Imagine if they had saved that $60k debt instead of wasting it, they could've used it to pay off some of their mortgage or it could've been used as a deposit for a buy to let property.
They can't handle their own home, so they shouldn't take on a 2nd home as a rental business!!
wow - try to make it to one of his football games? my parents and I were at my brother's games all the time. they were for sure and I was if I wasn't at band practice or something like that.
Golfing 4 days a week is crazy right?
When you’re broke, yes.
the husband can take a second job and they need to live on one income. kids are almost at college age, what's the plan for them?
Rent-A-Goalie...only in Canada!
How is this guy a Financial Planner??? Wouldn't want him anywhere near my $$$. I'd never be able to retire.
Financial analyst. Not planner. Likely he works for a company analysing their corporate finances, not planning personal finances.
Not able to get groceries but golfing 4x a week.....
Where are these detached homes for under 250k??? These episodes must be from 2 decades ago because these houses are unobtainable.
You just answered your question lol, but they are usually 13 to 15 y.o episodes not 20 yet
I think this was 2005, it's funny how the income and expenses are pretty close to now (2021) but the house prices are so low.
Canada
"We're not poor, we're broke" this is a very important distinction
Nowadays they could cut cable and get a free streaming device like Roku.
I feel bad when my mom buys teething wafers for my kiddo let alone borrowinh 60k like its nothing 🥴
I think it was so smart of Gail including the kids. Being smart with money is not always taught in school and kids should have some idea about handling money so they are smart with theirs and not in this mess that their parents are.
I’m just imagining the process of filming the b roll for these episodes that show how povo they are..Gail grabbing the couple and saying, “hey, can you humiliate yourself in front of a dozen random strangers a few more times by swiping your card at the check out so we can get 1000 more shorts of it being declined ? K thanks”.
How do you spend double what you make in a month? I can’t even imagine doing that.
They are spending too much on their cc interests. They probably only pay the minimum monthly.
Sell the TV's you don't need. OMG! "Now what are we going to do in the bedroom?!" 😂😂😂😂
They should get rid of cable and internet and stop buying gifts.
How do people that have that much of an income have to borrow money from family
U never heard of millionaire being bankrupt????? It HAPPENS
Did Gail really let her REjoin an MLM 💀
even I’m more responsible than this. Ok sure, I buy groceries with with a welfare card but in my defense i have special needs and IF i go on it’s a small amount like for charity or for something for Christmas or a book here or there that i can’t get on thrift books or a travel mug. I only get shoes when i absolutely need them. I buy a pair and wear them until I wear them out. Do I sometimes ear out? yes but only when i can afford it
Damm that's a nice high income..
Based on the computer monitors this episode was aired in the 90's.
2006
When family loans money; they should be aware they won't see their money again. The wife can go to a food pantry. They do look at your income. She can show the food pantry how much debt they're in.
They seem so nice, hope they make it.
This is just pure immaturity
This guy isn’t committed
Great kiddos
Wow their house is only 210k? Wonder what it would go for now?
Probably like 950k-1.3 million. Ontario Canada is crazy with their realty costs now
@@LucasFernandez-fk8se wow! Thank you
Million easy
They make over 100k a year… in a time period when that was VERY good money… there is no way they should have had money troubles…
Dang they got crucified in the comments. 😥 I thought they were a sweet couple and family.❤
Ah everybody always hopes that they themselves do better 😅
This has to have been decades ago. Who the heck keeps a landline now?
Me. Helped when my cell phone was locked.
This was filmed 20 years ago
We're not poor, we're broke
Right - they did it on purpose…
I am glad he made the distinction!
"Now what are we going do in our bedroom?" - sad
The dad says " I don't think anyone would pay to see you play" the dad's a loser!
Young man, I am so sorry that "dad" even said that to you! Please, enjoy your life and get independent from your dad. Be successful financially that you will not ever need a dollar from him!
It's very possible your dad is envious of you! Oh yeah, it can be!
Seems like the dad is highly possible a narcissist!
The son is handsome!
I really hope her side hustle isn’t a mlm. Those are hard to sustain an income.
Mlm house parties is not a job and its going to keep them in the cycle of DEBT. 🙄
We have one tv and its a long time since we turned it on. There's not much worth watching on free-to-air tv anyway🙄
Holy bangs batman!
Mine and my husband’s best friend is constantly borrowing money off of us even though he makes over $100k per year. Some months he can make $20k gross and net $10k. He’s largely self employed. He has a gambling problem and an estranged wife who literally socks ever last penny out of him. It’s a big pile of crap. My husband was awful with money when we met too. Our best friend has told me multiple times that he wants me to manage 30% of what he takes home which I’m more than happy to do for him. He just needs to start.
Rule number 1 , never lend money to gamblers, ever, especially if they are relatives.
“Now what are we gonna do in our bedroom?” - lol
I loved Xweighted
Big fan of show but this episode disappoints. I agree with many comments: some of their 'free' activities are not really free, not telling of Gerry to reduce golf - 4 times a week is excessive when in debt that much.
No mention of them actually earning the extra income - both said they would but did they really? Gail always asked - didn't hear it here. How did they get the $5k?
Dunno. The husband doesn't seem too worried about having consumer debt.
Golfs 4 times a week and is worried about extra work cuts into family time?
Financial Analyst? Can't handle his own debt. It's not a laughable matter Mrs. You can't buy food for your kids. How us that funny???
He could get a job teaching at a local community college.
Teaching what? How to be financially irresponsible and bad at adulting ?
She has a beautiful mother and sister.
