Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management

The UTM project conducts research to make it possible for small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS), commonly known as “drones,” to safely access low-altitude airspace beyond visual line of sight. The project’s focus is a series of field demonstrations that include partners from the Federal Aviation Administration, industry and academia, and that test technologies for an eventual traffic management system.
