The nephew episode is REALLY good, and tackles a pretty heavy topic. The dark hand trying to become good role models for their nephews, but still falling to villany, is a very real problem a lot of people who have been incarcerated face. Once they have a felony or jail time, it's extremely difficult to find work, apply for loans, or anything else they would need to get back on their feet. This leads to them commiting crime again just to survive (like them stealing toilet paper). The scene where they tell the nephews they might see them again next summer was kinda heart wrenching to me, as my nieces and nephews look up to me as well.
Yeah there’s definitely something to be said about how they were suspected of stuff all throughout the episode, even while doing community service. Thank you for sharing

Drago being the main antagonist isn't actually a bad idea. Even though the first season antagonist was a bigger dragon, he had next to no action time. The masks were more about the shadow khan while the demons give multiple powers within a. Theme They did drop the ball on how they beat each demon. It would be a lot more interesting if they had to defeat them by utilizing something that reflected what each weapon represented.
I think the combat was pretty good in all the cases though it felt a little similar, it’s probably more of a good thing. Drago is a good concept, especially as a more edgy character, it may appeal to a slightly older audience too, especially since the show was now 5 years after it’s release

The odd thing is the timing of Jackie Chan Adventure in terms of scheduling. Episode 5 came back on after a long hiatus. Episode 11 was aired after the finale, which raises further questions on the talismans. Maybe it's best we didn't get a season 6. Otherwise it'll be a repeat of season 5 with Tarakudo's twin sisters looking for the items that defeated the Oni Generals. Reason with the twins, because each Oni or Hannafudo cards was representing the month of the year as February and September were omitted for ethical reasons.
That’s really interesting I know there’s the controversy with the rising sun in a hanafuda deck, like Tanjiro’s earrings in demon slayer, but I didn’t know februarys cards were offensive? I’d love to know more about that. Also releasing episode 11 after is pretty interesting, another comment pointed out it released afterwards and felt almost like an epilogue

Thanks for finally covering the whole series. I will admit, Drago is practically the weakest villain of the whole series. In fact going back to the crossover fanfic J-WITCH (more specifically the second season, which is an alternate take on JCA Season 5, and W.I.T.C.H Season 2) I think Drago’s infinitely more interesting there than in canon. And not to spoil too much here, but the fanfic also delves into his origin and how Shendu conceived him. Plus it’s not just Drago that’s improved in J-WITCH Season 2, pretty much the whole Demon Chi arc is made a lot more interesting than in canon. Though there are some parts that stay relatively the same with a few minor alterations. On the W.I.T.C.H side however, it starts out relatively the same as the canon W.I.T.C.H Season 2, but half way through ( as of now) the story veers off from the canon in a much more interesting way. For sure, definitely plan on looking into w.i.t.c.h still, and they set up drago to be edgy and ruthless, that’s really the only angle he could have, but he didn’t have many situations in the show where he could do this, but I could totally see the potential of him being a lot harsher of a character, maybe even more of a threat to citizens etc

