- In this video, we compare the Ditex CarScope i-Tester to the PicoScope relative compression test. We connect both the tools and compare the iTester to a voltage and current relative compression check on the PicoScope with some faults installed. The Ditex CarScope i-Tester can be found on the Elite Diagnostics website:

Thanks again for sharing. I’ll save my money and use the Pico. Cheers Artie 😊
Very clearly explained. Great comparison 👍👍
Thanks Patel! 👍
Thank you very much for this useful detailed comparison.
You’re very welcome, thanks for sending the tool - nice convenient bit of kit!
Great review Darren. I really rate the ease and use of the Ditex RC tester.
Cheers, it is a good bit of kit! Very convenient 👍
Well done Darren!
As a Pico obsessive, its nice to see it put thru its paces. I am current just about to purchase a 4 channel Pico (old version) & always enjoy your videos.
Keep up the good work! 😊
MiracleMAX
Hard to beat Pico products, I’m with you there! 4 channel is a great tool, we use them at the Academy.
Glad you’re enjoying the channel, thanks!👍
@@MechanicMindset Same here. We are just about to get a
P4425A PicoBNC+ 4 channel oscilloscope at the college that I teach at. I'm already drooling! 😁
@@MiracleMAX Nice!!!
Nice review on the Ditex! I see your little helper in the background. :-)
Haha, Wednesday the cat was enjoying some of the engine heat, cold here today! Thanks!
Yo D. Thanks for all the information. Keep up the good work
Cheers Daniel!
Hello, thank you for this video, great tools that you present to us
Thanks Stephane, glad you enjoyed the video and the tool!
Nice one buddy. Great stuff as always
Cheers Nuffz, glad you enjoyed the video! 👍
Excellent video Darren I’ll stick to my oscilloscope for RC tests tho. I have the sensor sim auto sim
I like to look at the waveforms too. Ditex make some great tool and this is a good alternative for those who might not be so confident with a scope. How do you find the Autosim? Cheers!
Nice to have the convenience 👍👍👍 top demo
It’s a great little tool. Cheers Igor!
This kit is so handy, particularly if your mobile and need to verify relative compressions.
Yeah really convenient! Have you tried it before?
@@MechanicMindset yes, it seems pretty accurate compared to scope but not tried sync with cylinder yet. 👍
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
You’re very welcome, glad you enjoyed the video!
I will suggest a video, with a sensor signal simulator, if and how can help someone, to find a problem,if it's necessary to have it in the toolbox , and etc. thanks anyway, I am a big fan of you and your channel.
Would suit me been Mobile thanks for sharing Darren.
Yeah for sure, it would be very handy being on the road 👍
Thank you sir great information.
Thanks for watching Mike!
Le Chat Noir loves compression testing 🤣 Cheers Darren 👍
😂 She snuck in there, and nearly fell off the wing haha. Cheers! 👍
Hello my friend thanks for sharing your acknowledge and experience , I really enjoyed watching your videos and I have been learning a lot , just I got a question for you , have you ever heard about the micsig ato1144 (scope) ? Have you ever use it ?
Hi, I have seen it but never used one before. Looks good, not sure what the vertical resolution is though (8 or 12 bit). Ideally you want 12 bit for that price. Glad you’re enjoying the channel! 👍
Use the Picoscope diagnostic program. It has a built in graphic inteface which is planed for this test and much easier to read. No need for inductive clamp for this test. Just connect to battery with crocodiles.
Great feature if you have the automotive oscilloscope; unfortunately you can’t use it with this scope. Although you can also do the test with the voltage measurement too, I have a video somewhere. Cheers!👍
Hi. I see you have very nice dc signal on rc test compared to last time where it looked much worse. Could you tell settings this time? :)
Just got pico 2204 myself thanks to your channel.
Hi Martin, I went for 5v/div, AC coupling and it looks like I upped the sample rate but wouldn’t think that would make much difference. Hope that helps! 👍
Thanks. In this test, did you connect the Ditex with clamp to the battery, to measure the voltage drop? Or did it measure the voltage drop thru the OBD2? If you will have a reference, you just connect the Ditex to injector signal, crank sensor etc, and just add that info in the menu?
Hi, I just connected directly to the battery. I struggled to get the cylinder reference to work; it says you can connect to an injector or ignition coil/lead - if you have the correct tools
@@MechanicMindset Thanks. But when did you want to connect the Ditex to obd2? Can it do de voltagedrop thru the obd2 instead of being connected to the battery?
@@AN77 Yes, apparently it can do the same test via the OBD port. I have not tried it yet 👍
Would the mac probe banana plugs not go 'piggy back' in your hantec scope leads instead of the croc clips ?. Would a relative comp test also work on a rotary ?
Yeah, someone else just raised that point, didn’t put 2 and 2 together; thanks for the reminder!
I’ll be honest, I’ve not worked on a rotary engine before, but I would expect there to be some compression stage that can be measured. Check this thread out:

