- Here I am going to share what you need to know about FRENCH BULLDOGS before you decide to get one. I am going to share some of my personal experiences and some of the things I wish I knew before I got my first one.
Hopefully, some of these points will help you determine whether the French Bulldog is the right breed for you.

My French baby is Mila, she doesn’t snore, farts ... sometimes. Definitely not quiete at all.
What she does do is eat... she eats all the pillows, blankets, dog beds, coffee table, bar stools, and my CAR!!!
But I love her so much!
So far my attempts at making videos have been just like your bloopers lol! Great informative video, and a gorgeous dog :) I heard that giving them a little active yogurt mixed with their feed helps control the farting... it helps regulate the gut flora. Don't know if that's true but maybe check that idea out? :)

Our 8 year-old male still plays, he always barks when someone is at the door and he's never eaten a can of dog food in his life. Pure protein and he hasn't even needed the breathing operation. He does get regular vet checks and when he farts he looks at us like we did it.
Im really happy to hear that! I am speaking to more Frenchie owners in my community who are experiencing the same thing in their older franchies.
Do they fart for life? Ive got a 6 month old . I was hoping the farts would stop and the snoring is horrendous
Try changing the food. My frenchie is now 1,5 years old and I found out pretty early that feeding him food with grains is a bad idea. Try to find a grain free product, the one I give my dog has lamb and sweet potato, he loves it he farts less and his poop has a better consistancy 💩 for the snoring issue I can recommend giving him a pillow, or just arrange so your dogs head is elevated just a little, that will help. Having a Frenchie is basically like owning a pig. Much more intelligent than expected, snores LOUDLY, their farts are AWFUL, loved to sleep, and is just a lazy chubby ball of cuteness. Really love Frenchies, they really are a unique kind. I always thought Frenchies were a posh expensive type of lap dog, but turns out they’re much more cuter than I thought, easy to get along. Hoping everyone stays safe!!

All dogs farts are awful
My dog just snores, fart, bark, act like a human, and chew things up but I still love him :)
Cheers to you, Pablo, another Frenchie fan! You have to give them things they can chew. I only do this supervised as choking hazards exist even with chew toys or chew snacks. We’ve never had an issue with what our Frenchie chewing on things he shouldn’t after the first time (a bike computer). They will find things to chew one way or another.

bc he cant breathe...... their literally bred to have no snout they have a lifespan of 10 years w other dogs their size are like 16, they cant even be born w/o c section

We rescued our frenchie from a shelter and can't imagine life without her anymore. Never thought I was a dog person, but she stole my heart. She's sassy too 😂

Yeah my female French bulldog gets jealous whenever I hug my wife or kiss my wife she starts crying and our male is the same but with her towards me
My French literally talks and sings to me. He’s perfect. He’s plays a lot and he’s always smiling! He makes noises with his throat when we talk to him but luckily he has no breathing problem.

what i wish i knew about frenchies before getting one:
1. they do shed a lot (i think this differs by color/dog)
2. they require a lot of attention and will do anything to get it (pee!!!!)
3. they do have tons of energy (depends on dog)
4. they have extremely sensitive stomachs/skins/allergies, you need to be committed to finding out what works for your baby
5. therefore they do fart and sometimes its deadly...
6. they snore a lot and can be loud. it would be best to crate them at night (this also makes good practice so that they don't get separation anxiety)
7. you most definitely need to get pet insurance because of the many 'what-if's' in this breed (this is your baby and you would most definitely get health insurance for your baby)
bottom line, they're legit human children and you really need to be committed
i love my baby boy and it's been the best experience so far. he's got such a personality and i'm always happy to give him my attention because he's just so funny and loving!
💯 agree with what you said: they are children. My is needy at times but he also likes his alone time. He is very chill, has only torn apart 1 thing in the 2.5 years I’ve had him. He’s low maintenance for me- I really lucked out. Come join the group. There’s a link in the description .
Which pet insurance do you recommend there is a lot of them out there and they all are not equal like car repair insurances. They'll cover a lot of small stuff, but the more expensive things they won't approve the claim.
@@CoD_Maj3st1k Me personally, I have Nationwide and I have my pros and cons about them but all insurance companies have different plans as well and I would say if you got your pup from a good breeder, you can start off with the basic plan and if any problems should arise, you can change plans yearly I believe!