It's been a great ride! Thanks for this series I'll stick around to see what else you come up with - revisiting 90s/00s/early 10s cartoons is awesome to me.
For me, I thought it was a shame that they didn't give Valmont more attention at the end. He was a capable fighter and aside from that Oni mask and cursed cat episode, it would have been interesting to see more episodes involved with him, though it was ironically fitting to see a once powerful crime boss reduced to being a bus driver.
Yeah it would’ve been nice if he showed up in the final battle but being the bus driver is pretty cool, for him to do something thankless and not very glamorous. I really forgot about that part but actually may have been a nicer touch for him than any of the other enforcers
28:38 Frieza? Not ONCE did he ever have an equal reason to the heroes! He's openly evil at all times and embraces it! Being unapoligetic is why I love him as a villain though.
I didn’t make that image or at least specifically for that context but I don’t know if any of those villains are as justified as the protagonists but Griffith is definitely the most interesting here to me, though haikyuu may be my favorite from this list
@@Colby2D Ah ok. Yeah, Griffith is definitely an interesting one as he has a deeper understanding of the way the world works in his setting. If you ever get the chance, look up the removed chapter. It’s a classic. You can always go back to cover the season 2 fillers. Some actually take place in season 1 timeline. I'm a big fan of The Monkees and Jackie Chan (this cartoon included) and I never knew there was a connection. That was an awesome bit of trivia. For those not in the know, The Monkees was also behind the song, I'm a Believer, from Shrek. (Though it was a Smashmouth cover in the film) Also for the long hair thing, the 60s were definitely a much different time lol.
Jackie Chan adventures was one of the best Warner brothers shows back then, I would like to see it make an epic comeback with more awesome stories and all the characters and villains return for it
1. I feel like Drago really is the weakest villain of the series *mainly* because of his execution, like you said. He has a solid foundation going on, but he really does feel like a less interesting, less intimidating Shendu. Even his plot of trying to release demonkind from the Netherworld into the Human World is a soft rehash of Shendu's plot to try and release his siblings from Season 2. Him trying to effectively outdo his father and get out from under his shadow COULD have been interesting if they had focused on it more. In the end I think its better the show ended here because: A) I really don't know where else they could go after this. B) Having everyone, even Shendu, work together to fight one big threat and seal all the magic away felt like a near perfect sendoff 2. Like the Shaolin Showdown breakdown/retrospective this was such a fun ride down memory lane! PS: Shaolin Chronicles is NOT, I repeat NOT a part of the original's continuity. Its also not really a reboot. Its complicated. I'll explain further when you inevitabely cover it, but just know even the creator of Showdown, Christy Hui, has effectively disowned it because it tarnished the legacy of the original series THAT much.
All really good points, definitely agree about drago and shendu, and I have such a soft spot for villains joining the party I would’ve never guessed shendu would help save the day in the end, though I kinda wish there was a little more motivation behind both shendu and drago’s actions. And yeah I’m aware of a lot of the controversy behind chronicles, but boy is it a rough watch so far, much harder than I anticipated
That could be fun sometime, I feel like I wouldn’t have much unique to provide on the series that creators like Jordan fringe haven’t covered, but I think it’d be fun to take an angle more learning the game and comparing it to the show! Also I have to ask what is your pfp from, it kinda reminds me of a beyblade or duel masters character and I know I’ll feel dumb when I find out
@ 36:35 HUGE missed opportunity here! You could have mentioned that Jackie was going to help Shendu against Drago, but Jade holds him back, giving him the same advice he gave her many times: the Greatest Victory is the Battle NOT Fought. And that it started by listening to Tohru. Jade was not going to win against a collapsing building, and once she realized that, she knew Tohru would never forgive himself if she got hurt, let alone killed. This shows the culmination of her character growth and maturity throughout the entire series. So yeah, BIG Missed opportunity there.
To be honest the show never felt like a Jackie show to me. It’s always felt like a jade show featuring Jackie. It’s sort of like a supergirl show with Superman as her guardian watching out for her. A lot of episodes revolves around her pov if not all of it from her school life to regular weekly mischief especially when she gets a lot of powers from shadow khan, various power of the week, and the one to save the day sort of since she remember the book of ages. Often, I find Jackie to be the sidekick. It’s like Kurt Russell big trouble in Chinatown movie where the capable fighter is the sidekick.
Hey I did enjoy your Jackie Chan Avengers series that was really good and I enjoyed your other videos you did a awesome job give us facts about the show in the history of Jackie Chan too thank you very much for all that keep on a good working with your contents I hope you have a awesome day and one more thing I can't wait to watch your next video next week have a great day☺😎👍
You know, remember during season two that uncke's regular encantation worked just fine against scottish magic, how come then, was completely ineffective against japanese one?
only guess is that it is derivative of chinese as japan's history is an offshoot of chinese history as if I recall japan's population came from chinese immigrants WAAAAAY back in the past. so being derivative and due to historical wars they may have made their magic immune or resistant... though at the same time Shendu was using Shadow Khan so shadow khan may need specialized magic to beat each one and the chinese chi wizards at the time eventually found the formula to beat his shadow khan to defeat Shendu
I’m here for Lucy Liu shoutout! I also enjoy that Jade had her own version of Enforcers in the form of the nephews to the grown Enforcers, but find it a bit ridiculous that they all have nephews around the same age.
Jackie Chan Adventures had a lot of good stuff, characters lore, McGuffins power ups as well mythology galore. Thanks for looking into it! As a Chan Fan I did collect the Jackie Chan Mags along with the collectables. That said I'm looking forward to seeing your vids on the Jackie Chan Adventures media.
The fact they got 5 seasons of this show is something I didn't know. I thought it ended after the masks season. You can only get so far with hunt the magical macguffin of the day.
The biggest issue with this season is definitely Drago. He worked as a one off antagonist but he's not interesting enough to carry an entire season I feel. Then you got his henchman and they just exist and I think they worked better as one off villains in a Dark Hand centric episode. I can't help but to wonder if this season would've been better if The Dark Hand stayed as Drago's henchman. I know they wouldn't have wanted to be redundant by turning them into monsters again like with Daolon Wong but maybe they could've made Draco at least more entertaining. Although that could just be my Dark Hand bias showing. Personally whenever Drago showed up in an episode, my interest quickly went downward. There had to have been a villain from a previous episode they could've used. Maybe Valmont in some way to go full circle but I could just be talking nonsense.
