    Best reaction to this ever, and I have watched MANY! THANK YOU for understanding from the beginning the mash-up that Todrick was creating, thank you for recognizing so many of the details with respect to lyrics, costumes and set designs, and thank you for recognizing each of their contributions to this masterpiece. I read somewhere that they made Kevin Toto because there weren’t enough singing characters, and that way, as the beatboxer (and since dogs don’t really sing) Kevin could be in every scene. I also recommend Black and White, as well as some of Mitch’s solo work (Your Power cover and Messer songs Angel’s Pray, Love Supply and Machine.

    In keeping with the Wizard of Oz story, Scott (Scarecrow) sings about "Thinking", Mitch (Tin Man) sings about his "heart" being damaged and Avi (Lion) sings that he "can't be tamed"... each song appropriate to their characters

    Did you know that Todrick went to the same high school that Scott, Kirstie and Mitch went to? He was apparently 2 years ahead of them (3 for Mitch ). They also did another song with Todrick - Black and White but it was just Scott, Kirstie and Mitch joining with him. I think you would like it!🥰

      Then another one of a flashmob with all of PTX in a mall. I think they got a lifetime ban from that place afterwards but the security guard who kicked them out was really nice

    This reaction was everything I hoped and dreamed! 😂❤ You're in good company, seeing the Lollipop boys broke us all.
    I remember reading somewhere that when they heard that they were going to be on The Sing Off that one of the first things Kirsten did was cry, and when asked why she answered that she was so thankful and happy that the world would get to hear Mitch sing. I have seen in various interviews every member of Pentatonix state that when it comes to vocals and ability that Mitch comes number one. That's saying a lot considering how overwhelmingly talented every member is, and having explored their solo discographies, I can understand why they say that. I highly, highly recommend that you add to your list (most of these probably are):
    - Love Supply/Machine/Angels Pray by Messer (Mitch's solo dance music)
    - Your Power by Mitch Grassi, beautiful cover of Billie Eilish's song, just don't choose the a capella version, it's a terrible fan edit, and Mitch's piano playing and overall arrangement add emphasis to the song.
    - Mars by Scott Hoying, both the original video and the live choir versions. If you liked Stargazer Lillies, you'll melt just as much with this song
    - Superfruit...everything. Every single thing they do is fantastic.
    I know Avi is already on your list, and you can't go wrong with any of his music, but his live version of House of the Rising Sun is something else.

      And we got three days of rain! The fires are still raging, but the smoke is gone, the ash is gone, and most of the evacuation orders have been lifted. It's a process getting everyone home safely, but I saw blue sky this morning for the first time in weeks! 😁❤️

      @@TeahVickery, Yay for rain!!! I'm so relieved to hear that some normality is happening. And that it's not months away. • @TeahVickery
      @TeahVickery Год назад +1

      @@Gwennedd I am not ashamed to admit that I cried when it started raining. I wish we had gotten more, but hey - some is better than none. They figure that just like the Ft McMurray fire, this one could burn for a year or more because of all the muskeg, and the fire burns beneath the surface, so wildland crews will be out babysitting it for the summer. The province is considering a lift on the fire ban and off-road ban, which I think is a bit premature considering there are still 55 active wildfires, but what do I know? Only one community had severe damage, Fox Lake, they are expecting the total count of buildings lost to come in at 200+, but there were no lives lost, which is amazing considering that they had to evacuate everyone via a 2-car barge. Fingers crossed they can go home this week to start cleanup and rebuilding.

      @@TeahVickeryOh, no! I feel for that Fox Lake community! It's going to be a hard summer and fall for them. Hopefully they can have financial help as well as building/logistics help to get new homes built quickly before winter sets in.
      Yeah...lifting the ban now is too soon. Hopefully this will be a damp summer...enough to keep the bog fires down and get them extinguished. Hugs again!

    • @TeahVickery
      @TeahVickery Год назад +1

      @@Gwennedd Fox Lake is a First Nations community, they will have provincial and federal support with the rebuilding, and the Band is paying for everything while they are evacuated, so they're very fortunate in that respect, but I can't even begin to fathom returning to your home and finding the entire community burned to the ground. Those are wounds I can't imagine will heal for a couple generations, it's heartbreaking. We'll all do what we can for them, though, even if that's just making them feel good one day at a time as they wait for the news.

    I'm so glad you already knew about Todrick. This collaboration is definitely epic, and there's another one he did with Superfruit plus Kirstie. (She was originally in the title line for "Black and White" but it looked so unwieldy she had Todrick take it out ("Black and White featuring Superfruit and Kirstin Maldonado" is rather a mouthful, yes). It's a great song and has a significant message in it about our modern educational system but the video is just so much fun to watch and the music is so catchy is gets ignored. I highly recommend it even if it never gets a reaction video (though it should). The BTS for it is a blast to watch, too.
    Also, I love EVERY song on his "Straight Outta Oz" album. Yes, he has a deep fascination with the Oz thing. I'm not sure if it's based on the movie or the books, though. I am amused that this video features his personal puppy, who is named, of course, Toto. :)