I've been around multiple frenchies for 15 years, I guess it really depends on the dog, but I've never seen low energy one or not vocal one. They require alot of attention and if they aren't getting it, they will find a way to get it.
Maybe I am bias of my dog. I know several frenchies, not are the same. But there are low energy frenchies is out there like mine.
I have 2 frenchies a blue and a white and tan... they both shed loads every day and I agree with the barking part but as for the rest of your video its 90% untrue as unfortunately every dog is different as my blue doesn't like strangers especially kids and my white and tan loves people and kids but doesn't like other dogs so for people to give advice is wrong as all are different and unique... I love the breed that's why have 2 but they are extremely hard work and need alot of attention and love
Thats the damn truth. I love.my dog but she's a stubborn vindictive little dog. When she doesn't get attention, Ill notice she'll be in her kennel acting all shy and sure enough a wet spot in my house. All the training and still, the moment we dont pay attention to her she does something stupid. Honestly its sad and gets Fn old

Our french bulldog hardly makes any noise at all, in fact its actually nice to hear her bark when she does, my mothers french bulldog wont shut up it makes some insane noises, we baby sitted her when my mother went on holiday and she sat outside the bedroom during the night screaming, It drove me mental. My french bulldog also does not like to go for a walk, she has had enough when she gets to the end of the road, and prefers laying about and sleeping and snoring.
this man is the kind of person I wanna come over and visit with. He loves his dog but also respects his visitors. Hate when I visit some people and their dog hair is just everywhere...

They also are at risk of spinal injury... No jumping, no jumping on or off furniture or stairs! This is my 3 rd frenchie and my second sweet pea was over 40,000 yes that’s correct in vet bills... love your video ❤️
Holy crap this is literally the perfect dog for me. I'm super clean freak, hate dogs that bark all day, love social dogs and they are SO CUTE.
All dogs will be different so visit them at different times to see their personality and disposition .
Most everything he said was true but dogs are like humans with their own personalities. My two year old male is very active and wants to run and run. He loves for me to chase him around the house. He is not a barker, but he does bark. He loves everyone and would litterally go off with any stranger who gave him attention. He doesn't sleep with me as he has a crate he loves and every night at 10 pm he goes in it to sleep for the night. Now my guy did fart alot and poop stuck to his butt. Not now. I add a full teaspoon of canned pumpkin and a full teaspoon of plain yogurt to his food. No poop stuck on his butt and farting is down 95%. Do not pay outrageous prices for exotic colors as they are not registered with the AKC and you are being ripped off. Best dog I have ever owned.

@@EmmaCorstange Go to the AKC website to read what colors are standard. Unfortunately some breeders tell buyers a certain color is rare and try to charge super inflated prices. Just like buyers paying $3500 for a labradoodle. Which is not a pedigree dog breed at all.

@@EmmaCorstange info on breeding. These dogs are very hard to breed. There is a ton of genetics to be informed on. A lot of expenses with artificial insemination and C-section delivery. You must meet specific qualifications to be registered as a breeder with the AKC. As customers will want AKC registration papers with the purchase of a puppy. Just buy one for yourself to enjoy.
I'm absolutely obsessed with finding a Frenchie. My 17 year old Pug passed away about 2 years ago and I honestly thought that was it for me. Now I'm 100% ready for a puppy, and it has to be a French Bulldog. I'm in the San Francisco area and I'm having trouble finding one. This video has helped me very much, especially your outtakes at the end. Wish me Luck !!
I know how you feel. On March 21, 2015 I had to put down my pug, Sid. He was 14 years old. After that, I wasn't sure if my family and I were ever going to get another dog because Sid meant a lot to me. Sure enough, on December 28, 2015 my family and I ended up adopting a French bulldog puppy named Finn. Since then, he has made our lives so much better. I feel like we made the right decision to adopt a puppy especially a French bulldog. Good luck to you.

