That’s an understatement! We have three. They consume me. But that’s the way I am so I have to live with the monsters I created!! I love them like my own kids but all six are grown and I have grandkids I adore also but don’t see often so these furbabies fill any gap I may have needed in caring for another creature. Actually I think they take more work than my kids did. I think they cost more money too. But as they sleep on the bed all around me as I rest, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I love them so much!
I just got my two-month-old Frenchie I've had them for about 3 weeks now I grew up with a black lab and had several cats but this dog is like a little human he's just literally like a little baby human boy he's so sweet and precious but I am going to honestly say I got what I asked for everybody warned me of how hard this was going to be and it's a lot of responsibility money time and energy this breed of dog wants to be with you 24/7 so anyone that's going to get one really prepare yourself you're in for it but you're also one for unconditional love that will make your day everyday
I love this video. It’s not like every other RUclipsr. It’s like I’m watching a friend tell me about his dog in front of me.. but just through a screen 😅
Omg I melt when I see frenchies. They are adorable honestly. But it breaks my heart to see how much effort it takes for them to breathe. So I wouldn't get one ever. I wish long and happy life for your dog.
I’ve had labs for years but wanted a Frenchie for years, our blue Frenchie boy is 2 now and I can honestly say I’m utterly besotted. He’s totally the love of my life! We are lucky he’s had no allergies but he definitely needs loads of attention & care. 😍❤️
Me as well. Have had them since 1993. My 3 yr old brindle girl hardly. sheds. She gets bathed about once a month and NEVER SMELLS . She has no allergies what so ever . Healthy as a horse . I have to speak up about the parasites this dog came home with....that is the fault Of the BREEDER. No reputable breeder would let a sick puppy go to a home! At the very least they SHOULD have paid for the Vet bills. I could go on and on about breeders but that’s another topic. My point is with good breeding and nutrition you should have heathy dog for Many years . I find it somewhat off putting that some who has. owned 1 Frenchie for 1 year fancies himself an expert on the breed.
I mean you NEVER saw a Frenchie outside of a dog show. They were almost extinct after WWII but American breeders brought them back. I got my first one from a rescue.
He IS an adorable little dog, and you’re an awesome owner! And you’re right; the “standards” are cruel. It’s pretty gross how humans breed entirely for their own entertainment,; it’s wrong and we should think about the dog’s health, happiness and enjoyment of life, as well. Love his name: Tortellino💖
Lots of good info. I adopted my brindle frenchie Skip, aka Skipper about 9 months ago, he's 4 and a half years old now. I'm a first time dog owner and also live in an apartment, being a single guy It's a fair amount of responsibility and commitment but I think it's so worth it, my lil Skipper has taught me so much, he's like he's my child and I'd do just about anything for him, he's always happy and there for me!
so glad I came across this video! My frenchie is about to turn 1 and he is the best thing that has happened to me:) . I’m glad you made it a point to talk about the breeding health and expenses that come with owning a frenchie!
I am not getting a Frenchie now because of this video - I am so happy, you made a video that tells it like it is. And you are a wonderful doggie dad! Thanks for putting genuinely informative content out there.
If you buy a dog from breeder with fci certificate, you wont have breathing, bones and other problems. Mine doesnt even snore. Maybe we are lucky, i dont know but im extremely happy. If you are on a tight budget then this might not be the best dog for you because he has to eat premium food etc.. Anyways if you decide for a french bulldog, you can ask me anything you want😀.. I also was in the same situation and it wasnt an easy decision. Now im glad I got a frenchie, my whole family loves him and he loves them even more. That little pig changed our lives. ❤️
Lovro Cosic - we have three and they all have a bit more snout than this fellas. The boys don’t snore a lot or loud. The girl snores like crazy but she has a little shorter snout than the boys. We got her from a bad breeder nearby. I think of her as more of a rescue. She doesn’t even have authentic Frenchie traits. But she’s our little odd ball and we adore her! She’s the sweetest! We bought our boys from the same breeder in Iowa. Both blue(gray)&white. Tons of allergy/yeast and itching/chewing. Going thru foods and diets to stop the yeast. I found one online which is a no carb diet and I bought the Dinovite and their LickOChops oil to supplement. Only one week one of three month diet so we’ll see. They’ve cost a fortune. But we have three. If only one maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. As for vet bills you just never know no matter what kind of dog or animal you get.
I’ve had my totally precious frenchie for 5 years!! My first frenchie!!! I’m in LOVE!!! Best, sweetest, cutest, most loyal & loving babies EVER!!! She was 8 weeks old & chewed through her soft crate!! I had a migraine & left her in her soft crate while I tried to get over it...she chewed through the soft crate & came to my bedroom door.... she’s been beside me in bed ever since!! Love my girl!!!!
I've been readiing and watching vlogs around about the pros and cons of owning a frenchie. Your love for your frenchie is impressive; -the pros has outweighed the cons. Worth the risk of having one. Nice vlog, thanks for sharing.
