So pleased the videos will stay as I’ve been following along with the Monday project, but do want to start the wonky Wednesday ones next year! 😊
Hey K3n, message me an address and I'll send a yard of Splash Fabric for you to experiment with a Stella rain coat. I'm her accountant and have samples. It's very soft quilting cotton with an eco friendly water resistant coating. Happy to share some of what I have.
Oh this does look like another hole to jump into with my needles laughing all the way.
I was puzzled when I started watching this video, I felt like I knew how to do this already and then I remembered that when I first started slow stitching in 2022 I did this over the creases in a colour catcher which had picked up a lovely blue colour! Go me! LOL
Dear K3N and all, thank you for these videos. With the chaos life has given lately, they are a relaxing interlude. Background changes are fine. You could stitch over a brick background, and it would be fine. I'm hoping soon to get back in the stitchery again. My world was upended with my husband passing late in September. Then there was an involuntary kitchen redo as they found black mold. My stitchery has been hosting my kitchen as of late. So yes, getting back in the stitchery is a must. Take care, Thank You for being a bastion of sanity over the past 7 weeks and always.
So very much enjoyed this video. I cannot bring myself to throw away scraps of fabric. It’s a great idea to do this. I’m working on a rice bag from your video to start this very process. Hopefully soon. I have bought a spool from a charity shop and ready to go 😂. Thank you for your videos.
I always blush when you say “Look up, look up, if you’ve gone back to your knitting” because I always have!
Green cloth please 🙏
👍🙂💖🙏 Your animals are so cute. I like Stella, I like Fred Fred 💖💖. I like your videos.
It is all looking like home Kathryn... Very wise words from Maria. Stella and Fred Fred are keeping a close eye on you. I love your wittering! Thankyou for sharing with us, it's very courageous and you will be helpful to others that may be going through something similar. 🙋♀️ Debra in Australia.💙
At 1 hour 25 your piece looked like a bodice 😍
Thank you Kathryn 🙏🩷
Love this! About your question, do whatever is the best for you, the better you feel the better the videos will be. Love, Tineke
Lovely project Kathryn. Would make a great pouch as you say. Please will you make a dog coat. I was thinking about designing one for my little Podenco Guus as he gets cold easily. It's snowing here today in Drenthe.❤
It's snowing here as well. A kind lady is sending Stella a coat. If I made one it would have to be from a pattern I think. It's much more the kind of thing that @marionsworld could conjure up. 😁❤️
Thank you so much for these videos. And since I can't stop sewing Japanese rice bags (using the different techniques you've taught us), I will be giving the bags - this new stitching project will help me with the next gift - with my handmade soaps. I have difficulty believing that people wouldn't appreciate the handmade aspect of the gifts, although I do know people who don't LOVE handicrafts.
Ниточки на деревянной шпульке, однако из РОССИИ или из бывшего СССР.?
Hello, I don't think so, I think most of them are English by the labels but of course other countries have similar ones ❤️
The old quilt is a beautiful background….so perfectly aged!❤
You could stitch Stella her coat in cotton and then do a bees wax treatment to make it waterproof.
Yes that's a good idea. My old coat is a Barbour type so we would match. 😁 Meanwhile a very kind person is sending her a coat. ❤️
Without wading i made a queensize cathedral windows quilt. I had to back it because my handsewing pulled apart due to weight. This was back in the 90s. I no longer have it due to moving countries. But i love doing these...so relaxing
How lovely to hear the smile in your voice near the end of this delicious video! Very sweet little project, that I will file away in my idea book for a rainy day. Who am I kidding, they are ALL rainy days here in November, on Canada’s west coast. We call it the wet coast, which is why my dog has 3 raincoats, as they do take time to dry.
Oh lovely back drop. Looking forward to listening to Finding the Mother Tree. Thank you for the recommendation.. I have heard of this study some time ago..
You popped up in my feed, now I’m a subscriber and I liked you too. Lovely backdrop a light sage Damask, it’s absolutely splendid, and I loved all the pretty colors that you had about the top. And so lovely of you to think of us and our ears and your ears too yes, some of us do not like that clattering. Your backdrop is doing exactly what you want it to. I’m not saying you should do this but now I’m wondering how many of these lovely little bits of fabric would it take to make a snuggly quilt twin size of course.❤ sweet little pincushion.
Hello and welcome, so pleased you found me ❤️
Lovely
Thank you so much for sharing. I love this little project. I think it would make a pretty table runner (I love making table runners). I can't wait to see the bag you make. ❤
This was delightful and sew wherever you want. It’s good fun to me however you choose to go about it.
This was so fun to watch. But since I’m a newbie I haven’t done a rice bag yet I thought oooh rice bag. I’m enjoying watching you working so much. I studied with Jude Hill many moons ago but haven’t been stitching for too long so I am super happy to find you and your community. Going to do the back weeks thanks for deciding to leave those up. Bookbinding is one of my other great loves so the thought of making one filled with my stitched pieces is rather thrilling.
Welcome I am so happy you found me/us ❤️
I think I like this folded technique the most, with the four petal flower emerging in the centre. Looking forward to seeing your pouch done with these lovely little blocks. Thanks Kathryn!!! ❤
Love this, cute block for a quilt!
