air bubbles under my shoulder blades and like in my spine near my shoulders. I've had other people be able to massage them out but is it possible to get that on your own? This helped but not quite in the right area or should I reach further down?
    Sorry lots of questions

      I can't give you an answer to that, since I don't know you, but I can tell you that it's not uncommon these days for younger people to experience neck and shoulder issues. This is often a result of sitting for long periods of time and hunching over our devices.

      You can try using a tennis ball or lacrosse ball and leaning your back on it against a wall. Shifting your weight will shift the area of pressure. For more pressure, bring your feet forward a bit and lean your weight back. For less pressure, bring your heels closer to the wall.