I love the honesty of your video. I rescued a Frenchie from a local shelter. You would be surprised how many times Frenchies are surrendered. The cost and the amount of care are too much for most people. I groom mine every night and yes, especially being in Santa Barbara, the allergies are a huge issue. Not to mention he's allergic to most meds and Cytopoint didn't work for him. Thanks for keeping Frenchie Life real!
I had a French bulldog for 14!years... A lot of the problems you’ve mentioned are due to bad breeding practices due to the surge in popularity of the breed. Luckily for me mine was free of the ailments you’ve mentioned... also she was fed homemade grain free food and bone broth
My sweet mixed breed 60 lb heeler lab catahoula has taken Apoquel daily for allergies for 2 years. It’s worked wonders! Sometimes in the summer she needs to take it twice a day ... but usually once a day is enough. Good luck! Precious creatures in our care ...
We have 2 Frenchies and have found out that Fromms is a wonderful food for thier coats and pooping too. Also our vet did a procedure on thier nairs and that has helped so much. I know that you probably get so many comments But you are so right the surgery is so helpful so that they can breathe.
I have been grandma to 3 frenchies and they are all completely different. I dog sit regularly and they have personalities that are larger than life. If my daughter tells them, “grandma is coming” they run to the door and wait for me. They are on my lap the entire time I am with them and they sleep with me. Some nights I get very little sleep because I pet them all night long. I’m absolutely besotted with them! They should never be subjected to severe climates for a length of time. If it’s winter and really cold, it’s bad for their sinus to breathe the cold air so out and back quickly. Same in very hot climates. Frenchies are sooooo stubborn and want their way all the time. They love to play and are a hoot to watch their zoomies. I wish I could afford my own frenchie but I would get nothing accomplished at home bcs I would be with my frenchie all the time. My first French granddog loves everyone and loved to go car riding. The last 2 don’t like riding in a car even with their very own car bed. If you don’t have the time and money to care for a frenchie, don’t get one. They are a people person and they love their person and want to be with them all the time. I am the designated babysitter as my daughter does not have human children and adopted frenchies as her children. My daughter calls me on bath day so I can be the dryer person and they love the process. She used to fly me in to care for them so they could go on vacation every 3 months. I finally moved so I could be with them more. Remember, if you have lots of activities and can’t be home with your baby, don’t get a frenchie.
I grew up with all types of dogs and have experienced many others through family and friends. I love ALL dogs but frenchies are a trip 😂. If you own one it’s different at first but once you both get used to each other it’s a blast having them. My little guy is my best friend
I’m getting my first French Bulldog June 23rd and I can’t wait. But as somebody who’s only ever owned staffie bull terriers it’s a whole new ball game for me, so a big learning curve!
Yes I had one who passed at 12 years old. He slept with us always. Great companion and he talked. Yep, he would throw a fit when his Daddy got out of car which put him into a fit saying “I want my Daddy” over and over and like “hey, you got the hamburger you need to give me the french fries!! Yep like now, and how about a little bit of that burger. He was a great companion and miss him. Your dog is much bigger. But, he never knew his size. Loved everyone!
I seriously can NOT handle how you talk about your dog, it's adorable and so obvious how much you love him! I'm currently going through my research of the Brachycephalic surgery since my poor pup has been throwing up or regurgitating everyday at such random times.
Thank you Paolina! Sounds like elongated palate :( I'm grateful for frenchie owners like you who are waking up to their problems and getting them help! Don't be afraid to get several doctors' opinions!
@@TonyCassara That is what I'm thinking too, our vet recently gave him some anti-acids first to see if that would help, but she told us to bring him in if it continued (and it has). He's only 9 months old so we are hoping to nip this in the bud! We want him to be happy and healthy and we also want to enjoy our time with him instead of constantly worried if/when he Is going to throw up!
@@paolinavaldez1509 Good luck! And just an FYI sometimes dogs do need a second palate surgery later in life, but not always! So don't feel bad if this doesn't completely resolve his problems. You're doing everything you can for him ❤
Our frenchie would throw up quite a bit too until we started hand feeding her. When she ate she would shovel/scoop food in from the bowl and not really chew it. Now she gets chicken and veggies hand fed to her in smaller bites, and no barfing.
French bulldogs are the best. Unless you have one you wouldn’t understand. I have a 2 year old Frenchie and we’ve been very lucky as far as no allergies or anything. She’s extremely easy. 🤞 your pup is adorable by the way!
You are absolutely correct about the personality’s of frenchies. I have 2 and they are the BEST dogs I’ve ever had. So loving and loyal . Definitely have very very sensitive stomachs but I wouldn’t trade mine no matter how many special accommodations I have to make for them!
The prices in the US are insane, literary insane. I got mine for 200$, and after 4 months he is still in perfect health. He had good parents, and we got all the papers. I really do not understand the prices over there, but as long as people are willing to pay that much, they will charge as much as they want. You could have literary bought a ticket to Europe, got the dog here, got back home and have about 1000$ to spare. Sorry about the rant, frienchies are awesome :)
Frenchies are expensive in the Nordics, too, but for a good reason. Breeders (good ones at least) breed their dogs with as healthy dogs as possible, test their dogs for genetic problems, and all the puppies have often multiple vet's appointments before they go to their new homes. :)
Wow that's crazy there so expensive in the US! And the Veteraians here atr crazy expensive, they even had "dog insurance" here to help pay for Vet bills"!. I want a dog but the Vet bills are nuts!!
