Thank you for watching and happy stitching ❤️

I often use this technique and I enjoyed this clip very much. I stitch or knit every day and agree with you about slow stitching and the affect it has on one’s mind. Here in Australia the second largest tech co has just gone down affecting millions of people. No phones no internet and it’s causing great angst. I feel we really need to slow down and live so we are not so reliant on the things of this age. I still darn socks and mend things and often friends will say I just couldn’t be bothered, it’s easier to go out a buy something new. Folk like you are an inspiration and I look forward to more of your clips on RUclips. Blessings Gail.🙋🏼♀️🇦🇺
Thank you Gail, it sounds like you and I are cut from the same cloth ❤️
I found two strands after a few washes breaks in the garments…so have stopped using DMC threads.
@@juliewholohan2850 I am sorry you have had that experience, I find them great for my purposes but must say I haven't used them much in things that are regularly washed.
I spend 4 or more hours a day stitching for a purpose. No knots. No raw edges. Pick out and fix every error. I love your "loose" ideas. Stitching with you in Saskatchewan.
Welcome lovely to have you here 😊😊
I never knew why smaller numbers were thicker threads. Your explanation made sense. It was an ah-haw moment for me. Thanks
You’re welcome 😊I saw a video about Kawandi quilts on Marion's World recently and must admit I have filed it away in my brain for possible future projects.. as if I didn't have enough on the go already 😂❤
There I was, dutifully practicing my running stitch, waiting for my rhythm to come thru, when the stitches took off an became birds scratchy footprints back an forth over my journal cover! Now I know my journal’s theme: birds an other wildlife I see every day. Thank you for this. The world has opened up for me thru the doorway of freehand stitching ❤ I can’t find the words to express my joy at this new/ancient hobby an how it has affected all arenas of my day-to-day❤
how wonderful, that your stitches took on a life of their own, and especially fabulous that you let it happen 😊❤️
This is what RUclips was meant for. Learning new skills, trying out different things, having fun. I only had a very vague idea about what "slow stitching" was, so this is so informative. I probably did this as a kid, when just learning my first basic hand sewing techniques, but this video makes it enjoyable and opens up a whole new world (and I love textiles) 🙂
Thank you, yes it is by no means a new idea, there are very few of those! 😉 But when I discovered the concept about 8 years ago through a book by Claire Wellesley Smith, it was a light bulb moment. 😊❤️
Who would have thought the humble running stitch could make such a difference to fabric but it does. Love this video
Thank you Jean, I love how stitching changes the surface of the cloth, it never gets old. ❤️
I’ve been practicing the running stitch for a few weeks and it still looks all wonky. Watching your video and all the ways you use the running stitch I’m determined to some what master it. I did find out through this process is I have a lot of patients for slow stitching. My anxiety is gone while I’m stitching and that’s huge gif me.
Try and embrace the wonky 😉 it doesn't have to be perfect, the lines don't have to be straight and the stitches don't have to be even ❤️
I making my first Kuwandi quilt and will be doing a lot of running stitches as I progress through this hand sewn quilt.
Second viewing..still fabulous ❤
Thank you ❤️
Это прекрасно!!😍🙏👍❤
I enjoyed watching your video on and stitching. Your technique I like it because it's handheld first of all, I agree with you when you hold cloth in your hand and stitch You get a better sense of feel for the fabric and you can manipulate your stitches more precisely. Thank you for posting
You're welcome ❤️
Second video of yours I have watched and I loved it. You are an excellent teacher of your technique and your samples were wonderful!!
Thank you for sharing ❤
Thank you for sharing. So hellpful to see the various techniques. 👍🧵🪡

Gorgeous running stitch ..love your design aesthetic
Love your instructions! Can you please do a video on needles and what are the best types to use for slow stitches?
Thank you, I can but just quickly, I use Tulip embroidery needles, sharps with a long eye. They do a mixed pack of #7 #8 and #9 and I mostly use #8 with two strands of floss ❤️

Welcome ♥️
Thank you so much for your wonderfully clear and enjoyable tutorial. Love your work and looking forward to the bag tutorial.❤
Thank you Linda ❤️
I happy to have found your channel.
Happy to have you here 😊
I bought sashiko thread and embroidery floss. I started by using 2 strands of the floss. When I switched to 3 strands, I thought it gave more of an authentic look. More like the original sashiko. Made a bigger difference than it thought it would.
Not saying anyone should do what I’m doing. Just saying what worked for me.
Absolutely, different numbers of strands can make a big difference to the look. I usually use two because I can get them through a finer needle and I like the way it feels when I sew. But there's no right or wrong, you do you 😉❤️
Thank you
Already my mind is off to creative thoughts, you have given me so many great ideas and inspiration. TFS💖
Thank you for this lovely video!
Valdani is a very well known brand for bobbin lace.
Thank you that is good to know 😊
The running stitch universal and so versatile.
Truly! If I had to pick one stitch, this would be it! ❤️

