My niece wanted a daughter so bad she had one with a guy she kept breaking up with. A man that had a few kids in another country that he wasn't caring for. I'll never understand why she had that second child. Much less the first one. I know kids are a blessing but it's not fair that they're father isn't around much.

You can have as many children as you want on a small budget IF you reign in the materialism. A six year old doesn't need their own TV for example. We raised 4, and our daughter, 2nd eldest, wore her brother's baby clothes. I think we bought 3 frilly dresses. Babies grow so quickly that it make no sense to load up on stuff like that. But retailers know how to getcha when you're hatched, matched, and dispatched.
@larah9870 LOL! More opportunity or teaching them to be consumers? Summer camp was through Scouts. None of them were interested in sports university, and their friends that were in it hated it. Music was through school except for paying for for the instrument. One got his education in the Air Force, the others started working in high school or college like I did. Again, you can have as many kids as you like AND your body can put up with, but you probably can't spend like crazy either. No shame in hand me downs either.
Also, private tuition? Meh, we already pay taxes for education, and the schools in our country are near the top in the US. I refuse to pay twice for primary or high school. Save that for college.
@larah9870 And women are doing it. I'm not talking about religious families either. All those 'opportunities ' you mentioned aren't essentials. A roof over the head, food, and money to pay THAT is the most important. Many larger families live near each other and share resources. That helps. If I were doing it over, I would have gotten an Allied Health certificate first and worked part-time, only to keep a foot in the grown-up world.

So many things to do without a TV! Go to a park! Play a game, make a blanket fort, do a puppet show with stuffed animals, color, paint, make cookies, READ, Have a tea party, play catch, learn your ABCs.

Did you see The Prequel Flowers In The Attic (The Origin) based on The Novel Garden Of Shadows. Boy did Corrine get a "Reality" Check after Christopher her husband died. She had no idea how much debt they were in and she had to deal with issues that she never thought she would.
I also had two back to back maternity leaves but received NO maternity leave benefits. I received $0. My family did fine without my salary because: WE SAVED UP MONEY BEFORE I GOT PREGNANT. WOW. What a concept!
I feel for the mom. I spoiled my son from the very start because I grew up in a very bad home and I over compensated with him thinking he would grow up feeling the same about me that I felt about my parents. It's really hard to realize the uncomplicated things sometimes.
Gail quoted the $250k to raise a kid stat we often hear even to this day, and this video is likely from the mid-2000s... so raising a kid is much more expensive now.
Some things aren't taken into consideration with that figure when it comes to multiple kids. For instance, a LOT of items a person needs throughout their childhood only need to be bought once, lowering the cost for subsequent kids.
I don't understand why raising a child has to be so expensive. There's no need to buy all those toys. Here in the UK we have many charity shops where you can buy toys, libraries for books and shops that sell cheap clothing for children. I also don't understand why so many people don't seem to be able to cook. Cook proper meals from scratch and invest in a Blender for baby food. Give yourself a budget and any money left over goes into a piggy bank. See what is in there at Christmas. I remember, as a child, I loved cutting people out of catalogues as much as I enjoyed playing with toys.
What I seen in common in these videos, mothers on mat leave, take a cut in pay, stay home and shop. Maybe go back to work after 12 weeks instead of a year.
I have two children….I had my first after being married 15 years….I wish I could have had more…but…I m older and kids are expensive…I wanted to give them private school…but I can’t and I feel like I failed

Gail walked away from tv entirely back in 2012 when the network tried to demand that she do something that wasn't part of her format--"Princess" was her own brainchild, something she waited until after TDDUP ended to do, working through the same network----and she said she'd never do tv again. She's 65, a very successful financial genius in real life, and the author of ten books on money management. She doesn't need tv to be successful, she already was so when she agreed to do TDDUP.
I'm glad they embraced the challenges so well. It's also nice to see a woman who is excited to have children. There aren't many like that anymore. Glad they can now grow their family in wisdom and order. Thanks, Gail!
Chances are if they have another child it will be another boy. I think you're having a hard time affording the children you have adding one more could put more strain on the marriage and finances.

This video was a few years ago but I was shocked when she said she was 25. So I came to the comments! I would take her for 35 and him for about 37--he's 29. Did debt age them?
12:19 “MY kids could have a backyard”…. Aren’t they both parents? The delusion of this woman is astounding. I think she is selfish wanting to try for a girl. She will be on maternity leave for 10 years at this rate. 😅 She acts more like a kid when the tv got taken away than the actual KIDS.