Haven't read through all the comments, but one place that always has frenchies is the French Bulldog Rescue Network. They have frenchies all around the country. Check out their website and see if a frenchie is near you. That's where I found my Gladys!
These little guys and the PUG are both super awesome dogs!!! Their behavior and their moods are incredibly fun!!! They're so funny and active!!! AWWWWWE he was crying for months??? I could never get an animal by itself!!! I always get 2 of everything I choose... 2 kitties, 2 puppies... and I always get them a little younger than most people do... I go for 5 weeks old and by doing it this way, their bond with me becomes much stronger!!! There are healthy organic foods for dogs that will keep their bowels stable and firm, so that will help you!!! You 2 will adjust to each other because that is nature!!! Just follow your instincts and you will be fine!!! HAVE FUN!!!
At first, I didn’t like dogs with snubbed nose so I had always had other types of dogs i.e. Jack Russell, Lab, Miniature Pinture, Poodle, etc. However, 7 years ago, I saw a lot of French Bulldogs pictures on IG and the next thing I knew I couldn’t get enough of this funny-looking and cute dog. I eventually got one six years ago. Honestly, when you have one, you need two, and the next thing you know, you have three. That’s how my life is right now. 😂😂😂
I feel pretty lucky, we have a 15mo female, she has no allergies and no health issues. She is an extremely picky eater so it has been difficult finding food she'll eat but she has been perfect. Loving, outgoing, clumsy, and a clown... She is an awesome dog.
We have two French Bulldogs here in our little family. Both our boys had allergy issues, so we decided to cook their food here at home. Within one week all allergies were gone. Our boys love a diet of fish, carrots, peas, sweet potatoes and egg. Yes its expensive to cook batches every few days, but its better for the boys and better for our vet bill. Enjoyed your video and thanks for letting people know what they are getting into in having a French Bulldog..........the best bundles of love ever.
Also, I am on permanent SSD, so when my daughter bought her for me, I was with her from morning thru the night for 12 years. That made it all the harder. I felt like I lost my best friend. Thanks for listening. Not everyone understands the love of a Frenchie or Frenchton! God Bless!
I’m so happy I came across this video. I lived with my Nana & Papa for 5 years before getting married, & she had three Frenchies. Elliott is her oldest, Gracie (she passed away 3 weeks ago) was the middle, & Luke is the baby of the bunch. Luke was actually diagnosed with epilepsy in June of this year, & poor Elliott has really really bad allergies. Frenchies are the best little pups, & their personalities are the cutest! Your little baked potato is a cutie patootie! 😊
Thanks for sharing your experience with us! I have a 15 month old brindle boy named Julio, and these dogs are quite the character!! I just love them ❤️
This sounds just like my friend’s Frenchie! All of the same problems, except that he doesn’t have short snout problems. Luckily he got insurance for him before any problems started, otherwise they are pre existing conditions. They did fix him after 18 months. I’m sure that people are always giving you advice. Thank you for fixing his breathing and his balls!
I have been able to get one from a breeder that needed to find a forever home. She is a cream bulldog like yours, had a litter or two and her name is Lollipop. She’s a very opposite to your bulldog though, she doesn’t like or does not understand how to greet people and other dogs. However, we love her and she our family member and we won’t give up on her. Bulldogs ROCK...
They are an amazing breed and we love our two, one is on allergy tablet which we know will shorten his life but it gives him quality of life at the moment, we’ve been through different foods too & at the moment they are both on 100% raw which has helped with tummy & stool problems enormously so we’re sticking with that for now. The youngest one is beginning to get allergies (2years old) but helped with just allergy tablets so far & seems seasonal (fingers crossed), her breathing isn’t as bad as your dogs and our other ones breathing is pretty good so we’re lucky. We’ve chosen not to breed due to the breeds problems. Good luck with the surgery and yes they are happy little dogs
Yes more totrelino videos please! Especially about care and health, our french bulldog is 8 months old now. Your wife's crating video helped me so much for our puppy and also her recipe video for him. Thanks for being fur parent roll models!!!
Hope the surgery went well. I have a French Male bulldog, black brindle, who luckily doesn't have allergy or breathing issues. My French bulldog English bulldog mix does have allergy issues and what worked for me is having the vet send bloodwork to a lab in CA and they let you know what he's allergic to food wise as well as environmental allergies. Once I controlled the food, his system was able to handle the environmental allergens.
I’ve had my baby girl for 2 days. I’m head over hills in love. Although I’ve been a dog and cat parent before. I completely agree with what you said about food and other people’s opinions. Each pup is different. I say do your homework, talk to your vet and find what best for YOUR BABY!!!! Thanks for sharing. He’s a doll.
