That’s really interesting I didn’t think of El Tiger as the first flash cartoon on nick, but that’s a really funny connection. Hi! Just some corrections! - Flamenco is a spanish tradition, not mexican. - Frijolito doesn't mean sweetie in spanish in any way or form. Mucha lucha was indeed HUGE in México to the point it recieve official pogs, named Tazos, which covered a great amount of characters even backgroud characters that appeared once in the series.
@@TheLetterJ0 probably since the diminituve cute nickname goes more for gordito o (fatty) or flaquito (skinny) but It's not sweetie directly. As you said is more for endearement use
Thank you I appreciate the feedback: I probably should have clarified that when I spoke about flamenco. I figured it would still be considered a part of Mexican culture, despite not originating there, I was also thinking lucha libre may have technically originated in Texas from some stuff I read, but that’s beside the point lol. I definitely would not say my sources for that translation of frijolito in slang were the most credible, was also thinking of the show Amarte Asi, Frijolito as the only other time I’ve heard the word. Another person mentioned the Mucha lucha tazos and I looked them up and love them
@@Colby2D Trust me that lucha libre is indeed a mexican tradition, also mucha lucha Tazos were awesome since there was not only plastic but also metalic ones making the colectibles much fun to get
You should absolutely do more about mucha lucha! I distinctly remember being hyped for the movie when it eventually came out, i think teletoon up here in canada did a series marathon leading up to their premier of the movie.
Dude, the number of episode quotes I rattled off as you went through all of these. I did not realize Mucha Lucha still has so much real estate in my head. Such a goofy but good show!
As a kid living in in Mexico at the time the cartoon was released I was obsessed with the show. When the tazos came out I really tried to collect them all but and I had a decent collection but left them back in Mexico 20 years ago, I kinda miss them. And I did also try to become a bulldozer when play wrestling
That’s so cool to hear. I’m thinking of ordering some tazos online and might try to show them off in the next mucha lucha video, so you’d kinda be able to see them again
@@Colby2Dit was really good! I enjoyed every minute of it I’m so ready for the second part already and I know this just came out. Already subscribed and liked this morning!
Honestly I’d really love to see you do the rest of the seasons and the movie. The show rarely gets talked about, and I think the best part about the later seasons is them focusing on the side characters a bit more. Even getting somewhat dedicated episodes
Was definitely one of the most unique shows on the network, I really vibes with the style of humor even though that level of energy and humor isn’t always my thing, they’re all so genuine here
I never really watched it growing up, I know it was airing but hardly ever saw ads for it and must have been out or watching something else most times when it was airing. I know it’s huge in Japan though
I loved watching Mucha Lucha as a kid, I watched the show with my dad since he's a huge wrestling fan. He taught me alI about lucha libre and would take me to live shows, we still watch it together on tv or go to shows when he visits.
Mucha Lucha was one of my favorite shows growing up, and now as an adult that can appreciate animations. I cant help but love how this was made on Flash animation yet this show came out swinging and hitting hard. Like Flash didn't have the best track record of making animations when some people used it as a short cut to animate there shows, but Mucha Lucha made it work so well for them.
The Flea was my all time favorite character and now it makes sense, I had no idea the voice actress also played Dexter who again was one of my all time favorite shows.
The second this show aired in Mexico, back when I was a kid, I saw many ads for it and how big the advertising was for them selling even pogs in bag of chips, yeh those were still a thing back then. They were in bag of popular chip brands, basically our way of getting kids to getting snacks and free toys. I always saw my time and made sure to do my homework before I can catch it on tv, sadly some days I couldn’t and so I missed some episodes (no reruns or cable on my end😔). But yeh to this day I can’t stop remembering the opening to the various characters and how I just felt in love with the show itself and appreciated how it was really connected to my childhood and culture. It just spoke to me as someone who’s Mexican and enjoy me some silly cartoons and happen to have a bit of my childhood in them.
