I'm not able to sew or journal at the moment,I am missing it so much, as I am staying at my elderly parent's, my Mum has been taken seriously ill and is in hospital, she has been caring for my elderly Dad who needs 24 hour care, I am caring for him now, and my brother who also needs a bit of help, as well as visiting my Mum, I need to be brave, but am feeling very frightened and scared, and vulnerable, My husband is helping me as much as he can between his own work on the Farm, I will try to get some other help next week, just listening to you Kathryn is helping me, and knowing this lovely community will be behind me, Thankyou xxx

I am sharing my art journal progress in tonight’s video; I have used red thread throughout because to me it represents courage also (I wore red every day when I was undergoing radiation therapy; a scarf, a necklace, or red shoes. Hello Kathryn,
Some words came into my mind as I watched you putting the sailing boats into your journal. I’m probably paraphrasing, but it’s something along the lines of
“A ship may be safe in harbour but it does not fulfil its destiny until it sets sail.”
Now, I don’t think I believe in “destiny” but there’s definitely something there about bravery and setting off into the unknown.
Good luck in rediscovering Kate the Brave. She never left you xx

Thank you Kathryn, some amazing inspiration here. This will be my first art journal I’ve ever made. Looking forward to the healing process. When you were talking today about having a good cry and it doesn’t always you feel better, I absolutely agree! It made me think of that saying ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’, which I’ve never agreed with! Emotional pain never actually goes away, we just learn to compartmentalise it or manage it better (my opinion from my own experiences) Time can dull wounds yes,but the experience becomes the fabric of who we are. I think we just learn to carry on as best we can, sometimes not feeling very strong. And sometimes that’s enough ❤️

Kate is a great name for your Brave Woman, and I love the Cheshire Kate! In 6th grade, I was in The Wizard of Oz production....I played a tree! 🙄 *sigh* tall for my age.
I'm still pondering my 2025 directions, goals, etc. I'm not sure whether this kind of journal fits my focus, but I'm along for the ride for now. Wither thou goest.
I was thinking about how I found you this time last year. I was tired of hearing the phrase, "quick and easy quilts!!" and I think I put in the RUclips search, "slow and laborious quilts" 😆 and you popped up. I guess if a person wants to throw together an art journal in an hour, they can look elsewhere.

Watching on an early Saturday morning while stitching on a past Wonky Wednesday (the one with eyelet stitches around wonky holes). I love the crying lady. In my story, she would be shedding tears because her little girl, Kate The Brave, is taking off around the world (in a boat) on another adventure. She admires how her little one has grown into a strong woman who can handle any challenge, but she dearly misses her imaginative little one who conquered the world in the backyard. I’ve never seen something like this, never mind making such a journal. So I have been watching for now, to find my footing and feel oriented. I’ve decided that I will make a super simple version - plain paper, fabric bits, whatever I can scrounge up (nothing near as exotic as Kathryn’s stash of goodies!). That has taken the pressure off in terms of creating an artistic presentation. But I am excited to learn this process and maybe make a proper grimoire-feeling journal, in time!