I have a black pug with same allergies. Apoquel is a miracle. No side effects. Get your dog off kibble even the grain free stuff, and pea protein. I went through so much dog food and tried so many recipes. The first two years were hell with diet and allergies. I've made my own recipe of dog food and my pug has been naturally flea free, but still needs Apoquel.
Love your video ,I have a Frenchie she is the best ,loving ,my best friend, one thing I found is they can be greedy little dogs but keeping there weight under control is a must ,it does help with there breathing
This video is so informative! I appreciate the emphasis on the health issues and costs that go along with getting a Frenchie to add to our home. Insurance being a must, breeder tips, and your kind demeanor is just as one in the comments explained, " it's like a friend giving you good advice that actually cares" I thank you. I am interested in only two breeds besides my Yorkie, and they both have serious health concerns attached to their breeding. Doberman and French bulldog. I am weighing my options but one of the two are my only desire so I have big decisions to make. Again, thank you for making this video to help others
I now have a Frenchie girl and she's 11wks and we are currently shopping insurance per your advice. When weighing the two breeds that I was interested in, I decided against the Dobie. My home insurance wouldn't accept the breed, our recent lifestyle changes, and our other girl pups factor in the choice. So, she fits in our lifestyle however I didn't take lightly all of the contents of your video. I know I have to have insurance, my breeder had purebred pups and I chose the one that had a tad less flat nose structure and seemed to breath well. Her health checks have been great but I am no fool. However, I am in love. She's perfect for us in every way you mentioned about Frenchies and then some! If rescues would've had a puppy available, I would've chosen one. So our journey has begun. The information you relayed to us is factual and I'll cherish it as I navigate through this wonderful, yet cautious journey. Any ideas on the best affordable insurance in YOUR opinion? Thanks Kym
This was really helpful. I'm a big fan of Frenchies, but I've always had shelter dogs that are mutts. Mutts don't generally have a lot of health problems, but they can have some serious social issues due to their poor start in life. This gives me a realistic point of view.
I agree with you Tony, my 12 years with Kara were the best 12 years ❤ of my life with a dog. I think you remember I told you about Kara the Frenchton. They definitely do not want to be alone and are so human like. Never had a love like with this dog. I definitely need another Frenchton at some point. My girl did have Giardia, when she was a pup, she even had blood in her stool. So my vet gave her a special medication as well. Plus, she did have allergies to certain grass. But, otherwise, once I did her nares, she had a beautiful 12 years. 😔😪
I own 3 and love them all!! Frenchies are the best! I have not had any issues with my doggies I love the snoring sounds they make,, Every time i have someone visit rgey end up buying one from my breeder
Man, thank you! Being a breeder of these totally awesome love-balls, I'm faced with tons of b***shit on a daily base. For sure you know what I'm talking about. But you nailed every single detail perfectly! Thank you, again, for providing the best and correct information ever! ❤️
Really enjoyed your honest video re: Frenchies. We raised pugs for 25 years and got two Frenchies for the first time 6 years ago. OMG! ChNged our lives completely! The amount of care, time, and ENERGY required to care for these babies was so much more than we EVER had with pugs. Maybe we had “low energy” pugs for 25 years, and then got “high energy” Frenchies, don’t know. But they were much harder to train than our pugs (bathroom etiquette and barking, socialization with other dogs, etc). And the allergy thing (at least with one dog) is unreal. We have tried EVERYTHING. We have it barely under control now. So yes, Frenchies are NOT an easy dog, they require a LOT of attention. Having said all of that, we LOVE our babies and enjoy them and their cute personalities everyday-and miss them when they are not with us (traveling). They now have their routines, and “remind” us in a very sweet and gentle (but persistent) way when it’s time for us all to go to bed. And they are right on the mark when it is feeding time. You might say that they have US well trained! Thank you for such a great video. We subscribed.
Who watches your frenchies when you travel? Family friend, pet sitter? We’ve brought him on our two trips so far but want to take a few without him next year.
We had the surgery for one of our frenchies and our boston terrier. Surgeon removed extra flesh at back of the throat and trimmed the nares on our frenchie. Helped so much!!
I’ve found your video today when I have to take the hardest decision to rehome my frenchie. I don’t have any health issues with him, I just can’t take care of him being on my own with my work life balance... I’ve been crying all weekend because I love him and I know that at this time this is the best decision that I can make for him But I agree they don’t know they are smaller than other dogs. They are lovely dogs, the most lovable dogs, and love does not have a price.
Thank you so much for your video, I’m a new mom to my Frenchie baby, he is only 4 months and so far everything is fine with health issues, just listening to you I get scared. The only issue I have is that he eats his poop, I have tried diferente type of kibbles to the point that I give him white plain rice, pumpkin and high quality meat and liver with kibbles, is working so far. I do have health insurance too. And yes they are very expensive. I agree with you on the snouts mines is not that flat. Please keep making more videos. You have a follower with me. Ollie is our bright start full of happiness. Thank you!
