I'm a male who prefers Female dogs. . I bond better snd deeper with them, no red rocket, more belly to rub, no marking, just all round a much better fit for me.

I dunno. I’m on my third and fourth PBGVs, a scent hound breed. All have been fixed. Only #2 was male. He was my Heart Dog and loved to work with me in rally obedience. Until things got fairly advanced, he’d learn and perform with my praise as his sole motivation. Then food rewards were sufficient motivation. My first PBGV, a female, was very independent. Loving, but she found inspection of the premises far more to her interest than doing a course. My current two, both female, are quite different in spite of being closely related. (They are two years apart in age.) #3 is quite protective of me and our apartment, barking at anyone crossing in front without her permission ( which she never grants😊). #4 barks in play but seldom protectively. I guess my point is these dogs have been individuals. You cannot generalize their behavior based on their sex.

It's fascinating how unique each dog's personality can be, even within the same breed and same environment! Makes you wonder how many other factors could be at play here

My female Chow is more aggressive, louder and stubborn. At 3 years old, she is still toys crazy, barks, make all kind of crazy sounds, plays all of times and loves to cuddle. She gives my husband most of the affections and come to me for protection and quietness. My male Chows were mellow, quiet and one was very obedient and only cuddled with me. Both came to me when they scared or annoyed with my husband pestering them. I am still trying figure out my female Chow. I am still trying to get another male Chow, but it is a lot of work with grooming weekly.

From experience this isn't always true. I've met both male dogs that act like the females according to video (eg. having a very clear favorite person), and female ones act like the males (eg. being very extroverted and demanding for attention, not particularly easy to train and short attention span)

Why do I get the feeling that you are describing men and women?😂
I think the possibility of having multiple fathers contributes to the fact that male dogs are not so interested in "their" puppies whereas in the wolf world fatherhood is more easily established as only the leading male and female wolf reproduce

But dogs dont always act according to the gender. I have seen the reverse with both male dogs acting like the female ones according to this video, and female ones acting like male. My mom have a female dog that is extroverted to everyone (that is human, but hates other dogs), short attention spand and can be very demanding of attention. The male one we had at same breed (but is now dead) was more shy and relatively introverted
