Dumbarton football club's stadium lies just beneath Dumbarton Castle which sits on Dumbarton Rock.
It's got to be one of the most unique stadiums in Scottish Football! Just outside of Glasgow, Dumbarton currently play in Scottish League 1.
#Dumbarton #SPFL #Scotland
i had two friends who played for dumbarton way back... tommy and colin mcadam; tommy went onto play for celtic and colin for rangers... (i went onto play for queens park, clyde and albion rovers)... good to see their 'new' ground, i haven't lived in scotland for over 40 years now... good video
Great to see someone taking the time & interest to make these videos. The smaller clubs in Scotland will really appreciate that you're bringing their clubs to RUclips for the world to learn about them. Great video mate, subscribed!
Legend! So glad you think so! More Scottish vids coming each week 😊💻
I love these videos - clubs like Dumbarton are so special to the history of football and make Scottish football so special in my opinion.
Thanks very much! I've also been inside at dumbarton if you wanna learn more about them. Such a cool club... here's the vid... enjoy! ruclips.net/video/WbuPGk2ORU0/видео.html
Enjoyed looking around Dumbarton and the football history, Cote D Ivoire and Coventry city have elephant's on their badges 💙
Never been to that stadium, but went to their old one at "Boghead" many times. My favorite thing about it was the pies! I was born in Dumbarton, which makes me a 'daughter of the rock'
I'm from Canada and my ethnicity is Scottish and Italian, Scotch on my Dads side (both sides) and Italian on my mother's side (both sides) and I found out a couple years ago that my grandfather and his parents hail from Dumbarton,Scotland. So I just started watching this past year, and thou it was a heartbreaking year I'm hopefully planning a trip next to year for a couple weeks so I can see a game live now that covid is over. GO SONS
Great channel like hearing and seeing different stadiums and areas. The slugs seem to be enjoying them self’s!
Thanks mate much appreciated!
Your blogs are great in which you have a clear voice and compliment it with appropriate music. Keep up the good work !!
Thank you so much!
@@FootyAdventures If you want former grounds to visit there are two I can suggest, the first is Cathkin Park, Third Lanark, near Hampden Park and located in a public park in which amazingly the banked concrete terracing remains. It is unreal, if you have not seen it before and worth a visit !! The other is in central Edinburgh, St Bernards who played at George V Park and formerly called The Gymnasium, located at Eyre Place in which both these Clubs previously won the Scottish Cup. Meadowbank Thistle had a strange history starting as a works team called Ferranti Thistle which they were unable to use being it was a registered company name. They changed their name to Meadowbank Thistle in 1974 and played at the Stadium in Edinburgh, before relocating to Livingston and changing their name yet again. Another Edinburgh team with a long history and played professionally that plays as a boys team is Leith Athletic in which currently they play at Leith Links and Peffermill.
Great job, newcomer to the site enjoying it more to football than the so called big clubs .
Thanks very much and welcome to the channel! I've made hundreds of videos from the smaller clubs, some of my favourites were in the Highlands! The people & stadiums have great character... ruclips.net/video/D_APzzCqJck/видео.html
Thanks again! More coming soon!
Coventry City have an elephant, too. Nice video but the swift rotating of angles made me dizzy lol. Love this club. Every xmas I try to head up and see a game in Scotland and have only recently seen how unique Dumbarton's ground is so will try to make it this year. thanks for the video- shame you didn't manage to catch a match there!
Coming from Glasgow... Before you reach Dumbarton you come to the village of Old Kilpatrick/Bowling....The mountain on your right is where the Elephant's head and body shows... It is where the London region .. The Elephant & Castle gets its name from....
Loving the content mate, especially the snail shots 🙌
Haha thanks! The snail made this vid. Without him it wasn't worth uploading
Smashing video mate! Interesting location, mad how they've won all 4 Scottish leagues too!
Cheers Jamie!
Stood in that stadium in a windy November a few year back. Never once thought about how picturesque it was!
Haha, I'm sure it's better on a nice day!
Most picturesque Stadium I have ever been to.
My team in Football Manager 😆 Love the video. I wish one day I could visit Scotland. Cheers from New Zealand
My grandfather played about 146 games for Dumbarton in the 1930's. Wish i could find out more about his career. I was 11 years old the last time i talked to him. Being Australian i just couldn't understand his thick Scottish accent.
Enjoying your tour of Scottish Stadiums very much 👍🏴
Thanks really appreciate that! More coming each week!
Dumbarton Rock was the site of a 4 month Viking siege. A devastating away victory for the Norse which resulted in the capital of the Kingdom of Strathclyde moving to Govan.
Wow, good to know!
They are league clubs but Calcio Catania from Sicily and Tusker FC from Kenya have also elephants as an element of their badges. Tusker FC uses a crest which is inspired by a local brewery from Kenya. KFC Uerdingen from Krefeld in Germany has an elephant as mascot. It's called Grotifant.
Wow great facts!! Cheers for watching!
Yes! Thanks for covering my home town mate!
No worries! 🏴 thanks for watching
I've been there for a falkirk match the stadium isn't the best but lovely scenery and good pub down the road👍👍
Nice! I'll have to visit the pub!
Some good and interesting facts in that video. Looks like a smart little ground. Looking forward to next video.
Cheers Ben!
Inverness Caledonian Thistle has to be one of the best names in world football, would love to see a video on them.
Loving your channel from Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks David! Yeah ICT video definitely coming soon!
Never been up to the castle, always wondered if you could watch a game from up there 🤣 might be worth a shot in these times
Haha yeah definitely!
Closes 4.30 pm on Saturday. Need to be moving from the top half hour before that!
I prefer to believe that there are wild elephants wandering around Dumbarton.
Haha me too!
You seen some of the women here? 😂
The village of Renton / fc (4 miles away) is the team that historically lifted the first "world cup"...
Did Dumbarton v Montrose...St Mirren v Hibs...Liverpool women v West Ham women and Wolves v West Ham inside 4 days in early 2019...Ive done 34 out of 42 Scottish grounds so far...Absolutely love it up there 👌🏻😎🏴⚽️🕺🏻🍻🥃 Keep up the good work and love your in depth videos fella 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
One of the best stadium locations in the world (hibs fan)
It's definitely up there with the best!
I agree from a rangers fan cycled to loch lomand from Kilmarnock last week and went to the stadium and castle it’s amazing
Dumbarton Castle shuts 4.30 on Saturday. And need to be heading down from top half hour before closing. You can see the first half at most!
Most scenic place to watch a game in Scotland has got to be fort william, amazing views of Ben Nevis.
Some Ayr fans nearly got locked in the castle while watching their team play Dumbarton as the castle closed at 4.30pm 15 minutes before the game ended
Haha that's class!
🤣
Nice to see my team and my town getting a wee bit of praise.
Great video
Legend cheers!

