These guitars are absolutely killer. Wish they would do a version people can afford
Greg S Yes more cheap versions of guitars always.
Suhr did the Guthrie govan Rasmus. I loved mine, still find them on eBay now and then.
You could easily reach 90% of the potential of this instrument by modding a stock San Dimas, after all, this guitar is just a San Dimas with roasted not-too-fancy woods, side mounted jack, old style two pole floyd with rounded bridge pieces, locking tuners, heel carve, custom pickups, custom switching, coil split. Most of the cost of the guitar is in the time consuming stuff like careful handling of the neck while fretting it with stainless steel frets instead of nickel and wiring the coil split tones for outer and inner coil settings the way GG uses them.

iNfx1 Bit wrong. They customized the FR so it can accommodate the compound radius. It's one of a kind bridge
This dude has got a massive set of balls on him.
Always loved that guitar, the playing here is wonderful ❤
I have bought one a couple of weeks ago. Truly fantastic guitar. Through my Victory Countess and Earl it screams!
You are so talented. Always excited to see you play!
>Cost
I sold 3 guitars, including a 96 Custom Shop Strat so that I could have a Basswood version. I was tired of crushing on them online. Had to have one!
I learned that, when you pay that much, it's actually worth it. It's the most stunning guitar I've every played on all facets.
>Appearance
Personally, I love the way it looks. It can be Metal, it can be Jazz, it can be Fusion/Jazz.
It really can lend itself to anything.
Bought mine via Music Zoo, and I have to recommend them: they treated me like an actual human.
All comments are intended to be understood as "Strictly My Opinion".
Don Starnes Definitely a guitar I wouldn’t mind paying full pop for. They are amazing!
You know that the guitar is not worth a € 3.300 / $ 3.900 quality wise, if you compare it to other guitars?
Guthrie's name alone puts up like € / $ 1.000 on that price.
Even though it's still a fantastic guitar, and not unimportant, one of the best looking guitars imo. But it's not like you 100% pay for the quality, you pay a lot for just the marketing with these signature models (this goes for any signature guitar though). But if you're a fan of Guthrie, love the looks of the guitar and have the money, this guitar is still worth it ofcourse.
Honestly, I would argue that it is worth that.
Everything on this guitar is of such a level of quality that it's quite stunning, and I'm comparing against my two CS Fenders (one of which went away for this one).
The woodwork, the frets, etc, etc. I could go on for a couple of hours.
Just to sit and hold it, feel the quality is nearly sufficient to the price.
Also, if one uses Music Zoo, they have the 2017 models for $2,999.00.
Yeah, it's obviously still a quality guitar. And one with great looks as well. And lets be honest, a good looking guitar wants you to pick it up and play, which also makes certain guitars "worth it" over others.
Bertram Hilhorst And Gibson Les Pauls and Fenders are never overpriced right...... Imo this is an amazing bang for the buck
I absolutely LOVE the numbered tele style knobs with the inlay reference dots on the body - beats the heck out of using the usual set screw as a guide to where I am on the volume and tone knobs!!
I bought one of these last year (flame maple top version). Although it is a little on the pricey side, it is a tremendous guitar. Plays so effortlessly and covers pretty much any musical style. When I gig, it is the ONLY guitar I use. I bring a backup, but that guitar usually remains untouched.
Richard.....exquisite playing by jingo!!!
Geoff Tate
Yes jingo is good.
The bridge sounds so sweet
5 years on… I bought one - caramelised ash second hand for £2k. Still not cheap but it’s worth every bean I paid. Outstanding in every way 🎸
Great playing
smooth whammy bar work. Just the right amount.
Came for the solo, got to learn it note by note !!
I so want this even though I have the previous version
Quality demo. Just wish they would have informed us of the amp, settings, and signal path into the DAW. Otherwise splendid demo!!
Stainless steel frets are the best feature on this beautiful one :)
Sound and play killer
Can't think of an adjective to describe this playing. Tasty doesn't cut it. Instead I'll just say DAMN!
Awesome neck on that one.....the first portion had a Jeff Beck vibe...
Nice
I think it would be very helpful in these reviews (which are excellent) to indicate which amplifier/plugin the guitar is playing through to get a slightly better impression of the tonal characteristics of the instrument.
Absolutly fantastic, creamy browny sound looks like a dream
I love mine.
Brilliant
Sweet!
When he was with Suhr they did a rasmus version for about £1,200 . Sounds great and play nice too. Maybe charvel will do a cheaper model also
Great mixolydian picking!
That bridge!
Man an SE kinda version of this would sell like fuckin hot cakes
Greg S ...why?
Charlie Bolland cause hes an idiot. He has no good reason.
J D because it’s a fucking lazy sell. Keep quality guitars of quality. It isn’t $400 just because they don’t feel like selling it at that price. It isn’t the same Guitar. Save up or stick with a squier and quit complaining
Christian Castellanos
Because absolutely everyone can afford that kind of purchase no matter what. Right.
Fabián Riquelme its not meant for everyone...its for specific quality. There are other guitars in the lower price ranges that will do the job if you need a lower cost one
Intro sweet...sounded like some Jeff Beck vibe....great key changes

İts amazing bravo!!!!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Hm, so a vintage brit style amp, with alnico pups, meet with basswood and maple (caramelized) would produce this kinda sound somehow... be it with guthrie or demo here... other variable would be picking power and left hand fingering I suppose...
Dope playing !
Who is that playing? He's a freaking monster player.
i belv thats martin miller, i cant tell becoz of his signature licks
Amazing!
Can anybody tell me beside Guithre G what influences this guy has !?!!?? That would be very helpful
This is sounding stupidly good... damn.
Love the thicker body. It's like a strat with a lespaul thickness. sounds great. Too bad I could never afford haha
Can you drop tune this trem without killing the setup? Is that why it is weird?
I think his models come with a tremol-no installed so you can lock it down only to drop tune. At least his Birdseye model had that factory installed when I first tried one
What amp did you use for this demo? 🙂
There is alot of guitar in this, I dont think a cheap version can be made ,its like trying to make a cheap version of a Porsche 911 I dont think it will be a Porsche anymore.
Well..... except the Cayman came out and was a better car than the 911...they had to detune it so it didn't smoke it! lol
Very good point. 👍
Guitars like the Harley Benton fusion and the Ibanez AZ come close for under $1k, but the GG guitars have so much detail that comes from higher build costs.
How much $?
This guy sounded like Vinnie Moore at first!
Richard I didn't know you could shred
Just out of curiosity, what's the suggested retail price for this Guthrie axe? Any ideas? Ballpark?
Google is your friend
I'm in love with this guitar, the flame maple top version calls to me. Over 4K though... maybe if I sold a kidney and donated sperm until I almost die of dehydration I'd be half way to affording it, haha.
What amp/fx?
I like the guitar, but I feel it's overpriced just because it's a signature model. You can buy a custom Suhr guitar for the same price and the workmanship will probably be better.
THE premier Amish Superstrat ..
It's got some nice spank to it.
The bridge pickup sounds excessively dull compared to the other pickups.
How boring
