  • In this video I show you some really simple techniques for painting and drawing sketchbook backgrounds.In school I never payed enough attention to my backgrounds and kept everything on white paper. its much better to add some interest and variation to your sketchbook pages and these techniques do not take much time at all.     I don't have any advice for the salt + watercolor because I get mixed/disappointing results too. But rubbing alcohol + watercolor can give some neat results similar to your charcoal + acetone backgrounds. These are really beautiful, interesting options that don't require a lot of prep and work. Thank you for sharing!

    I'm super late but you've ogtta wait for the paint to dry a little, but still damp, before you put the salt on the page. The type and size of salt and how wet/dry it is also affects/effects it

    Courser salt works well with the watercolor
