- Hello! Thank you so much for watching my Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded highlight / condensed reactions video. This was originally streamed on Twitch and has been edited exclusively just for RUclips. I was very skeptical starting this because of its reputation, and I thought the first two and a half hours were so painful to watch. But the ending WAS SO GOOD. I know that I did not look like I enjoyed it lol but I actually kind of did. I love the bond and the friendship between Donald, Goofy, Mickey and Sora in this game, and also SORIKU!!!
Thank you so much for watching this video and I hope you enjoy it! Appreciate if you could leave a like, comment and subscribe to the channel if you haven't to make your boy here happy! Have a great day, everybody!

♡ ABOUT THE GAME ♡
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep is an action role-playing video game developed and published by Square Enix in collaboration with Disney Interactive Studios for the PlayStation Portable, serving as the sixth installment in the Kingdom Hearts series.
The game utilizes an overhauled battle system different from previous games in the series which features new elements. It is a prequel to the original Kingdom Hearts, taking place ten years before its events. The game centers on the journeys of Terra, Aqua and Ventus, characters briefly featured in Kingdom Hearts II, in their quest to locate the missing Master Xehanort and protect the worlds from creatures known as the Unversed. The player has access to the three characters' different scenarios when playing.
♡ ABOUT ME ♡
Hi, I'm Skye! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
Welcome to the place where we would laugh over some bad dad jokes, talk about books & anime, shrimp over good looking lads, get emotionally attached with fictional characters & cry our eyes out when we lose them. I am obsessed with RPGs & Souls-like games, and I often get immersed in their fictional world. I'm also all about story-driven games and character depth.
I mainly stream on Twitch and I use this channel to upload my edited highlights. Some of my favorite games are Final Fantasy, Bloodborne, Dark Souls, Kingdom Hearts, Xenogars, Xenosaga, Xenoblade Chronicles & Trails series.
Hope you guys enjoy the videos and come catch me live if you'd like to hang out with me & the rest of the community! ♡

hello everyone! i finally got re:coded off the list 🤣 as for dream drop distance, pls give me some time to edit since it's also quite a huge game.
and also, reliving this whole KH experience reminds me of some tweets that i discovered a year ago about the soriku vs sokai stans. i just wanna say that yes i love soriku, but i'll never attack or dismiss sokai stans. you ship sora and kairi? that's cute! you do you, homie! shipping is supposed to be fun, as long as it's not toxic and weird ✌🏼
see you all in dream drop distance! ❤️❤️❤️
A datascape is a digital landscape of sorts. If a landscape is a "place in land", datascape would be a "place in data". Basically, a datascape is like a virtual simulation of a place. They used that word a lot in this game in a confusing way, when they could've just said "the simulation" instead. But I guess they didn't want to dissociate too much the virtual world from the real world since travel between both is possible in the game's universe. Like other people said, it's the same as Tron's world or the virtual Twilight Town.
"A book...known as the ancient Book of Prophecies."
Oh yea, buckle your asses into your seats, we reaching X/Unchained X/Union X territory now, baby.
THIS!!! the reason why i didn't cut that scene out 😜✌🏼
woohoo, time for the weirdest game in the series! when I watched this originally I was low-key hating it until the ending, but watching it again a while later I actually found the whole thing pretty delightfully stupid. I love that you get to see a version of sora who has this level of supportive friendship from the beginning, and how much it builds his self-confidence to have everyone cheering for him the whole time. seeing how different donald and goofy treat data-sora really shows how far their friendship has come since KH1. I also was surprised how much I enjoyed seeing him interact with the disney characters! arguably the best part though is grandma maleficent not understanding computers while pete is inexplicably a master hacker
yes exactly! one of the things that i like about this game is that the friendship development of sora with mickey, donald and goofy. and of course, *cough cough* soriku....
I LOVE Kingdom Hearts but man watching this movie during my playthrough of all the games was torture. I'm trying to get my fiance into the series so I know I will have to get to watching this AGAIN and Im already dreading it. HAHA the only thing that saves it for me are the Soriku scenes. But those 3 hours around those scenes are AGONIZING. I completely understand how impatient you were watching this until the Castle Oblivion scenes.
When I finished the hollowbastian scene I was practically throwing a party that it was FINALLY over. And when it kept going I died a little inside.
LMAO it was definitely a torture! i was like "what the fuck is going on?" the whole time! but honestly, the last 30 minutes of the game were just awesome, but i don't think it's necessary to make a new game just to show that last scene lol.