It's been quite a nostalgia trip, and it was great to hear all your thoughts. Maybe an addendum video covering some of the one offs you skipped a few seasons back can be done one day. ^_^
Good luck with Xaiolin Showdown Chronicles, those episodes are either gonna make you question if it’s a continuation of the old series or question if it’s an outright reboot with the amount of inconsistencies, and general weirdness.
Just need to interrupt here real quick - For years I've tried to figure out what to call that playground equipment, besides "Big spiderweb thing." You have just solved a lifelong mystery. "Climbing dome." Ok, back to the vid. 😆
I agree that Season 5 and Drago were the weakest season and villain of the series. In spite of that, I really love season 5, but it's completely for Drago. Like you, I tend to hyperfixate on unexplained details, but even more so with lore and rules of a world. Ever since season 2 introduced the Demon Sorcerers, they became my favorite aspect of the show. I wanted to know more about them, more about their world and potentially other Demon Sorcerers beyond Shen Du and his siblings. Of course, we don't learn much beyond that, so I went away with it myself. As for Drago, well, I love me some dragon boys. What can I say, I see a bad boy and go "I can fix him!" and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Just like with Demon Sorcerers, I started coming up with my own idea of Drago's past (including that I strongly believe he's half-demon, half-human) and with how much he resents Shen Du and wants to strike out on his own path, I felt there was strong potential in Drago's future for something of a Zuko-like redemption arc, maybe not to the wonderous scale of Zuko's, but something where Drago could realize that he doesn't have to stay in his father's shadow or try to surpass him, where what he does doesn't have to relate to Shen Du at all. But that's just me. I know it's not the best of the show, but I'll always enjoy Season 5 just because I love Drago. I also got to meet Michael Rosenbaum at a convention and gave him a Drago poster I made :D
That’s so cool, thank you for sharing. I absolutely love the idea of drago being half dragon that would add so much intrigue to the lore of the series too, like there’s dragon people within the society. I thought the legendary warriors that defeated the demons were going to actually be present this season, but I think it set up a lot of cool stuff with the background lore of the show like the immortal weapons, but yeah I look at season 5 as a slightly more mature chill season that had a lot of potential to go a little more of a “jackie Chan shippuden” route
@@Colby2D Thank you so much for replying to me :) I'm with you there. Season 5 as it was was a bit of a low note to end the series on, but it had potential to set up for something more and I would have loved it if Drago continued to play a part. This show was such a big part of my childhood and I really enjoyed watching your videos covering the series. It was like taking a fond walk down memory lane!
I love seeing your editor jokes play out in your videos. Your tangent of Jade turning into a donkey amd starting the video off like that had me laughing.
I actually never saw the original future episode, so when I first watched the last season, I had no idea who Drago was and that confused me even more, which made me actually dislike him further. They definitely could have fleshed him out in different episode in earlier seasons, but then again I really don't like the whole troupe of characters from the future coming to save their present selves.
I never had an Imaginary friend as me and my brothers were always so close, and always hung out, plus we had several friends, most were common friends, but a few were seperate. We did, at one point make an imaginary friend as a joke, like everytime someone asked if an empty chair was occupied, we'd joke that out Imaginary friend was sitting there.
24:22 They definitely recieved a ton of fan questions. Kids will be kids and ask random questions. Even if Jackie never flew a plane, you know he'd have an answer like "No, but I plan to some day. Flying a plane would have a strong feeling of freedom and sounds like fun, maybe I will even do a barrel roll!"
I went to the Winchester house once. I was disappointed . The house itself was not disappointing. I just thought it was going to be in a more secluded area.
I figure they don’t really come up much this season, they do in the fusions, but even then I was hoping the legendary warriors would have been more involved too
The weird thing is how much chi remnant are left in the ancient items. Are we suppose to believe and take it that drago got all of his uncle and aunts full powers now and Shendu is somehow still equal to him after how much he fear them even when he’s in his complete form in the season 2 finale. I get they didn’t want redo the dark hand enforcer gag where they become minions again, but the replacement trio was so stereotypical try hard bad.
I had an imaginary friend name boy and before I stop believing in him I imagine another one called girl, so even though I won't be there with him at least he has a gf/friend to keep him company. I like to imagine they are together with a house and have a couple of kids
I feel like they did the best they could with the two-parter ending given how lackluster the rest of the season was. It's always nice to have a tearjerker moment and getting Shendu to be Drago's demise was great. Episode 11 with Jimmy seems so out of left field to me, as if it were written for a different season with a different overarching plot. I share this sentiment with a couple other episodes such as the Queen of the Shadowkhan from season 2 (and I really think this one episode inspired the whole of season 4!). They're both great episodes, but don't really fit in with their season.
Regarding the Drago chant, you can’t really translate Pinyin (romanized Chinese) least through programs as far as I’ve seen (to be fair Draco’s chant doesn’t sound like any form of Chinese I’ve heard) On the future episode spoiling things from the way I watched the season it’s the final episode which shows us the future after all the big season finale stuff so it’s more of an epilogue episode
I’m still find it odd to think, wow there was a season after the demon mask saga. A little overwhelming to think about. How much of a downgrade this season was but the final episode is a spectacle. Definitely a satisfying fair well & a battle for the ages.
I watched most of this season on Netflix. It’s still kind of bothers me how allegedly these are the original items used to seal the demons from season two but they barely look old. Or our organic items that probably shouldn’t have survived hundreds of years like a flower or a lotus. Way that they probably could’ve fixed it. This plot point would’ve been a big magic event that sent to the other demons Chi into those objects across the world. It may have been derivative of season three but this is a very formulaic show.
Ah yes, End of Jackievangelion.
Jackie Changelion.
True is a cruel thesis.

