It's about time you reacted to this, this is one of the best comedies of 2008. I swear Robert Downey Jr performance as the Aussie dressed as black man has me on the floor. As a black man, it doesn't even bother me. What did Ben Stiller have to apologize for ? He made a legendary movie.

"Man, I don't drop character 'till I done the DVD commentary." Fun Fact: When recording the audio commentary for the Unrated DVD and Blu-ray, Robert Downey, Jr. actually spends the entire commentary in the character that appears on the screen as the movie progresses. Historical Fact: The South East Asian gang Flaming Dragon, led by a pre-teen boy, was modeled after God's Army, a guerrilla army in Myanmar. The group was led by twin brothers Johnny Htoo and Luther Htoo, who were nine years old when it was founded in 1997. Johnny and Luther Htoo were fond of American action movie heroes, especially the Rambo franchise. Cruise Unbound Fact: Ben Stiller said nearly all aspects of the Les Grossman character were developed by Tom Cruise, including the dancing and the look of the make-up. Stiller said that in addition to the more obvious make-up effects applied to Cruise's face and head, and the extra hair on his chest and arms, Cruise also decided to play the character wearing oversized prosthetic hands.

Ben Stiller is the reason I wanted to work in the movie business. I have always loved him as an actor especially the night at the museum movies but ever since I found out that he also directs like this movie, zoolander and others, that really inspired me to make movies of my own for a career! thank you so much for checking this movie out! love your reactions as always!
One joke in this movie doesn't play out in the actual movie When Robert Downey Jr's character says i don't Drop character till the DVD Commentary it's true he does the DVD Commentary as his movie Character
as an actor myself cody I find it really awesome and impressive that you're able to cry so easily. That's gonna come in real handy. Wish I could cry that naturally. I usually rely on listening to movie or tv series soundtracks that remind me of the emotional scenes when said music was playing before i enter a scene. That makes it fairly easy for me to cry.
Ben Stiller is absolutely phenomenal in this movie, never thought things could get even better with him ever since Night at the museum which every time i see this man i only think of those movies.
*"Fartin' in the bathtub, laughing ya ass off"* I heard my daughter (13 now, 4 then) say that line to her new puppy Jason when giving him a bath. The day I discovered parental controls.
The best part of Tom's rant there was afterwards when he says to his guy "Can you uh find out who that was?" He just reamed someone out just because lol. I heard that Tom based his performace off of how he thought of Weinstein too
"I am Sam" is regarded as the most Oscar-bation film of all time, right up there with "Green Book", the only difference was critics saw right through the movie and now look back on it with as much fondness as "Crash".
Have you seen the RDJ movie about like a French physician? I went on a RDJ binge and found it on Netflix I believe. It was years ago. For awhile I did a thing where when I decided I liked an actor I tried to find all the movies they’ve been in I could easily watch. I did it with David Tennant and Anton Yelchin (before he passed)
12:30 I had a similar experience in a musical where we had to freeze while looking at each other; my scene partner would always start laughing. He asked how I managed to keep a straight face so I told him to think of something sad, like a dead dog. The next time (actually, every time! 😈) we ran that scene thereafter, we’d freeze - then just as soon as I sensed he’d got his composure, I’d quietly ventriloquise “Dead dog”, and he’d crack up!
RDJ was actually nominated for Best Supporting Actor for this very movie. There was no way he was beating Heath Ledger's Joker though (if Tropic Thunder was released the year before or after, RDJ would have had it in the bag). Also note that this movie came out the same year as Iron Man, meaning that it was chiefly the year 2008 that turned him from a risky prospect (due to his substance abuse issues), into one of the most beloved actors of our time. I actually view this as one of the most intelligent comedies I've ever seen. It doesn't hold audiences' hands; it assumes that most people are going to get the references, and lo and behold, most people do. And it is also metatextually on-point. Listen to RDJ/Lazarus explain why Speedman's _Simple Jack_ character doesn't work. He can see that Speedman has taken it too far, and the audience can't connect (he even says that Speedman brought it back a notch in the re-enactment, helping to "bridge the aesthetic distance"). So Lazarus is perfectly capable of seeing how ridiculous this is in another actor's work, but to recognize for himself why his method acting and (specifically) the blackface is not a good choice (to say the least) is far more difficult for him (although he does come to realize this at the end). This film makes me respect Ben Stiller, because he both wrote AND directed it. He understands the milieu in which he works (Hollywood), and perfectly rips it a new one in this film. It is certainly one of the best comedies ever made, of that I have no doubt.
Robert Downey Jr. was a real addict and did jail time for it almost 2 years. He was a functional drug user but it became a problem. He ended up breaking into someone's house and falling asleep in a kid's bedroom. No one wanted to hire him after that, and Mel Gibson fronted him a movie insuring it so that he could do it. It was called The Singing Detective. But the one that got him in the running for Iron Man was Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang, with Val Kilmer. That one is really funny you need to see it. React to it.
The idea behind Simple Jack is basically Ben Stiller auditioned for Forest Gump and what we see as Simple Jack was how he portrayed Forest....I would pay anything to see it
Still just 3 minutes into the video but I wanted to say that you are not the only one that is confused and asks if that is part of the movie or if they accidentally got the wrong movie, but imagine being in the movie theater when this first came out and having no idea if these are actually trailers for real movies. I completely understand your point. As one with Asperger´s diagnose, I felt that long time. Now days, I think it´s ok. Its called acting for a reason. People become other person and that is skill. I mean should every actor deny role for not fullfilling special label? Is it any more acting or just bringing people to play themselves? So I decided I don´t mind these things or what actors / actress´do in their personal life. I admit, I have been enjoying movies more when just enjoying films as films.

McCluskey, Sikorsky, Kandinsky.

Satan's Alley is the spinoff we need.