This is one of those shows I know I watched as a kid but I remember nothing about it. I knew the main 3 designs and that's it untill finding this video again
I feel that, I think it’s because the overarching plots aren’t really the focus as much as the humor, so a lot of people remember a bunch of random jokes or scenes instead
Mucha Lucha was the GOAT for me growing up! I'll always prefer the style of the first season over 2 and 3, and I'll still forever be salty that Rikochet was recasted once the 2nd season ended...though I do find the joke they made in 3's first episode very humorous all's considered. I still have almost all my childhood stuff from it like the Mix-A-Lots and a Signature Move Megawatt as well as a throw blanket. I used to have the fishing pole, but idk what happened to it. Apparently it was also recalled at some point... This and Nacho Libre were the only times I saw the actual wrestling, but shows like El Tigre made me fall in love with the mask designs more than the actual wrestling. All these had me asking for a Lucha Libre mask growing up, and I did manage to get one! Also I always admired Rey Mysterio, but as much as I wanted figures of him, I never got any. Also also this show is what caused my dad to start called me El Rey lol!
@@Colby2D yes, and the reveal at the end of the Cindy Slam episode means they have gone to the Gerbil Jorge amusement park without her multiple times. That's so mean!
True, though I was thinking that may have been a made up story by buena girl, assuming that episode was part of buena girls plan to go to the park that episode
21:08 I do like that there's a small shot of Ricochet's face. I remember every time watching this episode on kids WB, I always wanted to pause the screen or even lean forward close to my t.v, just to see how Ricochet look like without his mask.
It took me a good 2-4 episodes to accept that he was a flea and not a rabbit. Mostly, it was his personality and hygiene that eventually won that internal debate.

This is one of those shows that I always visually remember but could never remember the name of. Like I remembered the friends a lot more than the main character and stuff, but could never remember any of the important names haha
I feel that, it’s a really fun squad
How did you know I woke up wanting a Mucha Lucha video today? Continuous primo content!
Thank you haha, I figured it’s Saturday morning, this is when it should be on!
I have very distinct memories of Snowpea actually being an absolute menance. I loved this show growing up, great video!
This video is so good I had to rewatch it 3 times to maximize my happiness in life
Colby and/or his source might have gotten mixed up with the -ito suffix generically being used in terms of endearment.
Another person mentioned the Mucha lucha tazos and I looked them up and love them
@@Colby2D Trust me that lucha libre is indeed a mexican tradition, also mucha lucha Tazos were awesome since there was not only plastic but also metalic ones making the colectibles much fun to get
This show was awesome back in the day. Thanks for covering it 🙏😄
You should absolutely do more about mucha lucha!
I distinctly remember being hyped for the movie when it eventually came out, i think teletoon up here in canada did a series marathon leading up to their premier of the movie.
That’s really cool, the movie was really good so I definitely want to make a follow up sometime
Maybe I missed it but the way it was animated it will always look good in any resolutions because of how vectors work
That’s a good point! These episodes were definitely much higher quality than anything else from this time period lol
Dude, the number of episode quotes I rattled off as you went through all of these. I did not realize Mucha Lucha still has so much real estate in my head. Such a goofy but good show!
Yeah the intro quotes stuck with me so much for no reason, like “the only thing to fear is fear itself…and bullies”
I liked this show! My strongest memory of it is Rick O'Shea and his whole gag. "That's me lucky charms, they're tragically malicious!"
Funny stuff
Lol that’s good, I think mine is just whenever buena girl says something isn’t right
Man giving me what I wanted without me realizing it. This is so awesome! Just started up the video and super excited to watch!
I really appreciate it, thanks! This is probably some of the most research and work I’ve done for a video, so I hope you enjoy😄
@@Colby2Dit was really good! I enjoyed every minute of it I’m so ready for the second part already and I know this just came out. Already subscribed and liked this morning!
@@shadowhaze23 thanks so much
I loved this show as a kid and teenager. Never failed to amuse me.
And that theme song! Still a banger.
Theme song is definitely a banger, I gotta make a top theme song list lol
leave it to Colby2D to highlight a show from the early 2000s that i have never heard of! great video!
Thanks for checking it out! Yeah this is definitely one of the bigger ones from the early 2000s kids wb / Cartoon Network era
Im hyped for part 2, great video!!
Thanks, I really appreciate it!
'WB *loved* the masked toilet'
😂
Of all things, lol
Colby2D should do the whole series, then follow it up with Ultimate Muscle the full series!