Thank you good explanation ditex sensor simulator make one video any possibility
Thanks! If Ditex send one I might do a video of AutoSim too 👍
@@MechanicMindset thank you bro now I'm practicing Pico software in my laptop I'm growup in future as A automotive technician thanks again

Hello, yes you can check that the windings in the motor are ok. I think there are some videos on RUclips for this if you search: Check Fuel Pump With Oscilloscope
If you don’t have bnc - banana adapter you can use the hantec scope lead and plug the male ends into the female stack holes.
You know what, I would have never thought of doing that 😂😂😂.
Thanks for the reminder!!
Scope everytime for these tests
For sure, with a pulse sensor in every orifice 😂👍
@@MechanicMindset exactly 😉
I bought an I Scope about a year ago because it seemed to be a quick way to do a general comparison between cylinders for a basic check on marine inboard and stern drive boats. The first one I could hardly see the screen so i sent it back and exchanged it. Same problem with the second one but also kept throwing a fault. Tried it on 3 different systems and the same thing. If it's nearly dark I can see the screen but in normal daylight it's very hard to see and in sunlight impossible to see. I think the unit is a good idea but a very cheap screen for the high price.
Thanks for the feedback, Ditex will hopefully take in your feedback 👍
@@MechanicMindset Really ?I bought the Master I tester few days back but i am still waiting for it to arrive, i thought its a good tool, what a waste of money..!!
@@thomasyd9220 Hi, I had no issues with the screen. To be honest it’s a great tool to get quick results. Has a few other features too (like diesel HP pump test), but not played with them yet. Give it a go 👍
@@MechanicMindset But you said it already.. :)
@@thomasyd9220 Only trying to get the camera at an angle where it would capture it, I could see it fine 👍
do you think the i tester uses ac coupling to work its results out
No, the i-Tester uses open input
Good morning, can we check the center of the motor by means of the bioscope, and is there a video or method to guide us through it?
Hi, what do you mean ‘bioscope’?
You can use an oscilloscope to check the internal windings of some motors. Best to use the amp clamp 👍
@@MechanicMindset MY DEAR MEAN PICO SCOPE
@@rufaatmj9986 Oh haha. Yes you can. You can use the amp clamp and check the ‘ripple’ and current draw. Sorry I don’t have a video yet
@@MechanicMindset THANKS
Even the cat is checking out if the work was done properly😂😂😂😂😂
These are both great tools but with the pico u need a computer to plug in to
Nice and warm on top of there 😂
Yeah, the Ditex tool is really convenient! Not tried the common rail diesel pump test with it yet
Hey there's a cat in the engine ! at 6:26''
What was the result of the cat scan.😅
Diagnose Dan uses one . Scanner Danner also had one . Contact Auto Ditex , I have heard they respond to suggestions . I have seen these used to show a quick test by attaching to the battery and not synching . You then have a quick result to indicate a possible problem . Just doing a compression or leak down test on some vehicles requires removal of an intake plenum , etc . At least you know that an issue exists before you get deep into vehicle . Then the customer is made aware and can't come back crying that the car doesn't " run right " .
For sure! That’s what I’d say this tool is best for; a quick check to see if further diag is required 👍
You’re right, getting the sync took some time - and I couldn’t get it to work anyway 😂
It does a diesel HP pump test too but not played with it. Ditex have some cool stuff. Thanks for watching 👍
I don't like this tool. It would probably be OK for someone that doesn't have a scope.
Yeah it’s not for everyone; one mobile guy said it would be really convenient for him 👍
