      I had a boss once get mad that a bill collector called the office for me, not because that's illegal (which I'm pretty sure it was) but because one of the things I was responsible for at the low-wage part-time job was bookkeeping. A bookkeeper is not a money manager or financial advisor. That was a couple of decades ago. She now pays me 3x as much per hour to come in and do them, and I still don't make decisions for her. Since I only come in occasionally, she enters most of the transactions herself and knows how often she messes it up and then I basically get to do forensic bookkeeping to figure out which accounts are hiding the mistakes and where and get it straightened out again. I might be crap with money and impulse control, but I am excellent with math and software.

    • @jtidema
      @jtidema 2 года назад +6

      It's also possible that, as she says, she's better at keeping track of other people's money. She is not making the financial decisions at the company, so likely their books balance in the end...

    Getting rid of the private animal rescue was the sensible thing to do. If you aren't going to be able to devote full-time to it, and get it legally licensed and listed as a non-profit with the state/province, it's not going to be workable. People can always foster for an established rescue, and that comes with all food and vet bills paid for, so there are few, if any, out of pocket expenses. Good intentions need to come with practical understanding and a dose of reality.

    • @jb6712
      @jb6712 3 месяца назад +3

      Or she could volunteer a few hours a week at an established animal rescue, seeing that she has some years of practice under her belt. As the couple said, they don't have the room in their small house and yard for the animals, but she still took them in; going elsewhere would fulfill her "need" to take care of critters, but would also mean the family is all free of all the stuff that goes with them.

      @@bovnycccoperalover3579 Credit cards can just be a convenience. You can't blame that - that's like blaming cars for accidents and liquor for alcoholism. Anything can be overdone, or used in a dangerous way. Or they can be used to your advantage. I have never paid an interest payment in my life, and I've had credit cards for 40+ years. Same with my parents, and my brothers. And some of my friends. But some people just have to have 'stuff'. Some of us don't. I think that's the real issue.