Thank you for watching ❤️

Thank you ❤️
Thank you for sharing with us your knowlege. All your creations are delicate and so unusual. In the positive way. 😊
I have never seen leaf print on the cloth before. I hope you will tell about this more..
Greatings!
You're welcome and thank you. Leaf printing is something I might show in the coming year 😊
@@k3n.clothtales ☺️
Great work!🌹
Thank you! 😊
Well this answers my question doesn’t it, haha! I love, love your sewing pouch! Is that eco dyed? Love the neutral muted colors.
😁 thank you yes the pouch is eco printed with leaves and I think also rust and some tea at one point. 😉 I often put old cloth through several different processes until I am happy with how it looks 😀
What lovely work ! I especially liked the bag and would love to know how you made it … Many thanks
Hello Nell, thank you so much. I will be sharing some video tutorials in the coming weeks and the little bag will be one of them so if you would like to subscribe and click the little bell, you won't miss it. 😊
Love to see more of what you do. A new subscriber here.
Hello Jeanette and welcome, lots more planned ❤️
Lovely work.
thank you ♥️
Love your videos! I have recently discovered Valdani, they have some amazing variegated threads that I am planning on using in my projects.
I am actually using the thread I showed to blanket stitch around an apron I made from old denim and it's lovely to stitch with ❤️
Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome Nancy 😊
Hi, writing from Italy and already subscibed. Love your works, the colors, the materials. Soninnlove with the ecoprinted ones ( hope you'll share tutorials on how you make them ). I'm totally new to slow stitch and would like to improve myself. Is it possible, for future tutos, put your camera nearest you working? In order to see better the stitches? Thank you so much😊 😊😊
Buon giorno (that's about all of my Italian, except for ciao 😉) thank you for your kind words. Yes I will get the camera closer for the next stitching tutorial. I just uploaded the cloth pouch one which I made sitting at my desk and I think that worked much better. 😉 I will hopefully do some ecoprint tutorials next year when the leaves come back and the weather is good so I can film outside. Ciao 🥰
@@k3n.clothtales I've just seen It😊. I'll try making One. Thank you for answering! I wait for all your sharings and teaching. CIAO!!!
Love this! Thank you!
You're welcome ❤️
I like the twine, and your projects are intriguing. I know that you have shown only examples made from woven fabric, but I have plenty of knit fabric I could repurpose. Have you tried using knits for this?
I don't think I have but I think it would work. I can't see why not, but the best thing is to have a little play. I am not sure I have any knit to try it myself.. 🤔 now you have me wondering 😁
PS just to clarify, do you mean knit fabric for the twine?
@@k3n.clothtales Yes, I was thinking about using it for the twine specifically. I will take your suggestion to test it. Thanks!
Let me know how it goes 😊
May I ask what you will do after you sew in one square with various layers, do you frame?
I don't really frame my cloth pieces but you absolutely could. 😊
I can never keep on a straight line when I’m stitching! And I’m totally sober! I seem to have to put a line down to follow. Any advice? Thank you I love your videos. ❤
If it bothers you, you can try to eyeball the edge of the piece or one of the patches to follow. I am not a great believer in drawing lines on the work, also if you stitch heavily like I do, wobbly lines show less. You can kind of use your needle to gently score a line in the cloth to follow, be careful not to tear the cloth though. The line will disappear as you stitch. ❤️
I see more than a few bits of Japanese boro stitching - right? Cheers from French Quarter New Orleans....
Hi yes certainly a lot of my work is inspired by Boro, kantha and other traditional forms of stitching and mending 😉❤️
❤ ❤ ❤
👌🇹🇷💕💐
Lovely! I would love you to show us how you made the beautiful little book that you showed last please. I was desperately hoping you were going to open it 🙂. I’ve clicked and subscribed so won’t miss anything…
If you haven’t already, please check out Marion’s World. Another lovely lady 😊
Hello Moira, thank you so much. ❤️ The little denim book will be a tutorial before the end of this year. I talk a bit more about it and show inside in the video I just uploaded called Slow Stitch An Introduction. I believe I know Marion's World if it's who I am thinking of, I'll check it out. 😉
You really have to do a close up.
I am sorry, I can't get any closer and still see to stitch.. I do try to hold it up from time to time 😊
Sorry, Too slow....
Slow is a little bit the point... 😊
😂😂
Watching alone is relaxing. It’s only recently that I have found such joy in stitching 🧵. So many years never touching crafts for fear of failure. Now I realise it isn’t about that. So much time wasted. Looking forward to all your tutorials 😊
Hello Zena, I am so pleased you have found joy in stitching. ❤️
