Agreed. I've never understood the reason Tom doesn't get *far* more subscribers - the quality, professionalism, concision, and clarity all scream for more viewers.
Thanks for all the reviews. Really appreciated your earlier Highlander Hybrid review which verified our impression of the vehicle. We just purchased a 2024 Highlander Hybrid LE Nightshade, a lot like the Bronze you tested. Nice car at a decent price, especially since my wife didn't want any of the upgrades from the XLE and higher. That "emergency-only" 3rd row was just what we needed.

Agree to test-driving 3-6 vehicles before buying new. However, doing extended test drive without any sales staff onboard is my best way to focus on the vehicle pros and cons. One dealer balked, so I walked. Also best is to rent for 24 hours but beware rentals seem scarce. Guess i could ask dealer to take it home overnight.
Starting to hear about replacement battery cost in kia reaching 65000. They apparently are easily damaged in accidents. replacement cost exceeds value of vehicle so they are totaled out. Really enjoy this presenter, always fun with useful information.
Motormouth channel out of Canada reported on two instances of this happening recently. They were Hyundai's, not Kia. It's pretty shocking stuff. They showed invoices from the dealership and Hyundai even responded stating that they're working on improving their battery repairability and replacement costs.
@@theMLBfanyeah it's a bad SOP by Hyundai Canada for not having the process to verify whether the batteries are actually damaged or not. The current SOP given to dealers to change the whole battery even for just surface damage is ridiculous

@@DrivenCarReviews ..awesome. eyeing a cx-90 turbo preferred/preferred+... oh, and I think I meant Mitsu Outlander PHEV...but regardless, Mitsu is on life support unless they can hit 1 out of the park with a new-New Gallant
Love the reviews. I do think the one element missing from Tom's format is a segment on security and privacy. Especially in view of the recent controversies involving Hyundai and Kia, and how vulnerable several of their recent models were to theft. Additionally, as increasingly computerized and cell-linked todays cars are, we consumers need some guidance as to how secure are all the high-tech features? And how are the manufacturers using this tech to gather data on us customers?
Sorry, but there is no way I can accurately do those kinds of things since I'm just one guy with limited resources. Also topics like that tend to make very dull videos.
Yeah, I'm buttoning things down in the next couple weeks. I have plenty of experience with EV's, so I'm very confident it will work for me. My only issue is getting level 2 charging out to my cave of a garage. It's a very long run and it's going to be expensive. 2024 is going to rough up my bank account for sure!
If you did any research, you would find that batteries last a very long time. My brothers Nissan Leaf that was totaled at 125,000 miles had degraded only about 15% as far as he could tell. And per federal regulations, all of them are covered by an eight year 100,000 mile warranty for starters. So to answer your question, probably nothing.
Hey Tom, I like the Prius Prime but it’s just too pricey, eventually I found Hyundai Ioniq Plug in Hybrid to be quite attractive looking and serve similar purpose like the Prius Prime, so I ended up buying a 2020 pre owned model and limited trim which gets me some fancy features…. all for $24k with only 20,000 miles on it. I’m a happy man!
Not just a happy man, a smart man. People complain that the dealers are gouging, the reality is, you can just walk away and buy something else. Kind of tough love, but there you go.
I'm confused by your definition of best. Mine is all about long term reliability and lack of depreciation, neither of which seemed to be a factor on your list.
Don't be confused. While I consider how well a vehicle might hold up, I also factor in how much an owner will enjoy the vehicle while in their possession. Also, keep a vehicle long enough and depreciation is less of an issue. My Miata is 32 years old. I don't care about what it's worth. I love the car and enjoy the experience.
A number of years ago I purchased a fun, exciting, General Motors sports car that drew the attention of many people in my community. I will never forget that car. It is the reason I now have towing insurance. Reliability and how well a vehicle holds it's value are the only things that matter after escaping that nightmare.
@@jeffgoddard4100 And the three GM cars I've owned have been among the best vehicles my family has owned. Buick has been high in reliability ratings for years. Our Kia is 12 years old. Gas and oil.

The new Prius does look good but it's off our list thanks to poor outward visibility and cramped interior. Maybe next time Toyota will find a better balance between appearance and utility. But they blew it with this redesign.
A bit disappointed in the lack of minivans. The vast vast majority of people would be better served with a minivan than a colossal pedestrian-obliterating SUV with the same amount of interior space, but alas.