My daughter has a little girl, Bella, and she had the nose surgery, and is great. I love my "grand-daughter, she is sweet. They are costly, and my daughter has doggy vet insurance and it did help pay for the nose surgery. Bella is very good and well trained; she goes places with her people parents. She has a car seat, stroller and a bike carriage, which attaches to the back of the bikes. She loves it and loves her walks too. She is very smart, and communicates very well in a nice way; my daughter and her husband are very tuned in to her and pay attention to her. Mom- mom loves her too. Thanks for your video!💗😇
I have an am.staff/frenchie/boxer mix: rescue, tummy issues....started her on annamaet, went to nutrisource and a tablespoon of cottage cheese a day. Now she has firm poopies and no gas.
My first Frenchie boy had allergy problems that resulted in projectile vomiting! I switched him to Royal Canin Duck and Potato diet and that worked well. My current Frenchie girl doesn't seem to have the same allergy problems. A friend recommended Fromm Gold Puppy food. She loves it! For extra healthy nutrients, I add 1/3 cup of chicken bone broth at night. She inhales it.
I have a girl Frenchie, Remi. She also a social butterfly and had the pallet surgery. Went from a snoring old man who needed a c-pap machine to regular breathing. I hope it all went well for you!
Great video, there should be more like these. We have a 2yo girl and I don’t think I’ve ever loved a dog as much as I love this little things. She had nares and soft pallet done at around 18 months of age. It was the best thing we did for her. She’s been able to sleep in bed with me ever since. I’m still very over protective of her though.
we have 2 frenchies. both have allergies, one had watery eyes. Adult one we tried cytopoint for several months. shedding did not change, scratching kinda stopped. we switched to making our own dog food. after a month, eyes are completely dry and shedding is down to a 1/4 of what it was, and it was horrible. no scratching at all, except when they have a insect bite. our new 4 month old puppy has just started with whelps and scratching. so now we are on another mission to find help for her. my reason to tell this is to share making your own dog food. try it. I found a man who makes dog food in meat loaf pans on youtube and we semi follow his reccomendations. Below is our recipe: 1 lb. ground beef, 1 lb. ground turkey, 1 frozen pkg. of chopped kale, 1 pkg.brocolli. 5 eggs, 1 can of peas, 1 can of corn, 1 can chilli beans, 1lg. can of chopped tomatoes, 1 large sweet potatoe, peeled and pressure cooked with 1 bag of chopped unpeeled carrots, ends removed. drain & smash these. I add in any leftovers that I have or need to use up. 1- 2cup pkg of cheese, 1/3 c. of ground flax seed, 1 tbsp. of turmeric, 1 handful of oats. mixed all together and put into 4 loaf pans and bake 30 minutes on 350. hope it works for you.
TRUDY HESSE I just switched my frenchie to a raw fed diet! I follow mayor Tyson bulldog on Instagram for the recipes! She doesnt have really any issues except drooling and barfing when she eats, and she has stopped both since switching food!
I agree related to foods...I have 5 pups now including bullies and I also have bred and trained for years...having dealt with several pups with intestinal issues and spent thousands on vets I've had great results from Science diet digestive id... it's from the vet and a little more expensive but works like magic...your baby is precious!
Thank you for this information. Hopefully people check these videos out so they know about, whatever breed. We need your info so people won't abuse an animal they know nothing about. Very best of luck with your little guy, he's beautiful. Merry Christmas.
This is a great video. I own a GSD and a lab, and can tell you that allergy issues are not unique to frenchie's. Many breeds have them. My lab suffers quite a bit and has constant ear infections. My GSD has had tummy issues since day one and is on special food - he's also hyperactive and sheds ridiculous quantities of fur. Both of them can be annoying as heck - that's part of owning dogs! People look at how cute they dogs are or see the cute little IG photos and romanticize it, but dog ownership is a decade -long (or more) investment of time, energy, attention and money. People tend to forget that, especially when the dogs are as cute as frenchies. Educating people on the good and the bad, is doing a great service.
So true! My coworker's dachshund also has allergy issues and had a flare up the same week as Tortellino. The air in LA is so bad with all the fires. And yes dog ownership is such a big decision! Once we decided to get him, I was committed to making it work but man oh man did I regret it the first 6 months. Fast forward to nearly 2 years and it makes me sad every time I think that we only get another 6 to 8 years with him, if we're lucky. I want him to grow old with us 😭The mystery of our day...
I loved watching your video and your beautiful boy Tortellino. It's so nice to see another Frenchie owner willing to do everything possible to give them their best life. Myself, I became a Frenchie parent not too long ago to our little 5 month old boy, Terry. I consider myself very blessed that Terry reminds me a lot of your dog - always playful, loyal, and -extremely- loving. A breed that constantly wishes to be by your side. Terry will hardly play if it's not with me or someone else. Thankfully, his snout is certainly longer, and on the healthier side, though not as long as it -could- be. No other health issues except his very sensitive tummy. Vitamin supplements would make him sick and throw up ( naturally, we got rid of supplements straight away ). Regardless, this video reminds me to always stay vigilant - you're completely right about Frenchies being allergy-prone. Ours was actually not only allergic to the material of his first collar, but also the recent fluffy bedding I got him. He'd be itchy and sneeze constantly. Now that he is no longer wearing that collar and the bedding has been changed for towels, he is doing much better. Frenchies are very, very delicate, and let's not forget how much air they swallow when they eat! I don't know about Tortellino, but Terry scarfs down his food so quickly, and as consequence he unleashes nuclear gas bombs from his tush. Definitely had to get him a snuffle mat or slow feeder, because the Frenchie farts are DEADLY.