Look into a Boston Terrier, I originally wanted a Frenchie, but saw a Boston, fell in love as soon as I picked it up, great breed. Like Frenchies, not much barking, cuddly, and very social, and 1/2 the price, 1-2K for a great dog, as opposed to 3-4K for a Frenchie.

my frenchie wasn’t a big barker until she started going to a pet sitter that has several other dogs and I think she learned their behavior smh. still love her even though she barks at something being set down on the counter

LMAO. Mine is 800 mph pretty much all days. The only time his fuel tank runs down is when we put him in doggy daycare all day on Saturdays.
I can’t sleep without my snoring boy! Has been an issue with boyfriends in the past and guess who stays in my bed, my Oscar boy! Kept me laughing, keep the videos up!

Uh, you’re gonna need to learn to compromise if you ever want to maintain a relationship. Loving your dog is fine, but dumping people because they have the audacity to want to sleep in bed with you without a dog in the way is a bit too much.

Also they are fast learners.
We have a five month old frenchie we love. Definitely a "large" personality in many ways. The surprises to us so far: Ruby barks more than any dog we have ever had, she is big (already 17 pounds), and she is very active/athletic and does require quite a bit of exercise. Yes to insurance! It's already paid for itself.

Mine is a 85% frenchbulldog and 15% Boston terrier. I personally like a little blend more because it lessens the issues that frenchies come with, like heart issues, breathing. He’s also thinner and his face isn’t as smushed which I am completely fine with lol. It allows him to be quite instead of making all kinds of breathing noises
i got a frenchie and it wasn’t planned, a work friend gave him to us for free:) he literally acts like a toddler, he intentionally gets his ball stuck and barks at it for attention he’s so cute. he’s been the most human like dog iv had it’s so cute!!

Skin allergies snoring farting. That's what I get from mine
keeping my frenchie away from any form of chicken will help with farts. I put mine on raw food diet and has made a much healthier dog

Great video, my boy is stuck to me like glue all day long he will follow me around. He’s the best, he has a hilarious totally predictable personality. So much fun! He does have more energy than people say he is supposed to but he’s calming down a bit at 19 months thank goodness

Thanks for the video this was very helpful. We're normally Malamute and Chihuahua owners, but I am a HUGE fan of Cashew. Seeing him with such a huge personality, I wanted to get one. However, now I think I will just remain a fan of them, and stick to what I know, Malamutes and Chihuahuas!

My Frenchie just snores and judges me.....He catches an attitude with me a lot.....I'd never seen a dog huff and stomp off to his bed because he was told NO!

Our 2 year old Frenchy, Puppet, doesn't bark.... But he talks. A LOT! He acts like he's having conversations with you. He's a sook, big sook. He had a tummy ache last week after stealing a bag of treats while I was out... He cried at me until I gave him my heat pack to lay on.
Also, he acts like he's asleep when he's getting a talking to. He just closes his eyes like "if I can't see you you can't see me". It's weird and seems to be a Frenchy thing lol. He loves toys and our kids. He burps, farts, snores.... Basically he's a small, silly fat old man lol.

I had to stay at a friends place inbetween moving apartments and he had a Frenchie.
It was an absolute nightmare.
That dog dominated every single part of my senses, from the foul smell, to the noise, the slime & drool everywhere, it's constant need for attention, hair all over the place and snorting / grunting.
I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there.