    The Wizard of Oz appeared on television for the first time just a couple weeks before I turned three years old. From then on, it was an annual event, a beloved part of my childhood and a major influence on me and all of my friends who sang the songs and acted out scenes and waited anxiously for the next year's showing. This recreation honors the original in a way I've never seen, and your reaction to the recreation is--by far--the best and most enjoyable I've ever seen, and also honors both the original and this version in a way that brought me such joy. Love it that you were so taken with every little detail. I think it was Toddrick’s all-encompassing love of the original that brought this to life, along with everyone else that then contributed. Maybe Glynda and Auntie Em were the only (tiny) pieces omitted - but even the monkeys got a cameo! It’s a fabulous tribute all around. Peace …

    As others have already said, absolutely the best reaction ever to this genius piece. You picked up on everything! I had so much fun enjoying it with you. Every time I watch it, at the end, when Scott sings, I think, this is my favorite note of the production, and then Mitch comes in and I think no that's my favorite part, and so on. I think you hit it when you named it a passion project. Todrick's first visual album Straight Otta Oz tells his life story through the OZ storyline. Other people have recommended Black and White featuring Superfruit; it is one song from the visual album. Three Todrick mashups I would recommend are (1) for similar production value "Peter Perry" - Peter Pan/Katy Perry mashup (2) for fun "90's Disney ft Shonsana Bean" because she is incredible t (3) 4 Lady Gaga, a favorite from his "4" series and lastly "Low" featuring Ru Paul - an Oz inspired original song, Thanks again Your reaction was so, so much fun.

    Some of what you were saying in terms of the Rachel Berry comment, some of the difference that you are hearing could be where Kristen is placing the vowels and notes plus her own tone of voice. To me it sounds like Kristen is focusing her sound more in her head/nasal area, and is modifying the vowel of the word home to an "ahh" because it is less of a strain on the vocal chords and allows her to "belt" or "mix" (I'm not sure which she is doing here), allowing for the powerhouse sound. And with it being more forward placed in the nasal area, it cuts through more easily and clearly. The other singer has a different tone of voice so even when placing the sound in the same space, it will feel and sound differently. So while they both are able to sing those notes as a "belt" or "mix" sound (techniques that allow for a more fuller sound without killing your voice), they will sound different and everyone has their preference on what sounds more pleasing to them.

At the end, I hope you noticed that Todrick incorporated the original cast/movie above them all singing.

    Well this is my introduction to you & your channel. You got me with how much you loved this and how you were losing it at the same spots as me. The lollipop guild is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. My only criticism to the video is that Kevin was squeezed out if most of the final section. He wasn’t highlighted but he was also chopped out if shot when there was plenty of room to squeeze in together is just cut out Avi’s arm. I thought he was adorable as Toto but I just don’t think he got his big moment. You can hear him but just not on screen.
    I didn’t know most of the songs but I’ve watched enough reactions to pick up most of them. I’d love to heat Pentatonix do a medley of Wizard of Oz songs. It would be epic. Perfect reaction!! I love watching this video over and over again. So much fun! One of my favorite parts, you didn’t mention, is the “Oh wee oh” that Avi and maybe Scott are singing in the background of Todrick’s song. Just like the witch’s guards.

    This was my first ever Todrick Hall video that I saw an d I was instantly obsessed. Some other great songs to check out by him are any of his Disney mashups if you want to see covers and collabs but other original work that is just amazing are any of the songs off his Straight Outta Oz album or his Forbidden album

    Don’t know if anyone has answered your question about “Rachel Berry couldn’t…” I think the main difference is Kirstin’s resonance tends to be far more forward in her “mask” or forehead/nasal area so it gives her tone a more pointed and bright resonance where Lea’s resonance sits lower or in her “chest” so it tends to be richer and more rounded. Both styles are completely valid and appropriate it just depends on the singer’s voice and style of music they are singing.

    What a fun reaction! I’ve seen so many reactions to this piece and yours is up there with the best. Todrick is obsessed with The Wizard of Oz. One of the bedrooms in his house is a Wizard Of Oz themed bedroom with pieces he bought from the set of the movie.

    I don't know if I have commented on one of your reactions yet, but I am loving them!! You are so much fun!
    The Wizard of Oz, and derivative works, resonates with me as well... Especially as I am a "Friend of Dorothy" (as it were).
    Since you are an Ozian (Wizard of Oz / Wicked fan) ... And you also are from "Oz" (Aus), have you yet reacted to Defying Gravity, covered by SuperFruit (Scott and Mitch's side project)? If not, I hope you get to check it out and possibly react to it!
    Thanks for sharing these reactions!

    Todricks, Straight Out Oz, album is awesome. It is another tribute to his love of The Wizard of Oz and a journey he took when he was invited to do his own show. If you get the time you should watch the album from start to finish. Its over an hour long but very enjoyable.

    Also, why does Avi look like Old Gregg? Or am I just looking too hard for references now lol

    OK there is a light sepia filter used. The real sepia tones are stronger they are the range from faded old yellow to deep dark brown. That gives an old warm vibe to photo's and a friendly funny vibe to movies. But it is important that the photo's and movies have a haze over it and the well known dark lines and crinkles. I call it the mafia/mobster vibe!