When people say; "I'm not good with money, I'm no good at finances, I'm no good with figures...." that makes me laugh. Anyone who has finished elementary school, has learned Math. They s/b able to balance their income & expenses.
I knew a couple who kept having kids until they had a girl. The girl was the seventh child. I keep thinking how hilarious it would be if the daughter turned out to be transgender😂
That's exactly why I don't understand that approach to parenting. I am one of three girls and I know my parents were trying for a boy but then I came...and they threw in the towel. 😆
Yeah, it's honestly a bizarre concept to me to try for a particular sex essentially so you can impose specific gender norms onto them from birth. My mom genuinely wished for healthy babies and was blessed with two healthy baby girls. Both she and my father were just thankful for that!
Feeling like your life experience would be lacking w/out fulfilling the role of a mother is very easy to understand of you keep in mind that everyone has a different nature & personality. Glad to see this episode…I want to give my children experiences…..not more stuff and they definitely have tooooooo muuuuch stuuuuufff
Those groceries were $22, now that would be $60
But the budget could only afford $44 today.
I also had two back to back maternity leaves but received NO maternity leave benefits. I received $0. My family did fine without my salary because: WE SAVED UP MONEY BEFORE I GOT PREGNANT. WOW. What a concept!
That giant jvc TV in the kids room is very dangerous up on that stand. 3.42 Those things fall on children. Someone should tell them. Yikes
I think it's more dangerous for their eyesight, their brains and their sleep patterns!
Well, the little ones are all young adults now, so you can tell THEM to be mindful where they put their tvs in the future.
You’re not putting your kids first if you’re having more for your own obsessive need instead of focusing on the ones you have.
Thanks for posting!
Stellar! Keep it up!
It would be interesting to see where the people on these shows are now.
I feel for the mom. I spoiled my son from the very start because I grew up in a very bad home and I over compensated with him thinking he would grow up feeling the same about me that I felt about my parents. It's really hard to realize the uncomplicated things sometimes.
Great episode.
Gail quoted the $250k to raise a kid stat we often hear even to this day, and this video is likely from the mid-2000s... so raising a kid is much more expensive now.
I hope that figure includes college tuition. lol.
Some things aren't taken into consideration with that figure when it comes to multiple kids. For instance, a LOT of items a person needs throughout their childhood only need to be bought once, lowering the cost for subsequent kids.
@@jenem9618doesn’t seem this lady was doing that in the least.
@@jenniferbond7073 No, but the comment I was responding to wasn't about this lady.
The debt calendar was a great idea so they can actually see money coming and going
Keep the new episodes coming!!!
In this day and age , how can anyone have an unplanned pregnancy? How? I don’t buy it. She did it once, then again and again. Ridiculous.
Unplanned on purpose.
well 2 unplanned, one planned
Or maybe you don’t have to “plan” every birth? Maybe babies just come when you get married? People used to understand this.
What I seen in common in these videos, mothers on mat leave, take a cut in pay, stay home and shop. Maybe go back to work after 12 weeks instead of a year.
I have two children….I had my first after being married 15 years….I wish I could have had more…but…I m older and kids are expensive…I wanted to give them private school…but I can’t and I feel like I failed
those kids have more toys then I had in my entire childhood I would have felt overwhelmed with how many toys I had if I had that many and gets bonuses yet financed computers? they couldn't wait till the bonus came in? possibly got a better PC for the same money by waiting a little?
The most shocking thing about this episode is that she is 25!!! I’m 33 and look way younger then that.. genes and maybe she had some hard living
Apparently tanning a lot will age a person.
It's all that time she spends outdoors - shopping.
Same, I'm 32 and I definitely don't look older than her. I think a lot of it is the styling.
Tanning twice a week, big risk of slin cancer as well as aging
@@rawilliams5881Apparently? Tanning is a sure way to age your skin. Tanning beds are illegal in Australia....home of melanoma. Tanning is just foolish. 🤷♀️🦘
Love this couple!
I wish this show would come to the States..I need her to help me to get it together ❤️
@jb6712 thank you 😊
I'm glad they embraced the challenges so well.
Yes!!!!
Chances are exactly 50/50…
@@erikab178 Not exactly
@@drewconway7135 yes, exactly. That’s just basic biology
@@erikab178 No, it isn’t. There are more girls born than boys. It’s not “exactly” 50/50.
Great couple! 🤩😍
3 kids! Stop! And spoiling boy#1. Stop your bad decision making your life hard
I know right
@@sarah3796 oh hi Sarah! See you Saturday dude!
