I really wish they made cutscenes for the boss battles. They were really fun to fight. Olympus was also really interesting with its turn based combat. But I also like that it brings up how this is part of the data that DiZ and Namine left
Its pretty fun playing coded while watching this! Coded is a fun game, the combat is just like bbs and 3d, and the platforming is pretty interesting. Im glad i kept my 3ds after all these years. The bugged riku battle was surprisingly tough! There were three full phases, and bugged riku used his ansem-riku moves from kh1, and threw blox around like it grows on trees. It was a lot more difficult when i did it because i had used all my healing items in my command matrix (command deck) and couldnt re-equip cure (because i had taken it off for the keyblade-less portion agshshw). I havent made it to the second riku fight yet, but im having a blast! Btw, listen to the coded soundtrack, we be sleeping on it HARD. "Pretty pretty abilities" is a certified hood classic Coded gets a lot of flack for being a "filler" story, and the only kh game that one can "skip" in theory. But to me, it adds such a harsh-tinted layer to the whole of kingdom hearts, and specifically sora. Data sora is very unlike the sora we know at this point in the story. Hes the version jiminy wrote down in his journal, and thus the sora he and the rest of the team see when they look at him. Hes carefree, fierce, kind and helpful to a frankly concerning degree, hes very loyal, and takes the world on his shoulders without a second thought and barely a question. Hes so.... perfect? I think is a way to describe him. IRL Sora at this point is cocksure, confident, and brash, but still kind and loyal to a fault. When pete and maleficent were being threatened in the datascape, IRL sora would have gone back in to get them out, because hes not cruel like that, but i dont think hed be as concerned as data sora was. Furthermore: its interesting the differences between sora's reaction to xemnas and roxas in kh2, and data sora's reaction to roxas. Sora is dismissive and brash towards the nobodies, while data sora is accepting. As youve seen in 3d, sora follows in his data counterpart's footsteps and learns to accept roxas' existence as an individual despite everything, as he should I think its so worth noting that data sora and sora arent the same characters, and have very different experiences and arcs. Data sora is sora, but he's also not, and i think thats very cool :) Im glad you stuck through it all despite its pretty slow pace and re-hashing. Coded still shows its worth to the series, in spite of it all :)))
Im sure chat told you before but Mickey is the dialogue guiding you at the beginning and end of kh 1. It just wasn’t voiced because Disney wanted as little time of Mickey in it in case it failed badly. It would have been nice tho 👌🏻Felt that with the butchering what you read tho😭 this game was really fun to play on the ds but the movie only really gets interesting towards the hollow bastion area imo. That being said I love seeing data Sora’s development of character. Recoded sets up data worlds in a way, it gets expanded upon in later games. Some of my favorite life lessons are from data sora and namine. The whole bit about riku not letting the outside forces win and everything he touches makes him stronger, or the pain and hurt being able to tear you apart alone but it must be accepted and handled head on sometimes relying on others for help. Mickey also looks high on that clip 😂 As someone with chronic pain and ptsd issues it really is true to a phenomenal degree. Problems don’t just go away, and unfortunately we cant just destroy things as an anger output😅. Sora’s the same everywhere he goes, he grows the same too. Even just his reaction to riku being like “you need to escape while you can” is so much of a sora growth line.
Yeah I've heard the gameplay of this was actually good but unfortunately the story wasn't the strongest in my opinion like you said untill they reach the Hollow bastion area. I enjoyed the ending though even though i didn't understand it at all at the time 😂.
@@StringoYT tbf everyone hated 358 gameplay but imo the gameplay was fine, it was the graphic that I wasn’t a fan of. And tons of people hate com/recom. Kh is definitely an interesting series, it spans 2 decades and incorporates some part of every game. I mean props nomura😭
So this game was originally a Japan exclusive mobile game released in parts under the name coded, before becoming a DS game, hence Re:coded. The gameplay is considered really fun but falls short on the lore, especially with how they cut out stuff in the HD collection like with 358/2 Days. From the start it was never really a recap as the missions were completely different from the first game and had its own storylines and mini games that you had to play to progress. Still it gives some big reveals like the first mention of the Book of Prophecies in the Dark Seeker Saga, previously only prevalent in the χ Saga which was a JP exclusive at the time. As well as the concept of people being reconstructed after the demise of their Nobody and their Heartless, which I assume is of the Emblem variety since they’re the only ones capable of releasing captured hearts. Oh I should also point out we have seen Data Worlds before in KH2. Roxas spent his summer vacation in one. This game will be referenced repeatedly in the future as well so it’s not really filler.
The reason they had to do this Data Sora first was because of the dangers of the memories as Naminé said, since they were such powerful emotions going into your heart all at once they could overload an break Sora's heart if he wasn't ready, so Data Sora's role is to serve as an emotional crash test dummy (Congratulations, you understand hurt) So that way if data Sora was able to handle the memories then real Sora would be ready to face the real thing in the near future
Coded is square walking to Nomura and saying they needed a KH game for Jap only phones. For what it was it's actually really impressive what they were able to pull off back then. Story wise he just wanted it to be a celebration of what KH was by that point. There are alot of wholesome moments in here, but there are only handfull of cutscenes that are important for stuff going forward.
So I’ve been a huge KH fan for years and I’ve never watched Re:Coded and I still understand everything in the series 😅 I know the important parts of it tho lol
The end of KH 2, Re: Coded and Birth by Sleep linked by a letter
Awesome

I always love the cutscenes between roxas and sora in this game. 'My first and last....summer vacation' gets me every time.
Yeah i liked those scenes.

Yeah it's pretty cool in RE:Coded you get to find out what the message inside of the bottle said in kh2.
The secret ending was after kingdom hearts 2.
27:27 badass mickey

He's got bugs in him!

Next is dream drop distance
Some of the ways Roxas words the lines about forgetting people honestly feels like he's projecting his feelings about forgetting Xion onto Sora.

Yeah was basically a recap game for the most part 😂
27:37 Mickey, you have a keyblade!
Literally a Key that can unlock any door and he doesn't use it 😂
59:17 nearly a hundred times, but I feel like that's on me
Lolz I never realized Iago was a bird with a beak and teeth!😆 I cannot unsee now. Thanks for ruining my childhood 😅
🤣

I mean you didn't miss much 😅
New subscriber, glad you are feeling better
The only Kingdom Hearts game where no one cried
😂
Please remember to block when you play KH3 please
I'm regretful I watched it all on stream. I could've been making money and instead I watched this useless game. Do better Nomura.
The game itself on DS is actually pretty fun, it's just that the story is terrible.
😂