Also for the long hair thing, the 60s were definitely a much different time lol.
Jackie Chan adventures was one of the best Warner brothers shows back then, I would like to see it make an epic comeback with more awesome stories and all the characters and villains return for it
I could definitely see it nowadays, almost like a style of the new Superman show
In the end I think its better the show ended here because:
A) I really don't know where else they could go after this.
B) Having everyone, even Shendu, work together to fight one big threat and seal all the magic away felt like a near perfect sendoff
2. Like the Shaolin Showdown breakdown/retrospective this was such a fun ride down memory lane!
PS:
Shaolin Chronicles is NOT, I repeat NOT a part of the original's continuity.
@@Colby2D and it doesn't get better either unfortunately. What they did to Chase in particular was a war crime lol
@@filipvadas7602 he was one of my favorites too lol
Am glad i warched this series fully back in the day and am equally glad i came across your review. Loved the nostalgia trip! Most excellent
Voice of Jackie Chan is also the voice of the Cabbage Guy.
Neither is Jackie Chan

Uncle has Ultra Instinct. *The crocodile question is probably in reference to the crocodile hunter.
It could be, I didn’t think of that!
12:02 Duel Masters Retrospective in the future perhaps?
That could be fun sometime, I feel like I wouldn’t have much unique to provide on the series that creators like Jordan fringe haven’t covered, but I think it’d be fun to take an angle more learning the game and comparing it to the show! Also I have to ask what is your pfp from, it kinda reminds me of a beyblade or duel masters character and I know I’ll feel dumb when I find out
@@Colby2D Its Asura from Soul Eater!
@@valinsummers2565 yeah I feel dumb now, totally forgot about that arc moreso at the end of the anime, I need to go back and read the manga
Man I swear, when ever I remember Enforcers nephew’s sort being lil version of their uncles. Like did I gaslight myself to that.
That’s kinda how I remembered it too but I appreciate how distinct they are, especially for one offs
The villian from the first season making a cameo tho in the trenchcoat.😂
Ah, the memories. I remember collecting all the Talisman as a kid.