I made myself a wax cotton canvas coat and, machine sewing, it was quite nice to sew. The wax lubricates the needle as you go and the canvas is grippy. I made a quilted liner with cotton batting/wadding and cotton sateen so it slides on nicely. The waxed canvas was quite affordable. I'm sure you could whip up a doggie raincoat quite quickly!
Thank you, someone is very kindly sending Stella a coat so I am off the hook 😉❤️
@@k3n.clothtales that's wonderful!
Love this on the go project❤ Thank you Kathryn.
It looks like one of those infinite reflections, just going deeper and deeper. Really cool.
It was so good to listen to your thoughts Kathry! Some of my thoughts when I was watching how the wrinkles were converted into a lovely design: 1) I like your quilt so much more than the green fabric, especially now that you told us its history; 2) Even though I like your quilt better, what I like the most is what you create; 3) In my view everything we do has a function and sometimes a purpose. We create or make something because it gives us pleasure, and most of the time gives pleasure to the beholder. Everything that I've seen you making, and creating, is art, plain and simple. Thank you Kathryn for sharing your work and your thoughts. Truly appreciated!❤
Thank you Vivian, wise words ❤️
Kathryn. I'm recovering from a hemithyroidectomy so really enjoying your videos. So inspiring and relaxing. Thankyou!
Wishing you a speedy recovery much love ❤️

Would felted wool be waterproof enough for a doggie coat?
It would certainly be shower proof 😉❤️
This video was on my feed just before yours. ruclips.net/video/Lx4SXk1c2Wc/видео.htmlsi=v1XkRA2Ap9b1XtsM
Love this for a pouch! Thank you for another wonderful tutorial. I've learned so much from you, I think my head is bigger. Regarding the backgrounds, both the green and quilted cloths work well. The idea of using a different background for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays is excellent. I also loved it when you stitched on a pillow on your knee. ❤
I've made my old pup a raincoat. Used the fabric used for diaper covers. Very easy to sew. Need to make one for the new pup.
I've made my old pup a raincoat. Used the fabric used for diaper covers. Very easy to sew. Need to make one for the new pup.
Loving the colors of your cardigan sleeve too! been knitting lately, trying to finish things for the holidays . I made a giant size of these and stuffed it with silver heat flannel to make a trivet.
I was one of the people who commented about getting distracted by the lovely quilt in the background, I just would like to clarify that it was absolutely not the "wonkiness", but rather my curiosity about how it was made, which pattern and which fabric was used etc. After you told a bit more about it and I watched the video a second time, it did not distract me any more😂 I love both backdrops, but if you are explaining something a little more complicated, a plainish background makes it easier for me to follow. On the other hand, I watched the other video twice, so it might be a clever strategy to get more views ❤
😂 made me chuckle. Thank you, but I don't feel happy trying to get more views by making things hard to see, though I think you are joking 😉❤️
@k3n.clothtales of course, I was joking. 😉
Regarding the tablecloths, I think you should do you. I think we are very lucky to have you 3 times per week and I know it takes up quite a lot of time out of your week. Will next year's pieces be suitable to put in a journal? Today's Japanese folded patchwork may lend itself to being made out of paper and all sorts of variations. Thankyou Kathryn 🦋
Thank you. I will certainly suggest ways next year for the pieces to be put in a journal for those who want to ❤️
I like these little Japanese folded patchworks and intend to have a go before Christmas. Perhaps with only two pieces front and back, plus two for a fold over flap, to achieve an oblong envelope shape. Ready to put some little treats inside ! Thank you Kathryn, for another simply lovely idea.
I have a denim quilt project using this method that I pull out and work on when I get more used jeans to cut apart. I bought a specialty ruler from a lady on RUclips, its a great project to upcycle old jeans. Love the idea of matching rain coats for you and Stella!...today is a gray day here and it will be dark by 530pm. Eastern Daylight Savings Time. I'm watching and listening while I stitch on Mondays project. Thanks for the calculator!
A lovely person is sending Stella a coat, I will of course have her model it for you all 😁❤️
Pouches are a great present. Every close friend and family member has had one from me this year. This could be my secret Santa present to finish the year off perfectly. Whichever cloth you put on your table is good we are here to watch you sew at the end of the day. Thanks Kathryn❤
Super gift lucky person ...hi Fredfred and Stella ...I like everything green cloth and all as long as it is you 💖💖💖💖
I don't mind the green fabric at all, but the weatherworn wonky quilt is so storyfull and charming.
I've wanted to try making a Japanese rice bag for a while, I think they're so attractive. This is the first tutorial I've seen where not only have I watched it to the end but it seems easy to achieve. I also love the fact it's all hand sewn. Sometimes I enjoy stepping away from my sewing machine and doing something by hand just because. The fact that not everything is perfect (variable seam allowances) is inspiring and makes me want to shout hallelujah 😀
Yes! Have fun 😊
I would love to know how you made these cuffs! I have a jumper that shrank a bit and I was thinking what to do with it 🙏🙏🙏
I am putting a little video in tomorrow's Park Home Life 😁❤️
I love being part of this community. 💝 you are all such a gift! Thank you, Kathryn, for bringing us all together. 🤗
