- One of the most common questions I get asked is “ Are there any differences between a male and a females” and " Should I get a male or female puppy? "when it comes to French Bulldogs. Well, other than the obvious, there are some differences when it comes to the learning curve, maintenance, especially when it comes to spaying and neutering your little bat pigs.I created this video to bring some attention to something that might go missed when deciding which sex you want to bring home.

My female frenchie is more active and barks at anything. While my male frenchie is more chill and doesn’t really bark much. My male frenchie looks at his girlfriend like she is crazy lol

Where do I begin!!!! For starters, I love you Fuli!! You are such a handsome boy and having met him in person he is the cutest dog! I’m also pretty sure many of those shots would serve him well on doggy tinder lol. Second, you need to stop getting better at these as you go as the bloopers are amazing haha! Lastly, the video was awesome as usual and I found myself wondering if you were talking about male/female dogs or humans bahaha! In an ideal world I would recommend one of each, especially if there are no other fur family in your home. My daughter has a brother-sister pair. There are reasons I nick-named them Ellie Mae and Jethro. He has her by 10 pounds but she is just as strong. He also only thinks that he is the Alpha. They are both very attached, They are both good with babies AND they have each other when everyone else is at work (remember leaving the house to work?) Get 2 if you have no other critters as the separation anxiety is intense with them.

Both ...that's why I did when I couldnt decide and it's so cute because their personalities are so different ... my boy is a Little Prince and very protective and is a talker.. my girl is Boujie and acts like a Diva you can't tell her what to do at all ... love them both though!
I really liked this video. I have a cream colored 6 month old Frenchie who is so playful and funny. You’re 100% right about them being a bit tough to train but after a bit of repetition, he gets it almost every time. I would like to see a morning and night routine video. I’m struggling to find a routine and love to see what others do! Keep up the great work, I really like your content so far 👌🏽

My first Frenchie was a female and the one I have now is a male. Daisy was a lot easier to housebreak, getting the hang of it by 6 months. Hugo didn't get it until around 9 months. Both are/were stubborn, but she was a little less than him. Both "will work for food" though. Both are/were affectionate, but in different ways. He's a cuddle bug, he gives kisses when HE wants to, and he doesn't like to be held so much. She liked cuddling, being held, giving hugs and kisses. Hugo is super chill and likes every dog and human. Daisy was more alpha and animated, would play fetch forever, and loved humans but was reactive to other dogs.
Both are/were great dogs though! If I got another while Hugo is still living I'd probably get a female to balance things out.
Hi! Thanks for the video! I just got a frechie from a breeder and she's gonna arrive at my (and her future) home in a few weeks. It would be amazingly helpful if you make a video about the 1st couple months and what should be the main concerns when they get home for the first time.

I have a 2 year old male Frenchie, honestly, it was no different than having any male dog. They do take a little longer than their female counterparts, but if you stick with it and stay consistent with training and scheduling, they make extraordinary pets. In my case, he is actually my guard dog. His need to protect is so high, that I just went with it and we are currently doing bite work and protection work. He shocks me every month with what he’s capable of doing. He has such great drive and is so loyal.
I’ve always had herding breeds, I was gifted a frenchie 2 years ago and I cannot imagine my life without him. What an awesome breed this is. ❤❤❤❤
I started with a female frenchie 3 years ago and then we added a male frenchie to our family last year! They are both wonderful and definitely share a lot of the same frenchie traits (cuddly, silly and smart) but there are quite a few differences as well. My female frenchie was a much faster learner, she learned to potty train by 6 months my boy is going to be 1 next month and still has accidents in the house if he is not carefully watched. He tends to be more easy going and chill though where my female frenchie can be a little aggressive with other dogs and likes to stir up a little drama.
I love them both though and I think the best solution is to have two if you can! Also you’re completely right about size, my girl is 18lbs and my male is 26lbs and will probably gain another couple lbs.

@@leila-hq5fk pee pads and give them shit if they don't try too even get close too the pad. Like peeing on your bed or couch Both my Frenchies have done that. they try to mark their territory give them a timeout and don't let them on the bed for the day and take them outside as soon as they potty in the house!

