My brother, you NEED to react to their version of "Hallelujah." The original artist, Leonard Cohen, said it was the best cover of his song he ever heard. And lemme tell you, the vocal harmonies will make you ASCEND TO A HIGHER PLANE OF EXISTENCE. It is utterly phenomenal, and you need to experience it.

The holy grail (for me) when it comes to a capella:
    PTX:
    Hallelujah
Mary did you know ( done)
Amazing grace (my chains are gone)
    Silent night
    HOME FREE:
    O' holy night
Can you hear what I hear
    How great thou art
Please trust me and check these out FAST! Been waiting for these FOREVER

Just to put it in context, when this videos came out, it was the first time most of us had ever heard Kevin sing. Previously, it was all beatboxing and cello. We thought four AMAZING singers and one super beatboxer was unfairly talented. But he sings beautifully too? Wow.

Okay, I have to join the chorus: you HAVE to go listen to Vevo Live version of Kiss from a Rose, if, for no other reason, than to watch Kevin moving so smoothly between beat-boxing, incredible tenor vocals, and playing cello. Unbelievable! The entire video will blow you away.

I thank God PTX is not in the same place as the big entertainment folks you named. If you knew the club they have to belong to, you would hopefully agree.
PTX has gotten their popularity by hard work and gifts from God. I pray for them to be protected from the major scene of music. They don’t need it. Those of us who love Pentatonix do so on a completely personal level and with genuine love and appreciation for who they are and what they offer. They don’t need a boost up. They can know they got where they are on their own merits and hard work with perseverance.
Im not religious but I do believe in the Holy Bible and the gospel. I do believe in this song! The way they sing it makes it even more special. This group will be there long after the other entertainers have fallen away. I believe this is true of Home Free and VoicePlay as well.
New people wake up to PTX every day and the majority stay with them. We fans are loyal. I agree with you that they should be even bigger but I really believe the way they are getting there is a more solid path to be on. Much more stable. With people like you reacting and passing on their God given talent, more people will get on board and also wonder where this band has been hiding. Thanks for the beautiful reaction.

Always been my favorite part of the song, even before I knew who Mitch is. Couldn't quite understand why exactly, but now that I know what this man's voice can do, I realize why I was drawn to that particular part of the song. His voice is just perfection.

Mark Lowry said that wrote the words by imagining what he would ask Mary if he sat down for a coffee with her. He reportedly loved Pentatonix's version.

I knew as soon as Kevin sang you would almost bliss out. Kevin is the worst of the members, doggone him, he can do SO much. He plays epic cello, he has a sweet tenor, and he is smart, was pre-med when he joined. If he can dance as well... I listen to their carols all the time and I am a Pagan, who could be offended by such beauty?

Someone has already recommended Home Free's version, which is very distinct. I second that. But I also recommend the Voctave version, featuring Mark Lowry, the originator/lyricist for this song. Besides being so heartfelt, he hits and holds a note that would make Mitch or Austin tip their hats (all the more impressive given that he had to use a stool for the performance because of the advance of his multiple sclerosis).

I agree with your reaction entirely. I also don’t understand why PTX isn’t more well known. Not only do they each have a beautiful voice, but they also know how to combine them so that they are a unit, not bunch of individual singers each trying for the spotlight. They were and still are a fabulous band, and I miss Avi with them. Having said that, if he hadn’t left the band, we wouldn’t have all the incredible music he’s making now (have you heard Healing, his newest one?). And like you, I consider myself spiritual but not religious.

Love your reaction and channel. (You are the only reactor out of many that reacted exactly like I did for The Wizard Of Ahhhs. I watch yours several times a week if I need cheering up). For Christmas you really need to see their version of O Come All Ye Faithful. I was not ready for what they did with it, it was unexpected and jaw dropping. I've never heard a version that was different than the original). Also Carol Of The Bells is amazing, Mitch seemingly doesn't need to breathe while singing. We have heard them hold onto notes a long time, but this one was wild. 12 Days Of Christmas is fun.

Loved your reaction, as always. Also love the antlers! Like you, this video was the first time I had heard this song, although I've been singing Christmas carols forever. Avi's voice is like a warm blanket, and the gentle power it brings is so evident here. This was one of the first times we heard Kevin sing a full verse of a song, and that also makes it special. Looking forward to more PTX Christmas. Check out That's Christmas to Me (an original), and The First Noel, which features Avi's full range as he sings the lead in a lot of it.

Kevin plays the cello and he is a tenor. He can beatbox and play cello at the same time. He plays the electric cello on Kiss From Rose and Shallow. They do a vocal only of The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Not exactly a Christmas song but they do an amazing slightly jazzy version of My Favorite Things.

This song is a perfect example, of how far above the rest of the a cappella world they are. They’ve only gotten better. The vocals perfect, arrangement stellar, and location (the bat cave) so cool. They didn’t record it, but I’m sure they did sing this song live in that cave. I would have given anything to be there. You can tell that at least four of them really felt the lyrics (Avi is Jewish)

My oldest granddaughter, who is now 7 yrs old, would only go to sleep if I sang Hallelujah, Little Drummer Boy and Mary Did You Know. My son's ex MIL was having a hard time with her at my son's wedding ( the baby got here before the wedding ). I took her started singing this song and she instantly stopped. I was a chorus, vocal ensemble and a capella kid, I can't do it now due to vocal chords and a number of throat infections, but she still has to have her Nonnie sing these songs every time she spends the night with me.

Can´t wait for your reaction to Voctave´s version of this song featuring the writer Mark Lowry. Also a duet version of this song by Tomi P with Casper Fox!

This is a good version but the best is the one by Mark Lowry who wrote the song along with Buddy Green. There is nothing like hearing the song sung by the person who wrote it.

You can go to Kevin Olusola's solo channel and see him doing some amazing stuff. Try his cover of Down. In-studio, live, with a bunch of looping.

I love this song no matter who sings it, but you should check out Mark Lowry, the gentleman that helped write this song. You want something to give you goose bumps, that video will.

They just released their 8th Christmas album. A total of almost 100 songs.

Please react to O Come All Ye Faithful and 12 Days of Christmas, 2 of my favorite PTX Christmas songs.
Btw, PTX has 6 Christmas albums, plus 4 deluxe versions of previous albums/ compilation albums (which usually contain new songs), totaling more than 100 songs.

This song was written in the 80s, if I'm not terribly mistaken, so it's one of the newer Christmas songs. I'd never heard it until they released this video. I think it was hot among the gospel music community, but didn't get much play outside that.