HUGE missed opportunity here!
Hey I did enjoy your Jackie Chan Avengers series that was really good and I enjoyed your other videos you did a awesome job give us facts about the show in the history of Jackie Chan too thank you very much for all that keep on a good working with your contents I hope you have a awesome day and one more thing I can't wait to watch your next video next week have a great day☺😎👍
Thanks I really appreciate it!!
You know, remember during season two that uncke's regular encantation worked just fine against scottish magic, how come then, was completely ineffective against japanese one?
Chinese and Japanese rivalry, they hate each other with a passion so why not have the magic reflect this?
only guess is that it is derivative of chinese as japan's history is an offshoot of chinese history as if I recall japan's population came from chinese immigrants WAAAAAY back in the past. so being derivative and due to historical wars they may have made their magic immune or resistant... though at the same time Shendu was using Shadow Khan so shadow khan may need specialized magic to beat each one and the chinese chi wizards at the time eventually found the formula to beat his shadow khan to defeat Shendu
I’m here for Lucy Liu shoutout! I also enjoy that Jade had her own version of Enforcers in the form of the nephews to the grown Enforcers, but find it a bit ridiculous that they all have nephews around the same age.
thank you so much!!! i always wanted to see a jackie chan adventure episode recap\lore. thank you.
My man, Strikemaster Ice.
Jackie looking hopeful at the sky makes the thumbnail even more sad
Jackie Chan Adventures had a lot of good stuff, characters lore, McGuffins power ups as well mythology galore. Thanks for looking into it! As a Chan Fan I did collect the Jackie Chan Mags along with the collectables. That said I'm looking forward to seeing your vids on the Jackie Chan Adventures media.
So sad it's over but I loved every video. Great work.
Something that bugged me about the finale is what a small role Jackie himself had in the resolution.
Also, no mention of Valmont Bus Driver?
For your follow up… THEY MADE ACTUAL TALISMAN PRODUCTS!? I wanted those things so much as a kid. I made my own out of cardboard to play with lol.
Finding the official ones may be a bit tougher, but I know for certain there’s a lot of sets of talismans on Etsy and eBay for not too much money
Also the talisman's getting sealed away at the final episode directly contradicts the episode with future Jade
It's been quite a nostalgia trip, and it was great to hear all your thoughts. Maybe an addendum video covering some of the one offs you skipped a few seasons back can be done one day. ^_^
Definitely possible, was thinking of making a video on other jca media like the game and stuff
I don’t remember watching this season as a kid, so this video was full of surprises!
Awesome video X3
Drago's voice was the voice for the Flash in JLA & its sequel series Unlimited
Good luck with Xaiolin Showdown Chronicles, those episodes are either gonna make you question if it’s a continuation of the old series or question if it’s an outright reboot with the amount of inconsistencies, and general weirdness.
Who say Jackie and Viper didn't in the future timeline
I’d like to think they did
Just need to interrupt here real quick - For years I've tried to figure out what to call that playground equipment, besides "Big spiderweb thing." You have just solved a lifelong mystery. "Climbing dome."
Ok, back to the vid. 😆
😂 I believe I looked up what the hell to call it multiple times
@@Colby2D 🤣 Time well spent
RIP Jackie Chan Adventures' evil magic systems.
I love seeing your editor jokes play out in your videos. Your tangent of Jade turning into a donkey amd starting the video off like that had me laughing.

James Sie also plays Monkey in Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, who of course was voiced on the Big Screen by Jackie Chan.
I love the thumbnail so much
Thank you!
Im actually surprised they never went for a agent Jade sequel considering the year. Probally for the best though.😅
fun fact, Pandas werent in the real San Diego Zoo during this time it was made up, but this year they did Add Pandas in the Zoo :) weird paradox
I hope that Jackie Chan Adventures gets rebooted someday😊
It would be cool, especially if the original cast was involved
I never had an Imaginary friend as me and my brothers were always so close, and always hung out, plus we had several friends, most were common friends, but a few were seperate. We did, at one point make an imaginary friend as a joke, like everytime someone asked if an empty chair was occupied, we'd joke that out Imaginary friend was sitting there.
I think I did a similar thing one day on the bus like pretended to have an imaginary friend just to annoy my friend and say he couldn’t sit there

They definitely recieved a ton of fan questions. Kids will be kids and ask random questions. Even if Jackie never flew a plane, you know he'd have an answer like "No, but I plan to some day. Flying a plane would have a strong feeling of freedom and sounds like fun, maybe I will even do a barrel roll!"
Honestly more silly questions like that are always much more funny and memorable. I do appreciate the questions sometimes lining up with the episode
@@Colby2D Same here. This honestly makes me wonder how in depth the question selection was.
Yeah I'm perfectly fine with pretending this season didn't exist
I went to the Winchester house once. I was disappointed . The house itself was not disappointing. I just thought it was going to be in a more secluded area.
WOW props to you for using pokemon tcg for GBC music.

Thank YOU
This show was something special
I was hoping you were going to mention Sheudu's siblings in the beginning into.
I figure they don’t really come up much this season, they do in the fusions, but even then I was hoping the legendary warriors would have been more involved too
@@Colby2D fair enough.
That's hilarious and adorable.
jackie chan adventure vs xiaolin showdown death battle
Outside, omi wins, indoors, Jackie wins
I had an imaginary friend call Kevin because I really like kevin 11 from Ben 10.
I love that
I feel like they did the best they could with the two-parter ending given how lackluster the rest of the season was.
Regarding the Drago chant, you can’t really translate Pinyin (romanized Chinese) least through programs as far as I’ve seen (to be fair Draco’s chant doesn’t sound like any form of Chinese I’ve heard)
On the future episode spoiling things from the way I watched the season it’s the final episode which shows us the future after all the big season finale stuff so it’s more of an epilogue episode
The future episode being after Drago would actually be really interesting, especially since they don’t acknowledge Drago at all, just Iso