I’m loving my Dog he’s the perfect dog . I have 4 of them 2 makes and 2 females , it hurt my pockets but it they’re totally worth it .

My male dog can’t clean himself down there either! I use wipes after he goes to the bathroom.
My male is super loving and affectionate and lives on my lap. My female is a grumpasaurous and keeps out of touching distance unless it's on her terms.

My male Frenchie is not quite as affectionate, a bit opinionated, maybe even a little stubborn but totally lovable and so intelligent he makes me wonder if he really does understand everything I say. Even the things I wish he didn't. He is independent and for me that's quite entertaining. Absolutely wonderful companions forsure. However, he can be rather territorial at times.

I rescued a 1year old frenchie about a month ago. Luckily he's trained and well behaved. He's intact and I'm letting him stay that way. I didn't know that females are smaller. My Rocco weighs 28lbs. He's quite the Love-bug. As always i learned alot from your videos. You've helped this here Frenchie mommie. Can i ask if you have any special equipment for inside your car for yours when your driving him around?

Rocco and Fuli are about the same weight. I just had him weighed yesterday and he’s 29lbs
I do not have any special equipment that I use other then a back seat cover I got off amazon for like $30. It’s been a life saver countless times. I highly suggest it.

I had a male frenchie, he was my whole world He was so stubborn, but so clean, didn’t bark, he had so many health issues😫then a have a female frenchie She’s very calm but barks at a lot of things, she always pee and poop on her spot, she’s and independent girl.
Depends on what your looking for. If your looking for an emotional support animal either is fine I recently got a female French bully and she’s so loving and sweet and well behaved. She’s always at my hip and follows me everywhere. She’s a god send, healing my heart everyday. I love her so much! ❤good luck to those looking to get one. If your thinking about doing it go for it you’ll be glad you did. Wish I tried sooner. She’s my little angel.
How are frenchies with cats? I’m looking into getting a dog but I have a cat who’s such a scaredy-cat. Never had a dog before so Idk if they would get along :(

My Breeder says the same thing but doesn’t say why. My male per contract says I cant neuter him until a year old. What can I expect and how do I combat the aggression?
I’m not sure I understand your first sentence , what do your breeder say? Fuli is intact and 2.5 years old and doesn’t show any aggression. Socializing the dog with everything, everyone is the best thing you can do
@@MyPawesomeFrenchie My breeder says I void her contract if I neuter the male I’m buying in November!! She says I have to wait until 10 to 12 months to neuter him. I had a male dog before who was nuts and aggressive at that time and wondered if you experienced the same.
Cheryl Mills I experience the same thing with my Frenchie, he does like this sneak attack on people, he appears nice than gets you close and goes for a bite.
my female is 4 months old and all she does it sleep all day and cuddle! she is so affectionate. She was super easy to train, she is already crate trained and potty trained (we had a little accident today but that's okay). I haven't heard her cry or bark yet either, the only noise she makes is her little snores
How long can you leave her in the crate with no accidents?
Throughout the night, I leave her for about 7 hours! In the day I usually take her out every 2 hours to go pee, sometimes longer depends how long her day naps are
Update: she’s almost 6 months now, and her personality is coming out, she’s now getting into a little mischief and is playing a lot more, we’re still having 1-2 accidents a day. She loves to play with people and dogs! She also just found out that she can bark but it’s usually when she’s playing and rolling around like a little piggy lol
The only thing that bothered me about getting my female Frenchie was how clingy she was, even compared to her brother siblings. With some hard work though we developed a proper daily routine and she is a bit more independent.

I've heard several people say boys are more playful and girls more snugglers. When I first got my male he was just like a little baby snuggling with me as soon as he got a little bigger he was just like a human little boy rough and tumble. No more snuggles for me until he is ready for me then he wants to lay beside me has to be touching me. Lol

Im suprised at the weight iv got a 10 month old female that weighs 22 pound and shes the smallest frenchie iv ever seen
Boys have more personality a little crazier and more active. Mine will run 5-6 miles then want to go for a daily hour dog park. He can be out running around with me all day every day except when it gets hot like 75-80 or above. They are seriously like having a 3 year old child. They have some crazy bonding thing. Iv always had strong bonds with my dogs like labs this is a way stronger one. My dog always has a sitter but he gets depressed when I leave him. I might of waited getting a Frenchie if I had known how attached they get and how they hate being away from there human.