Their farts are the WORST! I’m glad Terry has such a loving conscientious parent! You’ll make mistakes but don’t beat yourself up, he’ll love you just the same!
@@TonyCassara DEFINITELY. Terry could clear a whole room with them! Thank you so much, and thank you for informing people so honestly about your experience with a Frenchie!
I like that you are listing all the issues with these dogs. There are people who like challenges and such with dogs and animals. I sing my praises to these people. If you aren't one of these, what you are talking about in your video is important to people who want to adopt a dog. Thank you! I have had 3 cats, and I'm allergic to animal hair. Where there is a will, there is a way! that's why these videos are important to people who love dogs and cats, and want one, but have allergies. There is a way. Use alot of that waterless shampoo, etc. But it's not much different that having a small child for several years Thanks!
I love my frenchie!!!! His cuddles are so much what I needed!! But he hates anything larger than the tip of his ears. And dog parks for him are out of the question. I rescued my dog from a puppy store. He always has to have someone with him which it adds to the cost but he was worth it.
We have a Frenchie. He's an absolute love. He's now 9. He has had skin allergies his whole life and we've battled those for years. Apoquel seemed to help for some time but not long-term. We had fed him the all-natural foods and after several years we ended up with Science Diet Small dog sensitive skin and stomach (or something like that) and it seems to help. We also feed him eggs and will cook him some salmon once in a while. We had to have surgery for the elongated pallet and the vet also opened up his nostrils. Even with all the work and skin issues, he's still my favorite couch buddy. Enjoy your Frenchie.

You can’t understand the love you can have for an animal until you own a French Bulldog.
Nate Mac i agree 100%
I have also fallen in love with a boston terrier but the frenchie is my fat little baby!
@@Lennox1492 we have both and the love is definitely different .. lol
Or any dog tbh
Agree 100%. My boy James is like my kid. Love my boy to pieces.
My dog stunk and shed a lot when I first got him. Then I switched to raw food and it 100% got rid of the smell and 90% of the shedding.
What brand do you get?
Meat, chicken and fish (Mackerel is great) from the grocery store or butcher.
@@patrickpatterson630 Canned sardines are also a good option. Any fish that's high in Omega 3's will help.
@@tl9113 I just make it myself beef...sardines coconut oil, fermented veggies, mushrooms, and seeds...its complicated, but I actually enjoy it.
D. Jackson II me too it’s also healthier for them versus feeding them kibbles n they don’t fart as much n their poop is small n not smelly
I love this video. It’s not like every other RUclipsr. It’s like I’m watching a friend tell me about his dog in front of me.. but just through a screen 😅
Exactly, something different. I'm a Frenchie pet parent too.
Our frenchie had to get a little nose job so she could breathe better, and it definitely helped her!!!
So glad! Ours too!
I've got a pup who may need the same. Got to wait until she fully grow, she's insured!
I want a frenichie but am concerned about bet bills, especially about their breathing issues, how much did the nose operation cost?
@@freyadennis6100 they are expensive even after buying one, see here for costs of his operation: ruclips.net/video/jmB7Y_rGVzE/видео.html
Them and pugs. Isn't that breeding issues?
Omg I melt when I see frenchies. They are adorable honestly. But it breaks my heart to see how much effort it takes for them to breathe. So I wouldn't get one ever. I wish long and happy life for your dog.
Thats what im scared of when i get my pupper.
It all depends on where you get them from. We got our bulldogs from good breeders and neither of them have a hard time breathing.
I’ve had labs for years but wanted a Frenchie for years, our blue Frenchie boy is 2 now and I can honestly say I’m utterly besotted. He’s totally the love of my life! We are lucky he’s had no allergies but he definitely needs loads of attention & care. 😍❤️
I absolutely love French bull dogs they amazing like little pigs 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Love them 2
I love you...period
😁.I call mine my little pig..
Bat pigs 😀
So true
You seem such a nice person. Your dog is so lucky to have an owner like you. Take care all the best of health to you and your dog.
I have had nothing but Frenchies since 1990 when you NEVER saw one in the street!!!!!! They are the best.
Me as well. Have had them since 1993. My 3 yr old brindle girl hardly. sheds. She gets bathed about once a month and NEVER SMELLS .
She has no allergies what so ever . Healthy as a horse . I have to speak up about the parasites this dog came home with....that is the fault
Of the BREEDER. No reputable breeder would let a sick puppy go to a home! At the very least they SHOULD have paid for the Vet bills.