Man this show was so fun to watch as a kid!
I totally forgot all about this show! Memories unlocked 🔓
Haha that’s definitely one of the things I like to hear the most😄
Honestly I’d really love to see you do the rest of the seasons and the movie. The show rarely gets talked about, and I think the best part about the later seasons is them focusing on the side characters a bit more. Even getting somewhat dedicated episodes
Definitely plan on a follow up sometime! Thanks for watching
This show is such an underrated classic it was definitely one of my favorites on kids WB along with the Batman. So many good memories watching it
Was definitely one of the most unique shows on the network, I really vibes with the style of humor even though that level of energy and humor isn’t always my thing, they’re all so genuine here
I love this show, especially when they get to the Underground Arc, and Ricochet becomes Prince Puma and stops talking for some reason.
I don’t remember this arc but will keep in mind while rewatching!
More please! I loved this show so much growing up
Thank you, will definitely try to make more in the future, I’ve been making a list of questions to ask the creator for a part 2
As a Mexican kid in the early 00's this was one of my favorite's 💪
If only you can find this show. This needs to be on streaming or physical. I loved this show as a kid because I'm Mexican American
Yeah I think only 6 episodes and the movie are on DVD, I’m planning to interview the creator, I’ll ask him if he knows anything of that possibility.
@@Colby2D cool
This was my Kinnikuman
I never really watched it growing up, I know it was airing but hardly ever saw ads for it and must have been out or watching something else most times when it was airing. I know it’s huge in Japan though
Also the Latin dub the VA of Rikochet and Buena Girl are marry in real life cool right ?
Yes very cool, I originally had it in my script, but it didn’t make it to the final video, so I’ll have to include it in part 2
Thanks for reminding me of this show. Glad your channel got recommended.
Thanks for watching!
So underrated! I can't wait for the board game that's being made in collaboration
Me too:)
Omg i loved this show back in the day.. plus it gave Hispanic reputation which made me happy.
Definitely do a season 2 recap.
17:42 this was always my favorite joke in the show 😂 I remember spitting soda out of laughter when I first saw this as a kid 🤣 Man I miss this show!
25:02 the thing I really remember is the part where flea puts mask on Rex and saying “it fits like a glove”
The Flea was my all time favorite character and now it makes sense, I had no idea the voice actress also played Dexter who again was one of my all time favorite shows.
Dexters Lab is easily in my top 5 😄
MORE MUCHA LUCHA VIDEOS! Loved this show as a kid and the representation it gave me as a Latino kid! Gave you a sub loved the video great work🔥🔥
Thanks very much, definitely have a follow up planned sometime
Loved this show a lot back in the day
Me too!
In mexico this show was peak it reached an insane popularity and everyone I knew liked the show. It even got Tazos
I love the tazos, I’ve heard a couple people mention them and the chips they came with
I'd love to see more of this series
I remember how upset I was that Betty Blutonium was picked over the Luchadore I made😔
I just realized that Buena Girl kind of has bad parents. They're so perfect that they're oblivious to their daughter's struggles and that's hillarious
Absolutely, like they’re creepy and it makes me feel bad for burns girl when she really worries over somewhat smaller stuff
21:08
I do like that there's a small shot of Ricochet's face. I remember every time watching this episode on kids WB, I always wanted to pause the screen or even lean forward close to my t.v, just to see how Ricochet look like without his mask.
I remember doing the same on my Dish Tv DVR, it took a lot of tries to get it right lol
Little me was so convinced the Flea was a rabbit despite him constantly shouting he's a flea and having flea based powers. Nope, that's a rabbit.
I will never be able to unsee this
I always knew he was a flea. He was hella filthy in every way.
LOL. xD That’s great.
It took me a good 2-4 episodes to accept that he was a flea and not a rabbit. Mostly, it was his personality and hygiene that eventually won that internal debate.
The Flea's spleen lives in my head rent free
This and the fairly oddparents had so many “my spleen” jokes lol
It's been a running joke in my household for almost 20 years
Mucha Lucha was a funny cartoon, glad to see more people talking about
It was, thanks for watching!
@0:27 It's like My Hero Academia.... BUT BETTER.