Re:coded is always such a delight to watch streamers go through because the first half ends up being largely uninteresting stuff, the second half comes packed with several gut punches, basically none of it matters in the grand scheme AND you get "They put bugs in him!", all in one neat package.
All that aside, the actual game itself on the DS was a remarkably comprehensive KH experience with plenty of depth, to be frank. The Roxas reveal was also more impactful there, since there was no voice acting nor any clue as to his shoes and, iirc, the first time you actually *know* it's Roxas is when he pulls out his Keyblades.
HAHAHAHA THE BUGS! but yeah, i've seen the gameplay video on youtube and i think i might have liked it a bit better if i actually played the game though.
- Something to know about coded is that it was originally an episodic mobile game. That may be why each chapter feels more lengthy than normal.
- Oh yeah, Alice has her more modern VA this time (Hynden Walch). I think this is also the first time we hear the Chesire Cat's voice in KH (Jim Cummings, who was also his original VA).
- Think of the datascape like the memory-built worlds from Chain of Memories. There are special worlds and entities made of memories, data, and dreams, though really any of them can be the same at any point.
- ...You know, I didn't really notice before how much Hercules towers over everyone else. Even Cloud looks stubby next to him!
- "Date escape". Of all the things we could hear from Maleficent, snrk...
- Things gaining hearts out of nothing has actually been present in the series from the start, starting with Pinocchio. And it certainly won't end here.
- "Book of Prophecies" - and thus begins the Lost Masters Saga (overlapping with the Dark Seeker Saga, I know).
- It's the Re:coded version that added the visions of Namine, Team Days (Sea-Salt), and Team BBS (Wayfinder) - as well as "Signs of What's Next" (the scene with Mickey and Yen Sid). The last scene, "Destiny", however, is a new addition in 2.5 ReMIX.
Re:Coded has a fun story, especially from the last world onward, the best new game plus of the series and it'll always amuse me that it takes place essentially during the credits of KH2
I also liked how the gameplay took you through a different genre of game for each world
yeah i've seen the gameplay on youtube and i was surprised that there's a turn based battle system there!
THEY PUT BUGS IN HIM
since the game doesnt explain the premise about the journal very well and throws it at the viewer way too fast, it just gets people really weirded out by the concept of it and they dont take the rest of the game seriously (also because of the kh1 padding of the first half of the game before the castle oblivion part, due to the fact kh coded was on the fucking flip-phone, hence the repetition and the weird pacing) which is most of the reason why people hate recoded's story. but the concept of the journal is actually very simple to understand, since it's a recurring element in the series and we already saw it twice or more before recoded. remember winnie the pooh's book? remember the virtual twilight town roxas was in at the start of kh2? or the space paranoids tron world in radiant garden? all of these worlds are all comprised of information which when put together can create a world and brings it to life, be them information on a page creating the pooh book, or information via data which creates a digital one. conceptually, they are the one and the same entity in how they work and operate, all of these can house creatures with perfectly functioning hearts, like tron or pooh, and messing with the information affects the world the data creates too. so, the journal works exactly like those do, just that to actually enter it, since it's not a magic book and also the content was tempered with by naminè, a computer is used to translate the written information into digital ones. this will also be important with the book of prophecies, which works the exact same way, just on a much bigger scope. this entire concept of "written fictional stories brought to life" is also a wonderful concept that perfectly fits with both how disney works, taking fairytales and making them real, and how kingdom hearts as a series takes disney stories and makes them real on top of it. the concept of fictional stories and reality is even a major theme for kh4 too!
i really like how you said that this was kh1 but with a twist, because its basically what it really is, except the twist isnt per se the digital stuff, but the fact this is a redo of kh1 where riku and sora never actually were fighting, but actually helping each other! and also... kairi, who was really important to kh1's story, is nowhere to be found and almost gos unmentioned. lol. it also is a way for us to aactually see riku and sora interact in a more natural way, since the only time we ever got to was at the end of kh2. so by using data version of them, we get to see how actual sora and riku normally interact, and as you noticed it almost seems like flirting all the time lmao.