I could go on and on about breeders but that’s another topic. My point is with good breeding and nutrition you should have heathy dog for
Many years . I find it somewhat off putting that some who has. owned 1 Frenchie for 1 year fancies himself an expert on the breed.
Who cares. Good for you
I mean you NEVER saw a Frenchie outside of a dog show.
Sweet!! Frenchies are girl magnets too, wish I had one when I was single haha 😂
so glad I came across this video!
Thank you that is very sweet of you to say and I hope whatever dog you do decide on brings you years of love and joy!
You truly are smart. The most devastating other than the vet bill's is watching these flat faced dogs suffer and struggle to breathe.
Get a corgi they are lovely lol
Awesome hearing the love in your voice towards your dog.
I love how much he loves his dog like a family member.
@@reginagraves9767 what a wonderful frenchie grandma you are!
We love ours too!! Best personalities!
Your video is the best I have seen. Thanks for not being theatrical and just telling us about life with a French bulldog.
Thank you Mikki, I'm just sharing what I know :)
What a beautiful human you are to speak in such a loving and respectful way about your little man
The prices in the US are insane, literary insane.
My wife and I actually discussed doing this haha
It's probably because they get various scans etc. That's the reason why french bulldogs are expensive in the Netherlands where i live.
My Frenchie cost 2000$... consider yourself lucky with that price compared to mine. However, I don’t regret that 2000$. Best dog I’ve ever had.
Thank you for the info. But most of all, THANK YOU FOR BEING SUCH A responsible & CARING PET OWNER!!
I love my Wellington so much he’s such a cute pup he’s a blue fawn and looks so glorious
You are such a wonderful pet owner! Your Frenchie is so lucky to have you!
Haven't read through all the comments, but one place that always has frenchies is the French Bulldog Rescue Network. They have frenchies all around the country. Check out their website and see if a frenchie is near you. That's where I found my Gladys!
I follow them on Facebook. Thank you for rescuing her! So many of these sweet pups just need a good home and loving caretaker.
HAVE FUN!!!
Do they act somewhat the same???
Love you Tony
At first, I didn’t like dogs with snubbed nose so I had always had other types of dogs i.e. Jack Russell, Lab, Miniature Pinture, Poodle, etc.
However, 7 years ago, I saw a lot of French Bulldogs pictures on IG and the next thing I knew I couldn’t get enough of this funny-looking and cute dog. I eventually got one six years ago.
Honestly, when you have one, you need two, and the next thing you know, you have three. That’s how my life is right now. 😂😂😂
My wife is keeping a very short leash on getting frenchie #2 but man do I want one!
I feel pretty lucky, we have a 15mo female, she has no allergies and no health issues. She is an extremely picky eater so it has been difficult finding food she'll eat but she has been perfect. Loving, outgoing, clumsy, and a clown... She is an awesome dog.
Mine loves blue Buffalo
We have two French Bulldogs here in our little family. Both our boys had allergy issues, so we decided to cook their food here at home. Within one week all allergies were gone. Our boys love a diet of fish, carrots, peas, sweet potatoes and egg. Yes its expensive to cook batches every few days, but its better for the boys and better for our vet bill. Enjoyed your video and thanks for letting people know what they are getting into in having a French Bulldog..........the best bundles of love ever.
Worth it!
Also, I am on permanent SSD, so when my daughter bought her for me, I was with her from morning thru the night for 12 years. That made it all the harder. I felt like I lost my best friend. Thanks for listening. Not everyone understands the love of a Frenchie or Frenchton! God Bless!
The time goes so fast :(
The honest kitchen is great food!! My 3 year old is finally having normal poops and less allergy issues from their limited ingredient white fish
ali lorenzo our frenchie has done super well on honest kitchen!
My husband never wanted a house dog.. but my 16 week old Frenchie is great and has won him over!!
So sorry for your loss :( they really are amazing dogs
Thanks for sharing your experience with us! I have a 15 month old brindle boy named Julio, and these dogs are quite the character!! I just love them ❤️
This sounds just like my friend’s Frenchie! All of the same problems, except that he doesn’t have short snout problems. Luckily he got insurance for him before any problems started, otherwise they are pre existing conditions. They did fix him after 18 months. I’m sure that people are always giving you advice. Thank you for fixing his breathing and his balls!
I love the way you love your dog! I have an 8 month old Frenchie named Astro and I am obsessed with him! Frenchies are truly a special breed.
Astro what a great name 😁
Love the way you provide information regarding French Bull Dogs. So clear . Ty
Very sweet! I love that we all name our frenchies after food ❤️
I love bulldogs, every type. So sweet and goofy. They’re totally worth the high maintenance, in my opinion🐶🐶
Sweet owner= sweet dog
I am obsessed with dogs every dog but I have had frenchies for a long time now and I couldn’t ask for better dogs! They bring such amazing happiness!
Man, you are a very good dog owner. Respect!
