thank you for your time today , your explination of leaving " stuff " really resonated with me, i left a 20 yr abusive relationship and left with a small amount and my 3 kids 25 years ago. it felt like shedding my old life. i let the process of leaving my things wash over me like it wasnt me making the choice but that the things were almost tainted. i dont miss anything i left. i have a lovley selection of crafty things now. 3 very happy grown up kids and i am super happy. take each day as it comes and be kind to yourself.

Yes I can relate to the idea of shedding and things being tainted. I am sorry you lived through that too but very happy to hear you came out the other side and are happy again. I am sure I will get there. Thank you ❤️

This was fascinating. The other day I was awake in the middle of the night rewatching some of your videos and I kept wondering to myself what it is about you and what you do that draws me in so much. Then, like a lightbulb going off, I got it. You are real. When we stitch with you it is real. You aren’t like most creators on YT who try to portray their life as something “else” or who are sterile. You are real, a real person. Thank you for that. I loved this video, every part of it. ❤ And thank you for being there in the middle of the night! (I miss my horses too.)

Thank YOU so much. I just do me, I can't do differently. Also I had lost sight of who 'me' is in recent years so it's kind of strange but lovely that RUclips of all places has helped me rediscover myself. Of course it's not really RUclips, it's you all. ❤️

Thank you for sharing yourself in such a way with all of us today. We all have so much love and respect for you. I think there are many of us who have gone through something similar in our lives, so we know it can't be an easy road to finding a new, even better, normal. 28 years ago I left a failed marriage of 23 years and moved 2,000+ miles away with my two teenage children. With limited funds available, we mailed 20 boxes of belongings to our new home. We never missed anything we left behind. It took awhile to find our new "North" on our compass again...but we did and are all happy. I wish the same for you and your children. There are endless, wonderful possibilities ahead. ❤

It's lovely and generous of you to share some of your personal life with us, and I appreciate that it might have felt a bit strange for you. Thank you for the explanation of the financial ins and outs of ads on RUclips. I shall now happily go on a nostalgia trip to the days of TV (for me) and have an "ad break" and walk away when I do encounter them on your or anybody else's videos. It will serve for an exercise break instead and I can return as soon as I hear your dulcet tones! 🥰

I know the pain of letting your horses go. I had two for many years and I loved them with all my heart. We made a huge move to a place we would not be able to keep them. It tore my heart out to see them in someone else’s trailer leaving the driveway. It’s been years since then but I’m crying for them again now

As children and young teens, my brother and I had a little mustang mare names Beauty. She was very smart, very gentle. My brother taught her to roll over, to play dead, to kneel, and to open her own water faucet to put water in the pail. When we moved into the city my dad had to sell her, because as you say it’s very expensive to board a horse. It broke our hearts to sell her, but she went to live in farm and the farmer’s children loved her.
It was very sad and painful to lose her so I understand.
My favorite books are Wind in the Willows and Pride and Prejudice.

This was such a lovely visit, Kathryn. Thank you for giving so much to us. Firstly, I read your "personality type" and was not surprised by anything except that you would be an extrovert. However, I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't part of your modus operandi when you were young and free. Although these traits are woven into our DNA, I've no doubt that the more complex creatives move easily in and out of their various qualities as called upon, leaving some behind as required. Isn't it amazing (human) how we can be immediately sensitive to the needs of others yet completely miss their most obvious flaws. Hence, devoting ourselves to a doomed relationship. You are a beautiful woman, so very wise and interesting with so much ahead of you and you have my great admiration and gratitude for having found you. Full steam ahead, with you at the controls!

I always was quite sociable and comfortable in large groups of people, I am a little more anxious at the moment but I think that is just symptomatic and not really me. About the doomed relationship, yes I did feel a bit angry initially that I tried so hard for so long when I 'should' have known it was pointless. Now I feel secure in the knowledge that I, at least, did everything I could to make it work. Thank you for being here Ann, lots of love ❤️

Kathryn - you are a wise and wonderful and caring person and thank you for taking the time to answer fans' questions. This was a delightful hour spent with you and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I sat at my computer desk with my feet up on the desk and leaning back in my chair. A hot cup of coffee in hand and my precious dog, Molly, a 2-year-old rescue American Foxhound in her bed by the sliding glass door with her getting the early afternoon sun on her as she loves. Your comments about ‘limited stuff’ really resonated. I’m ‘camping’ in temporary accommodation, between houses. Most of my fabric and journaling things are boxed and stored, so it’s been a real eye-opener managing with minimal supplies. I visited a friend recently, someone who makes beautiful, measured quilts, and she gave me some scraps - the joy and gratitude that I felt for that handful of pieces of fabric made me realise how I now value things differently. As a bonus, anything that I make using those scraps will forever be a nudge to remember the kindness of friends. Ps I also gather and keep free magazines from various sources and was even bold enough to ask if I could take one from the waiting room in the garage when my car was being fixed 😮🙂💚

Thankyou Kathryn, for your honesty, thoughtfulness and kindness in your Park Home .
It has been so lovely to hear all about your life.
I too have shrunk an inch after my recent health check here in the UK.
The nurse asked me how tall I was and I replied 5ft 6ins, and she replied, I don’t think so. I did know we all shrunk as we age, but an inch is a lot when not being very tall. For a while I was trying to stretch as I walked, which made me chuckle along to myself.
I have been thinning out my abundance of cloth and recently took quite a lot to my local charity haberdashery shop.
In the process I rediscovered many pieces of stitchings which I will more than likely tea and rust dye and incorporate in my comfort cloth.
    Take very good care.
I live in the far east of the UK and yourself in the west, but would think seriously about joining a cloth stitching class/ weekend with yourself.