In Australia they are about $4500-$7000 for a limited paper as a pet only not for breeding and I don’t mean the champions or show dog. This is the average price of the French bulldog pup from registered breeder.
Mine is $5000 and my frenchie looks very similar with your one, same colour but he only has one white patch on his chest.

Had a Frenchie puppy (female) early July. And as far as i could tell, also considering french bulldogs of my friends, the female ones are more active, way less affectionate and way more playful than the males. I know that every individual is different and not every female/male behaves the same way just like we humans. But it's just what i have witnessed in my time with these dogs.
Also i met many breeders who tried to tell me, that the temper of puppys does not really differ - so in the end i should look out for which colors i like or what "looks" i prefer instead of going by their temper/personality. The puppy i had did not fit to me. She was the opposite of me - i'm kinda calm, like to cuddle and have some trainingsessions inbetween and go outside for walks. She was active all the time, could not really come to rest unless i was in a radius of 2m and in her vision and she always wanted to play and be active. But you can't really go outside when it's 30 degrees and the puppy is not meant for long walks at 12 weeks so i tried my best to stimulate her physically and mentally indoors. But that seemed to be far from enough for her.
I spoke to the breeder and she went back to her litter with mum & dad. I chose to do so after 8 days of having her because i didn't want her to develope an anxiety after staying with me for weeks.
I could not cope with her tho we did really great when it comes to learning, getting her to potty outside and all that stuff. But i felt like it wasn't meant to be or i am just not ready for a dog even tho i prepared for a long time beforehand and my situation right now definitely allows to have a dog in my life. I think i tried way to hard to adapt my own life around the puppy when i really should've involved her into my life. :(
This is not the fault of the breeder, or the dogs temperament but a lack of information and knowledge on your part. Every puppy will be high energy and want to play. It’s a puppy.
@@MyPawesomeFrenchie Thanks for your reply! I didn't mean to blame the breeder noir the dog - i should've researched more on puppies than adult dogs. I think that was the mistake i have done tho i spent like 4 month literally absorbing every information from videos and books i could get. I thought i was prepared but at the same time i felt like i wasnt. I love every single dog but maybe i am just not the right person to own one myself. But you can only figure that out once you had a dog in your life for a certain amount of time. Have a great weekend.

Why Füli? My husband’s nickname is Füli😊. But that’s because our family name...Fülöp.
Füli means ears in Hungarian and it just suited him because of his big ears

If you want a Frenchie, have some money. My beloved Frenchie has bad allergies and has a deformed spine, so his vet bills have be high. However, I wouldn't trade him for the world. He has been a terrior and a joy. They don't call them bullies for nothing, his motto: I do want I want when I want. Be ready to listen to intense snoring at night, cleaning their butt after a number two and a lot of love.

I have two male frenchies and they are from the same litter. Both are very different in their personalities but they are amazing, fun, intelligent and very affectionate. I think males should not be altered ever, but if you do, please consider a vasectomy. Females should be a year old and you should try to find an ovary sparing spay. Imagine losing all your hormones as a preteen, does that seem healthy?! A responsible pet owner won’t need to worry about unwanted pregnancies. Please no unqualified breeding☹️

I have always been told spaying/ neutering is A MATTER OF HEALTH ... IF YOU are not going to breed them please spay/ neuter .. do your own research! Sorry I don’t agree with his statement...
I think what he meant in this video is that you shouldn't spay or neuter the puppy before 6 months old, the puppy needs time to fully develop first before going through the surgery.
I’m no expert with frenchies I’ve had an English though but I’ve seen a pattern of behaviour of female vs male dogs and in my own experience especially with smaller breeds females tend to be feistier (explain where the name bitch comes from for female dogs) they also seem more sensitive and may be prone to anxiety but they learn faster and follow commands easier because of their submissive nature, they can also be more loving however males are goofier, and slower to learn and respond to commands my male when reprimanded thinks we playing with him and he doesn’t listen funny enough I see that in my Pekingese which are snubbed nose dogs they’re personalities seem very similar to frenchies they just have longer hair and are more sensitive like not the strongest of dogs.