I know about that problem I got a dog from a breeder that came with that parasite as well. Glad you were able to cure it
Love your video ,I have a Frenchie she is the best ,loving ,my best friend, one thing I found is they can be greedy little dogs but keeping there weight under control is a must ,it does help with there breathing
Thank you it brings me immense joy to get comments like yours of fellow dog lovers who “get it” when it comes to their health.
My frenchie had nares and palet surgery when he got fixed. I would recommend it.
What? How is he/she doing? Goodness
@@rosaelenaamador298 Ours also had all 3 done at once, he was fine. Doing a video shortly!
We did the same for our English Bulldog. It worked wonders

What does nares and palet surgery do?
I own 3 and love them all!! Frenchies are the best! I have not had any issues with my doggies I love the snoring sounds they make,, Every time i have someone visit rgey end up buying one from my breeder
Who is your breeder? Do they have a website?
Send me your breeder please
Please share breeder information
So you love the snoring sounds they make? Translation: I like the sounds of something having a hard time breathing...
Everything you said about people telling you how you're raising your dog wrong is so on point!!
He is one handsome little savage, lol!
Spoil him well; he's definitely a blessing.
I love my Frenchie! Same color as yours. Best dog I ever owned.
He's so handsome. I have a Merle Frenchie named Piper. She is such a feisty girl.
Great name!
Man, thank you! Being a breeder of these totally awesome love-balls, I'm faced with tons of b***shit on a daily base. For sure you know what I'm talking about. But you nailed every single detail perfectly! Thank you, again, for providing the best and correct information ever! ❤️
I wanted a frenchie, this video change mi mind, too expensive, and to many breath problems, thanks dude.
Glad I could help your decision! It's a huge responsibility taking care of these dogs.
I just got my first dog ever and he’s a Frenchie!!!! I just insured him and the allergies have begun at 3 months 😩
Glad you got him insured already! It will pay dividends locking in a lower rate now.
How do you treat his allergies?
We had the surgery for one of our frenchies and our boston terrier. Surgeon removed extra flesh at back of the throat and trimmed the nares on our frenchie. Helped so much!!
So glad! It helped us too!
I have two Frenchies and I am obsessed. They are my babies, best breed regardless of all their health issues! ❤
I’ve found your video today when I have to take the hardest decision to rehome my frenchie.
I don’t have any health issues with him, I just can’t take care of him being on my own with my work life balance... I’ve been crying all weekend because I love him and I know that at this time this is the best decision that I can make for him
But I agree they don’t know they are smaller than other dogs.
They are lovely dogs, the most lovable dogs, and love does not have a price.
I know it's hard but it sounds like you made the right decision, it's hard enough taking care of ours with both my wife and I. So sorry :(
The Official Sauvage where are you located?
Thank you so much for your video, I’m a new mom to my Frenchie baby, he is only 4 months and so far everything is fine with health issues, just listening to you I get scared. The only issue I have is that he eats his poop, I have tried diferente type of kibbles to the point that I give him white plain rice, pumpkin and high quality meat and liver with kibbles, is working so far. I do have health insurance too. And yes they are very expensive. I agree with you on the snouts mines is not that flat. Please keep making more videos. You have a follower with me. Ollie is our bright start full of happiness. Thank you!
Ours is 2 now and still tries to eat poop sometimes... especially cat poop at my parents house 😩
They are pure love. They live to love you
I have an am.staff/frenchie/boxer mix: rescue, tummy issues....started her on annamaet, went to nutrisource and a tablespoon of cottage cheese a day.
We all are!
we have 2 frenchies. both have allergies, one had watery eyes.
I love how he keeps tilting his head upwards whenever he receives a pet
I agree related to foods...I have 5 pups now including bullies and I also have bred and trained for years...having dealt with several pups with intestinal issues and spent thousands on vets I've had great results from Science diet digestive id... it's from the vet and a little more expensive but works like magic...your baby is precious!
You are a. good and loving Dad
Thank you 🥹
I have a female frenchie and she is very playful and greets everyone she meets
What an awesome video, thank you for sharing. Your little dog is very lucky to have you as his caretaker. God bless you ❤️
Lovely dog, very nice owner. Thanks.
Thank you so much, and thank you for informing people so honestly about your experience with a Frenchie!
yeah... Frenchies are superrrrrr lovingggg!
I had a pug, I loved him so much. Just thinking about him makes me sad, I miss him so much.🤣
They leave marks on our hearts 💖
I like that you are listing all the issues with these dogs. There are people who like challenges and such with dogs and animals. I sing my praises to these people. If you aren't one of these, what you are talking about in your video is important to people who want to adopt a dog. Thank you! I have had 3 cats, and I'm allergic to animal hair. Where there is a will, there is a way! that's why these videos are important to people who love dogs and cats, and want one, but have allergies. There is a way. Use alot of that waterless shampoo, etc. But it's not much different that having a small child for several years Thanks!
My father is also allergic, yet still finds a way to love his two cats! Exactly like you said, where there's a will, there's a way!
Get his nostrils and palet done. Changed the life of my frenchie! We did it when he was 10 months old xx
could you explain what that is?