She did Three Shopping Trips a Day. Dear God even I don't do that.
The amount of groceries they could buy for $22 😭😭😭😭😭
I learned just recently that I can shop at Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Big Lots, and Family Dollar and get a LOT of good, decent food for around $50. And I do it without any stupid weeping emoji needed.
very nice
“I was born to be on mat leave”
Hey I got a tip from you and I'm using it for the girls the girls get allowance once a month for me but that jar ideas a great idea one of my daughter said she wants to put it in Bank some of it and some and the other one isn't understanding that yet so we'll see what happens
Such a great episode
SMH the uproar over a television
Imagine crying because you can’t watch TV for a week lmao.
I couldn’t believe dad said what are we going to do with the kids🤦♀️
What year is this? $20 of groceries in a cart that’s awesome!
I'm pretty sure around 2011. Way different time
“You can’t spend the money you make on stupid things” *proceeds to go tanning twice a week*
I don't feel like I got the same vibe from this couple as most people in the comments lol. Gail should be telling her to get back to work for a while before even considering another baby. Crying about televisions?? what are they going to do with the kids?? terrible parenting.
Interesting when Gail said “Are you willing to do anything?” The woman said yes but shook her head no
She tans twice a week! But kids first?
92 transactions. This woman is the worst I've seen. Kids seam easy if you don't cook Dy home and put them in front of the tv
And wasteful toys! And gates at the kitchen.. get the kids cooking and cleaning. It fills them with pride and teachers them that they can do it
@@sarah3796 I try cooking with Ben but 2 seconds in and he's done
She’s using baby making as an excuse to stay home and avoid having to interact with people.
She does not look the least bit tan.
I hope they continued to do well, and that she got her baby girl :)
She does not look 25
she looks older
She acts younger.
The mom is only 25???
This video was a few years ago but I was shocked when she said she was 25. So I came to the comments! I would take her for 35 and him for about 37--he's 29. Did debt age them?
She is only 25 years old??? I would have guessed 33 at least.
I know!!!! I’m 33 and I don’t even look like that..
I think it’s the daily fast food and tanning
12:19 “MY kids could have a backyard”…. Aren’t they both parents? The delusion of this woman is astounding. I think she is selfish wanting to try for a girl. She will be on maternity leave for 10 years at this rate. 😅 She acts more like a kid when the tv got taken away than the actual KIDS.
"when you think about it, you're only guaranteed 2 additional overtime shifts a month, you could get seven".... I wanted to to tell her how about you get off your lazy arse and bring in some money
Gail ready to make a change!
Lisa: Absolutely (while shaking her head no)
Wow, these people were actually likeable. That's pretty rare for this show
Their baby is adorable.
Gail is gorgeous.
Let's not get crazy now
I make more then this doing delivery and couldn't image afford this amount items.
Was their rent included in the budget
"I was put on this earth to..."
Translation: some religion short-circuited ny brain. Now, I'm not a whole, fully rounded human. I'm juat this single function, like a machine in a factory. THEREFORE..... weep...sob.... i want to just spend like drunk sailor, never work, and everyone else should be so "enraptured" by my "motherhood" that they should just make all that possible for me.
That was not at all where she was coming from, that is solely and only your own bizarre, warped imagination at work. It's far more telling of your character than of hers.
I thought this was just an old show, is it still an active show?
My aunt had 7 daughters, never a boy
WTH does that even mean…?
So all boys @@bettygrable6440
I never buy anything that I do not have the money for. good they did well
She takes care of the family finances and can't count.
Woah tanning twice a week 🤨
I just can’t relate to women who make it their soul purpose in life to reproduce.
Feeling like your life experience would be lacking w/out fulfilling the role of a mother is very easy to understand of you keep in mind that everyone has a different nature & personality. I’m not the same woman as her or you, but I can imagine other people feeling like caring for & nurturing another human life is a top goal.
Soul purpose?
Will be loverly when they are grown
Same
@@lindsay3995 I can understand that. I just feel like a woman should also have some other goals. She just seem desperate to have another child versus building her current family and having a relationship with her husband.
Now a days if they took the tvs away it wouldn't matter as people tend to have smart phones and tablets.
This frustrated more than any other episode! I mean another tattoos before Gail takes over. That’s crazy. Definitely not a good idea for another child. You could keep having boys too highly likely since you have 3!
Scary if the guy or husband has debt . And you have to clear the debt together