WAIT HOLD ON! IT WAS ORIGINALLY ON FLIP PHONE???!!! 😱😱😱
@@skyeifer it was, nobody told you?? i swear, your chat really needs to step up their game. so yeah, first there was kh coded on the phones, so fliphpones and the lik around 2007-2010. this is the reason the story at the beginning is very slow, redundant and shallow, since it was an episodic game. when sora and mickey say goodbye but then 3 minutes later they remeet again, it's because that was the end of the episode that was released at the time. you can notice many weird "mini-endings" or arcs in the story because of how it was conceived for phones. i think the kh coded for phone is for the most part also lost media too because it was for old ass phones! people are working to recover it for documentation. anyway,kh recoded is the remake done for the ds, which has actually a really indepth and generally well liked gameplay compared to birth by sleep or dream drop, it's very ironic lol! and then they took the cutscenes and made it into a movie, and having just those really makes it clear that they are generally of a lower quality because of their probably throwaway importance back when the game was on the phone, especially at the first half lol.
@@Fannintendociccio1 nope! my chat always wanted me to figure out on my own, which i totally appreciate! and when i asked some questions they usually would answer with grin emojis 🤣🤣🤣🤣 cos they all know that i don't really like when someone lore dumping in my chat.
@@skyeifer i do get it, and im glad they dont spoil stuff! but telling you "headsup these cutscenes and dialogue and pacing are like they are is because the game is from flip-phones" isnt lore dump, just justifying why the game isnt as good/different than the rest!
@@Fannintendociccio1 nope! they just told me that it's the most disliked KH game 😇
Data Roxas attacked Sora because at this point in the story Roxas hates and resents Sora because Sora is the person who ruined Roxas's life, The only life that Roxas ever knew where he was manipulated into believing he couldn't feel human emotions where he found the two people in his life that genuinely made him feel happy, that being Xion and Axel, a life where Roxas was constantly told how he isn't supposed to exist and feel human emotions to the point where him and his own friends fought each other, Roxas is constantly trying to get answers and find out what makes him so special all while people like Axel constantly kept secrets from him in an attempt to protect him from his and xions inevitable fate of having to go back to Sora who they are a part of since they can both use the kingdom key and have memories that belong to Sora but at the same time they formed their own memories, Roxas was forced to kill his own best friend Xion by his own hand which Xion knew was necessary for Sora to wake up, even Axel sacrificing himself just for Soras sake which all made Roxas resent Sora since everything and everyone in Roxas's life was sacrificed all for a boy that Roxas didn't even really know, that being Sora, Roxas felt like he didn't have a home anymore because the only home he ever knew was brutally ripped away from him unintentionally by Sora which clearly had a dark and depressing effect on Roxas and you can hear it in Roxas's voice whenever he speaks to Sora in Re Coded because at this point in the story Roxas hates his ass and Rightfully and Understandably so which I feel manifests the best in KH2 where you play as Roxas and experience his life falling apart right in front of him and then you take control of Sora for the rest of the game to where you go to the world that never was and you as Sora have to fight the dude you were playing as at the beginning of the game, since data Sora and data Roxas are based off of the real Sora and Roxas means that anything they feel the real Sora and Roxas feel as well, you even got DIZ being racist towards nobodies like Roxas and Namine by telling them how they can't feel human emotions after they've been forced in a situation they honestly never asked to be in, Sora is an amazing person who would never have wished all this upon Roxas don't get me wrong but if I was in Roxas's perspective then how could you not hate Sora? Even just a little bit? Your life is destroyed by a boy who you don't even know who is constantly being considered as more important than you all while your life is being sacrificed for his sake all while constantly being told you were never supposed to exist, this is what was going through Roxas's mind, This is all why in both KH2 and Re:Coded Roxas shows up towards the end of the game and tells Sora to square up, to be honest? VERY understandably so
I'm not usually the type to skip cutscenes unless I've played a game a dozen times, but re:coded was one I skipped through to focus on enjoying the game play.
I'm looking forward to seeing how dream drop distance confuses you lol, it's one of my favorite kingdom hearts games but it's got some crazy stuff
hello hello! the gameplay looked really fun from what i saw! as for dream drop distance, that game.... confused me even more lol but that game really made me even more of a soriku stan dang it hahahaha!
@skyeifer fr fr, I wasn't even actively shipping them until I played DDD, like i acknowledged the shipping but I didnt participate, but dang that game converted me. them bi*ches be gay. They can't even last 5 minutes without talking about each other and professing their devotion
This game is hella underrated! The story isn't as good as 358/2 Days, but its still really good!
And imo, the gameplay of Re:Coded is way better, or at least more fun, than 358/2 Days
