Awesome video and explanation. Turned out my air pressure valve hose was clogged near the bottom of the drum causing the fill cycle to not stop. Once I blew in that hose and didn’t get any airflow I had the culprit. Saved me a lot of time and money. Thanks!
You made my day, and I'm glad you diagnosed the problem. Feels good to save a couple hundred dollars around Xmas. Bragging rights to partner and friends too!
Thanks Doug, walked out to my garage floor soaked. Popped off the panel and saw my air pressure hose had slipped off. Everything running as normal again
@@DougBrownVancouver I had changed the couplers and didn't realize I had crimped that clear pressure tube. So the water kept filling and wouldn't stop. I took the opportunity to go ahead and change out the water fill valves since the cold water came out super slow & I'd been too lazy to install the part when I got it lol.
Thank you so much. This was the best explanation on the internet. I have checked all the switchs, valves and level sensor. All they are is ok but it still keep filling even i blow the sensor and hear the click noise while machine is running. Then should i check the motherboard? What is your thoughts?
@@DougBrownVancouveryep same problem here? Continuity check out good on the switch one Wire normally open one while normally closed if I blow in the tube, the water shuts off, but when connected to the tub, it will overflow.
Hi, late reply. I think it's the water pressure valve. Sounds like the cold side valve works fine and the hot valve does not. I'm sure you've fixed this by now, but if you have a multimeter you could have done the test I showed. What did you do in the end?
I say thank you Doug for bringing this video on with your great instructions with great information on doing washer repair🧰for this type of problem of water overflow which can help many people with similar problem on their washing machines I appreciate from Denny
Hi, not at all. The pressure is entirely from the water level, so the only impact from clothes is that the tub fills more quickly and the pressure switch also turns off more quickly.
I have this same machine . And everything you explained on this video I checked and mine seems good . It likes to flood once a month so I guess it's intermittent . What would you do about that just replace shut off valve
Hi, it would appear to be a failing valve. Just Google the specific machine model off the sticker with "water level switch replacement part" and a couple of sites will pop up. Here's one from Canada:www.partselect.ca/PS3408119-Whirlpool-W10337781-Water-Level-Switch.htm It's super easy to replace the switch and I think you can see it from my video.
On the off chance anyone will read this, know the answer and respond…here goes: my Kenmore elite washer (1999 direct drive) is working fine save for one HUGE issue. At the tail end of every wash cycle, when the time gets to the last number of minutes (I.e. right before drain and rinse cycle), the washer suddenly starts filling with water, and overflows unfortunately (sheetrock, baseboard repairs, damaged cabinetry…what a disaster). I do not want to give up this beloved machine and know there MUST be a fix for this somewhere. Tubing and pressure switch are fine. Machine fills to proper levels at exact same place every load. It is ONLY overfilling at this same point every cycle. We have been unable to find an answer on internet yet. SOS! Help? Ideas? Advice? Many thanks!
The same thing was happing with my LG washer. I replaced the water inlet manifold and it still kept doing it. I finally replaced the air pressure switch and have not had a problem since. I inspected the old switch and when I shook it, it would have an internal rattle that new switch did not make. I bought it off of Amazon for $20. Can't go wrong with that price.
Are you a biker from West Van or West Virginia etc? If you're in Vancouver you can go online to www.Reliableparts.com and put in your model # etc. If you're in the US or somewhere, google something "washer parts model ABC-123" and you'll see a bunch parts websites including Amazon. Amazon has the market locked up, but there are still lots of independent sites that you can support. I've used both www.partselect.com or www.repairclinic.com and they have great parts diagrams and DIY videos.
West Virginia. Was a Kenmore, ordered the inlet valve from Sears Parts Direct. 61 bucks. Helped move a whirlpool washer, things in the cabinet look indentical.
My husband fixed my spare washing machine today. It was the tube. It overflowed, I only use it for washing dog bedding and rugs. It was a concrete floor, didn't do any damage. Your video really helped him fix it fast without beating on his head in frustration. Again, thank you.

I've watched several overflow videos and yours is the most thorough. Thanks for covering all the parts! 👍
Excellent and I appreciate the compliment!
Agreed!

Glad it worked out!
Thank you for taking the time to do a thorough and concise video. You really helped me out.
What was the problem in the end? Glad to help out.
I love my old Whirlpool and decided to DIY fix it myself whenever possible. Thanks for the very informative video!
Glad it worked. What was the problem?

Hmmm, did you diagnose the problem eventually? I'm guessing the air sensor was faulty, and didn't transmit a signal to the valve.

Great Video . My old whirlpool washer overfills only with water cold water, but it is not an issue with hot water ?

if I mistakenly reverse the wires for a solenoid will it still work? thanks!

Thanks for this video. One question…. Could any of these indicators also cause the water to stop filling? I seem to have both issues going on
If it's not filling then it's likely the "lid switch" and I have a video on that. There are lots of others too.
Thank you so much!!!
Excellent video. Thank you
Does there have to be clothes in the washer for the pressure switch to work correctly?
Hi, not at all. The pressure is entirely from the water level, so the only impact from clothes is that the tub fills more quickly and the pressure switch also turns off more quickly.

My washer on washing cycle is ok..its on the rinse cycle..it doesn't fill with enough water. What can I do.
Where the hose goes at the bottom u didn't show how to remove that there is blockage in there what can I do?
The hose is just plugged in loosely so pull it off and clean it, then reinstall. Should be easy.
Super super super lovely
Now I know there’s contaminant buildup in the compartment connecting to my air tube but I don’t know how to clean it out
No problem ,the hose disconnects easily and just blow it our or run some wire through it.
Thank you.
Thanks