Stumbled across this channel by accident but looking at your vids, it looks great
Good work, sir
@@GioMarron love to hear it 🙌
Your channels getting better and better. Keep it up mate
Cheers mate!!!!
Nice video, very interesting and educational overall and such an awesome view of both Dumbarton and the stadium. Definitely a very cool bird's eye view to watch a match too!
Thanks 😊 glad you enjoyed!
Great vid mate. Bet Butler stadium in Dumbarton certainly has some spectacular views. Dumbarton and Rangers shared the very first Scottish league title because they finished level on points . Goal difference, e.t.c didn't count back then. The play-off match was a draw, so the title was awarded to both teams. The other team to have won all four tiers of Scottish football are Rangers of course, since they won all the lower division titles on their way back to the SPL after administration.
bob steele I think you spelled liquidation wrong
@@johnsweeney8243 - very funny.
Thanks for that info! Good to know about the no goal difference thing! Cheers for watching as ever :)
You should do teams like Vale Of Leven and Port Glasgow Juniors they are near there
Hey Lorna, thanks so much for watching! I've not covered Port Glasgow yet but here's a video I made about Vale Of Leven - such an amazing story!! ruclips.net/video/3cRQwIsRNH8/видео.html
Great video, insightful as always! Also what a cool location for a stadium🤝
Cheers man! Yeah proper nice views there!
Coventry city also have Elephants on their badge.
Yes, they do!
WHOOP WHOOP SCOTLAND 🏴
The best!
Rangers are the second team to win all 4 tiers after being put down to league 2
Yep, true!
Let into League 2 you mean.
Incorrect. Rangers haven’t won the top flight yet. The old Rangers hadn’t won any lower league titles before they were liquidated in 2012.