100% agree on insurance. Best decision I ever made for my Frenchies. Potential owners of this breed please be aware of ivdd.
My frenchie was also unexpected. We planned for another breed, however, we fell in love with his pic. One thing we learned is frenchies have a lot of food allergies. My frenchie bleed from the buttocks for the first year of his life because of food allergies, especially chicken. His first year was spent going back & forth to the vet trying to figure what to feed him to make him stop bleeding. He's had every expensive food known to puppies. We gave up on dog food after his first year. He is currently being fed human food. We mix together ground turkey, ground beef, white rice, frozen chopped spinach, frozen peas & carrots, (baked sweet potatoes or 100% canned pumpkin) for a week's worth of meals during the week. We cook either all ingredients together, or at least 4 of these ingredients, which always includes both meats. We top with sprinkles of poultry free kibble to help with his teeth. We also learned that they need the expensive all natural treats without chicken since they're so sensitive to food. And also that frenchies are very heat sensitive. So it is important to not have your heat turned up too high in your home, to not over walk them, nor allow them to play outside in the heat for too long, and to not have clothes on them for too long. And always take a bottle of water with you on walks especially in the heat. I absolutely love my frenchie. They're so smart, people friendly & they love companionship & cuddling up next to you.

My frenchie is 8months old and she’s fulllll of energy we took her on a 9mile hike and she didn’t stop once
I would be carful with a 9mile hike. They are bulldogs and very stubborn. They do not know their limits and when to stop. In the summer months it’s risky with the heat as they can over heat and give themselves a heart attack. Just be carefully but I’m glad you have a energetic dog.
5 miles is a good marker for them. after that they get very tired and sore, be careful have fun!

well in our case not the barking our mabel loves barking she thinks its great fun,
I dont have a dog, but I meet many of these French bulldogs and what I note is that they go crazy over me. Just yesterday I was sat in a park and a guy came by with one. It went hysterical trying to climb on me. In fact it got too much with him scrabbling in my lap. The look in their eyes is that of obsessional love.

All bulldogs are very loyal 🖤
Frenchies have more energy and bigger personalities IMO, but equally gassy as English despite being much smaller. Health issues are similar and bite strength is similar (meaning you may need industrial strength toys).
1. They’ are quiet as stated, if a bully barks there’s a good reason (or in this case, a dangerous reason)
2. They don’t shed much and despite their reputation they don’t slobber unless they’ve been exerting themselves
3. They get to know you very well. They can adjust to your lifestyle, if you go out a lot they will build a great travel tolerance, if you are a homebody they will learn to amuse themselves in your space
4. They are GREAT with kids, they love all people, however, they don’t naturally take to strange dogs, that will require socialization on your part - and when they’re young
5. They are VERY loyal. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people part with their bullies at ages 5 and older when they’ve only had one home and it doesn’t end well....it often sends them into a depression and occasionally, sudden death.

He's a sweet baby. We have had Bostons in the past, still do. We recently acquired a 2-year old rescue Frencie who was abused and not potty trained. After learning to trust, she's becoming very loving and affectionate. She's still needs work with potty, but is getting there.
OMG Fuli is so gorgeous! God Bless! I have a male Boston Terrier who weighs 27 pounds and everything you described about Fuli applies to my Boston, too. Those farts... they hang around to the point that you can taste them. But despite all the gas passing and snoring they are all worth it.

My Frenchie is full of energy !!! Running all the time playing like crrrrazy 😂😂 she has no problem with allergies etch ! She is smart communicates very much with human ! She doesn’t like cats and she has firm body and so pretty ❤️

This video is great! We used to have an English Bulldog but she passed away. My son is 4 and I really want a dog that can grow up with him. My husband is against a French because he doesn’t want a dog that sheds bad. Our English shed so so bad. This video is definitely helpful and I’m going to share with him. :)

I have a blue fawn French bulldog rarely barks or cries so he’s very chill but the only problem is that he’s a very picky eater and stubborn 😫

French bulldogs aren't the type of dog I would own but I still love them because they're so funny and like little gremlins with the way they look and make those happy breathing/snorting sounds 😂
My little puppy barks at random objects but is overall quite and he cries at night but it sounds like an actual baby haha 😂

This guy... is a Frenchie as a person... cute and simple... he reminds me of that kid grown up... do you ever think that you could do do do anything? Where stupid meets adorable.
The one thing I have to disagree with is when you said they arent a barking breed. My frenchie barks and literally SCREAMS this blood curdling scream when hes mad or left alone for a few mins. Not to mention he farts A LOT and boy that can clear a room quick!