When I talked about retreats, I was thinking more of them being organised by a group and me being invited as a tutor, which is how I have done them before. I will try to remember to talk more about them next time, maybe someone has a venue or knows of someone who could organise it for individuals to get together. I don't think I could find a venue and organise everything myself, including accommodation etc. But who knows! Maybe once I am a bit more together, I could think about it. ♥️

Hello from Manchester PA USA. I came across your channel from Kate at "The Last Homely House". She mentioned you awhile back. I enjoy your videos alot. I am new to quilting but have done many many crafts over the years. I took up watching/learning during lockdown in 2020. I haven't done alot but have made several jellyroll quilts. My goal 2025 is to work on quilts for my family, husband, 3 grown kids and 5 grandbabes. So this is going to be a busy year. I like your mantra....do something practical, something physical, and something creative. I work at a lovely spa 12 hrs/week just to socialize but mostly I'm a homebody. Well "I'm wittering". LOL I look forward to going back and watching your earlier videos. Have a great day!

❤thank you for opening your soul and sharing with us. I felt your sadness and wish I was sitting next to you and reach out to hold your hand. Did you feel it? Funny but I have only been a member since October, but I feel like I have known you and the other members of our group for a long time. It is the warmth and comfort of everyone and the acceptance and inclusion of each person. I would say you have achieved a community but it seems more like we are family. And oh yes, I definitely would sit and watch reruns of Breaking Bad with you. Each time I go to Albuquerque for an event I want to do the Breaking Bad tour in an old decrepit RV like Walter and Jessie had, but no one wants to go with me. I have a feeling you would. Lol.

I moved to a new area and managed to join a local healthy walking group and I love it. A lot of people start on their own, as I did, but the group is about socialising as much as walking so it’s an easier way to start joining in.

I did look into it around here but the local ones don't allow dogs, a walk without Stella seems a bit pointless. I am so pleased you are enjoying your group ❤️

Thank you Kathryn. This is my first post as it has taken me a while to dip my toes into You Tube's pond. I was so excited in 2024 when you included several videos of different exhibits you visited or were a part of. I remember particularly the one where your pinnies were suspended in mid air and seemed to be dancing. Then you took us around the corner and pointed out a piece painted by one of your friends... Wood Nymphs dancing with abandon and utter joy. My mind put those two visuals together and ever since have thought the pinnies belonged to the nymphs who discarded them to move more freely and feel the sun and fresh forest air on their bodies. The pinnies, although laid aside temporarily, were still in thrall to the dance so they danced on their own. I in turn, am enthralled by the dancing pinnies. Do you have a pattern you can share? You are a source of joy and inspiration to us all. I am grateful. Denise.

Hello Denise, I love the idea that the wood nymphs threw off their pinnies to dance, I must tell Lucy who created the nymphs. I drafted the pattern myself on paper so can't share it but if you Google cross over apron you should find something. ❤️

Thank you Kathryn ❤ Love seeing you surrounded by colour in your home. Interesting that you like Back in time movie it’s one of my favourites and when you talk about your dad it reminds me of the dad in the movie. I also had horses and rode in pony club etc and had to sell my last horse before moving to another state in Australia it broke my heart . I have only ridden a few times since so I like to make it a special occasion like riding on the beach at Yeppoon Queensland and I have heard about a trail ride in South Island in New Zealand ( beautiful part of the world) that I will do. Family Sewing crafting is my passion for now. Doing a huge clean and repurposing or donating to charity shops now as we don’t need all this stuff, it’s very cleansing and I feel so much lighter and free. Now I’m waffling lol 😂

Thank you as always for being you and your authenticity (and wittering). And just a note that I understand RUclips will place ads on videos even if you don’t choose to place them as a creator. In fact, placing ads at the start and not placing mid cycle ads is the best way to minimise the ads for viewers (which is funny I know). But hope that may make you feel better about ads. Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡

I tried a "no-buy" craft year to de-stash and your ideas were very beneficial, and I am still doing some of the Wonky Wednesdays as they are enjoyable and I still have to use things up, and the Comfort Cloth project has been the most interesting so far, enabling me to continue in my "no-buy" plan. I would listen to the session of questions for the page of questions you did not get to, if you plan to continue to the finish.

I saw that Barack Obama was also a protagonist so in my opinion you're in pretty good company!! I just took it again and I'm a mediator. I think that fit me pretty well also. Hello! I was surprised you like BB. I was living in NM when that was being filmed. It was a little surreal. I actually refused to watch it at first because who wants to watch something about the drug underworld? But the last few months that I was there, I decided to start watching it, and then returning to California that by the time I was caught up, they had completed the last season and I had to wait for it to come out to learn how it ends. It's been a long while since I watched it. I've not watched it again, actually, as you have. I remember not liking the ending that much at all. But then again, it had a lot of strange plot twists. Once I was back in California, I mostly enjoyed watching it to reminisce of Albuquerque, which is strange. It's not really much of a destination compared to other American cities. It's definitely quirky (Albuquirky).
Also to share, and this is a bit convoluted (!) my brother's former partner's sister is the wife of the actor who played the cop. Our families spent a Christmas together. He's actually a nice guy. I can't remember if he was still filming Breaking Bad. I learned that he went to Harvard. Kind of an odd mixture. Anyway, that's something I thought you would enjoy knowing! Have you watched the Better Call Saul series? It's supposed to be a spin off. It's on Netflix. I had started watching it, but never kept with it. Cheers ❤

Have you seen the follow up film called El Camino? it tells what happens to Jesse and it tied up the loose ends nicely for me. I have watched Better Call Saul and enjoyed it though it took a while to get into. That's cool about your brother's former partner's sister being married to Hank. His final scene in the series is one of my favourites. I have seen him in other things too, I can imagine he is a nice guy. ❤️