Shame you never saw Dumbarton's old Boghead ground, i loved going there, proper old school ground, the pitch lived up to the name, it made Derby County's old Baseball Grounds pitch look like a bowling green. 🤣
Can you do clydebank football
Yeah mate definitely!
Dumbarton Rock is one of the most historic places in Britain. It used to be one of the most important places in Britain during the early medieval ages and even before that also.
Great video though 👍
Scary climb too the roof the castle tho one slip and its bye bye
I was waiting for this one :) great job as always mate
Legend, cheers mate!
Been there watching Morton but never been up there amazing view I’d be up there on a match day during this Covid a match is a match after all👍
I think Coventry City has an elephant on their badge as does the Ivory Coast and Thailand.
Wow bang on! 20 points!
I live near Dumbarton
Cool, hello!
Have a feeling Thailand and Sri Lanka have an elephant on their badges.
Close! Thailand and Ivory Coast!
Quality vid again man .look forward to more man
Cheers Scott!
Top, top channel!
🤙 THANKS!!!
thats my town of birth im dumbarton born and raised
i remember going to the old boghead ground, not sure if its on the same site
Should have mentioned they played at Boghead for most of their history. Boghead was....old school!
A Few years ago Some Ayr fans watched the game from the castle after being thrown out of the Stadium
They've got a habit of having to do that 🤣 did an Ayr fan not climb a tree to watch the game outside Falkirk after he was kicked out?
HAHAH!
@@Andy-ko5eu Yeah thats right As an Ayr fan myself its the young team that cant handle their drink
if you stand and look at the rock you can see the elephant shape
Fantastic video mate
Glad you enjoyed it!
6:39. My house is literally across the street from the stadium.

@@FootyAdventures sure did, keep up the good work!!!
@@graemebrotherton3548 😃😃😃
I enjoyed this, apart from the fact you didn't mention "Boghead" once :-(
I didn't realise it was such a massive part of the club! I'll need to go back and revisit. Does anything still stand of the old ground?
@@FootyAdventures Not sure to be honest. I moved away many years ago now. Some of the locals could tell you more then me. My era was 72-78.
The other team to win all of the four leagues is rangers because of when they went bankrupt and were put in league two a couple of years ago
Can you plz do Dunfermline when this pandemic is over?
Yeah! I'll be doing a Fife video soon!
Most famous fan,3 times world motor racing champ Jackie Stewart!
Oh wow!
Yeah, that's right. Jackie's family used to own the petrol garage at Dumbuck if I remember.
I like your choice of music but it would be good if you could balance it with your talking
Love the Scottish league the two queens teams park n of the south I follow
These are great videos fella love them @ the moment with the restriction s on I can’t follow my team Blackpool so @ the moment following Kader fc in the north riding league with done the northern league n wearside league this the 1 for me. Sons of the rock 👍👍🏴🏴
Pride of the rock flute band🇬🇧🇬🇧🎶🎶🎶
🙌🙌
Are they Jethro Tull fans too?
The other team who's won all divisions is Rangers
The other team to win all 4 tiers has to be rangers when they were demoted to the bottom league and then spent 3 years absolutely running riot on their way back up the leagues
I think the other club that has won all tiers in Scottish football is Rangers. Dropping from the premier to 3rd division during the 2012 meltdown then back up the tiers again. Thank F they’re back on top and look favourites to win the treble and finish well in the Europa League. Celtic had a very easy time during Rangers absence winning 9 titles in a row and just about anything else available, Celtic did nothing in Europe during that time and now that Rangers are back challenging them they fold like a wet paper bag.
Are you going to go to any highland league teams?
Yeah will be soon I hope! Trying to tick off all 42 SPFL teams before 2021
Footy Adventures 👍
Haha, looks like the presenter was getting chased by the polis at the end.
😂😂😂
The other club to win titles in all 4 tiers must be Rangers, although new Rangers have yet to win the Premiership, so Dumbarton might be the only club to achieve this feat
Don’t Thailand have an elephant on its bagde?
Yes!
Would you learn some Scottish 🏴 Gaelic ?
I can barely say the place names as it is 😂
Coventry City. Not a country but also have an elephant on their badge
Yeah true I forgot about them!
Rangers and Dumbarton have won all 4 Scottish tiers
Yep, Rangers! Ive had a few comments saying that. Shocked how I didnt get it myself haha
All i know about Scottish football, i learned

The other team to win all four divisions would surely be Rangers, wouldn't it? After they got relegated to League 2
Yes I believe so!

When are you going to livingston fc
Soon I promise!
Livingston have not a bad we Stadium well worth a look.
Used to go to some Livingston games a long time ago now as my ex was from Livingston used to go with her Dad sometimes if I was though.

public park.
