  • Troubleshoot a slow filling washing machine. Step by step instruction shows how to fix common slow fill problems.
    Often a washer machine that fills slowly is due to clogged screens on the water inlet valve or screens installed on the washing machine fill hoses. One common symptom of a clogged filter is the rinse cycle will fill slowly. Cold water is used to the rinse cycle, so often that screen is clogged up or the solenoid on the water inlet valve fails.

      They don't make appliances to last as long these do. You might want to check out to see if it is agitating correctly. There are dog agits, little plastic parts that have teeth that wear down. When I bought mine on eBay, they were under $5. I also have the companion dryer and some repair videos for it. Here's the link to the video to replace the dog agits - cheap & easy. Have a great day.

    Thanks for this guide. I'm going to use this to check my washing machine. It fills about 1/4 the speed on cold as it does on warm or hot, so I'm fairly certain there's an issue somewhere in the cold water supply or cold inlet solenoid.
    While my apartment maintenance won't come out because "there's a pandemic and the machine isn't fully broken", I can at least narrow it down to what needs fixing and, if it's something they're responsible for, have them at least put a replacement part (and written permission to proceed with the repair on my own since they can't send someone out) in my mailbox.

    • @d3xbot
      @d3xbot 3 года назад +1

      Update: it’s not a problem with the water lines or the screens. It’s some thing either electrical or mechanical with the valve on the washing machine. I’ve put in a maintenance ticket and they said they’re going to come out and get that replaced sometime during the week!

    • @Know-How-Now
      @Know-How-Now  3 года назад +3

      Thanks for the update, Matt. It's probably the solenoid/valve. I think that some businesses are using the pandemic as an excuse, though I suppose some tenants may not be wearing masks and putting the maintenance people at risk. 2021's has got to be better than 2020. lol, I think most of us will be glad to forget this past year.

    I have the Amana top load washer. Was having problems with it filling and draining without washing. After a little troubleshooting I think I found the issue. Take off the hose from the washer cold/hot water inlet to the washing machine. Try to clean all the debris from the filter. Put it back together and run a wash. Mine was filling for 10 minutes. Now it's actually washing. Hope this helps you..

    Clean both of the screens in each inlet inside the washer hose inlet. There are two screens for each cold and hot on the washer.. One is inside the machine inlet that you can't see, and one outside the machine that you can barely see, it has a tab you pull out. Use a flashlight and look inside the inlet tube or nipple that's threaded, after you take the first screen off you'll see it.. My inside screen was clogged bad. Both hoses were good I saved, didn't need new hoses... All fixed.

      Know How Now, you could be right of course. However I must add that I'm generous because I say things I think are obviously tongue in cheek and get blistered by those who don't get it! I was bullied off of a game site called Neopets by adult players who thought my comment about my roof leaking in my "mansion" was serious. The leak was (rotted wood threshold from a sunroom roof into house btw) serious.. mansion? Ha! Nope!
      I grew up in Cambridge mass with Texas parents. Now you figure That accent! Anyway I think it's funny how we don't Really know how we sound until we hear ourselves when we didn't know we were being recorded.
      As to clogged screens. They have well water & when I stayed with them recently their kitchen faucet was pouring out.. worse than the washer (aka washing machine lol another cultural variation) I was uh oh looking at Moen single stem thingies but turned out a simple twist remove and so FULL OF RUST from the well it was essentially useless. Easy fix with toothbrush and I use a "crab or lobster" pick as a constant tool. Sometimes the pointed end of flossers for teeth. Now, at my mansion on Martha's Vineyard my plumber had to remove the first 2 screens because the pump pulls up too much sand! Live & learn. Xo

    I have no problem with the cold water. In fact I get mostly or all cold water only when I choose the warm water on the dial. Problem is when I want only hot water it comes out as a trickle and takes a insane long time to even fill up to a small load. Cold water no problem, warm water mostly cold but hot Geez a loo it is barely trickling out. And sometimes when I don't put it on hot water the whole damn thing makes a loud humming noise.

      If you've checked for clogs and you know it's not a water supply problem, then as stated, the trouble is likely the water inlet valve. I have an additional video on replacing the valve. ruclips.net/video/wZCAun0eb5M/видео.html

    Would have been better if you show us how to replace the water inlet valve

      The title says troubleshoot... Imagine how many people would be complaining that the content does not match the title. If you watch the entire video, there is a clickable link to my video that shows how to replace the valve part way through this video and at the end.

    Set playback speed to 1.75x. Then it's hella helpful.

      Then waste time saved by writing a not so nice comment to the person who is trying to help you for free.

      Know How Now - Just seeing this. You’re right, it was very rude and senseless of me. Your video has helped me keep my old washer going and I’m super grateful. I hope you’ll accept my apology.

      tiredowalkin - You’re right. The video really helped me out (seems it has helped many people) It was an incredibly thoughtless comment.

    My washer starts spraying water good then slows down

      You'll need to go through the steps shown in the video. If you can eliminate the water supply, then it's likely the water inlet valve is the problem. I have a video that shows how to replace the inlet valve. ruclips.net/video/wZCAun0eb5M/видео.html

      Sorry I am not a fast talker, Carl. I did take the time to post the video to help you for free and in return you make a personal attack about how I talk. You didn't have a problem spending time criticizing me after I tried to help you.
