Brazilians never loved Messi when he arrived on the scene obviously because his Argentine but when you saw how much Ronaldinho loved him and nurtured him and then Messi and Neymar are like older and younger brothers and Messi nurtured Neymar at Barcelona, I’ve never seen so many Brazilians wanting Argentina to win the World Cup and that is because Messi is unmistakably brilliant of course but he’s just a really chilled gentle human being. He’s humble, he’s thoughtful and never let his ego get in the way of his genius. That is someone who has transcended a sport that your most fiercest rivals have warmth for you.❤

As an Argentinian I used to hate Brazil. Not the country, but their national team. Thanks to Messi’s relationship with Ronaldinho and subsequently with Neymar, they taught me that it’s ok to be rivals, but there’s no need to be enemies. Brazil has had the most amazing footballers, even tho Maradona, Di Stefano, Messi are from Argentina, there’s no denying Brazilian football has been the dominant football historically and that’s ok. Messi, being humble, has taught many of us that it’s ok to have respect for your biggest rival. It’s a sport, we are passionate about it, but it’s a sport.

La Liga defenders used to *try* to kick him so hard, it would be a strong risk of a red card offence, but usually they would be unsuccessful at even doing that.
This is why it always used to make me laugh that Maradona debate about how tough it used to be in the 80s- sure it was tougher in the 80s, but you really think that would stop Messi? LOL. They have to catch him to even kick him first, and when they do he has never lost his temper once that I can remember. He has the best/coolest mentality of any footballer on the planet, even though he's been the most targeted. It would be the same in the 80s- there would be more challenges, but his personality clearly shows he'd be the last footballer in any environment to be affected.

The biggest difference you see with 95% of players is that with age and experience their playstyle changes a lot depending on the team and league etc but Leo when he was 14-15 in those clips and now at 35 play almost identical and people still can’t stop him. Ofc he is slower now so can’t outrun defenders like the old days but he’s able to use his deadly passing to help others more. This is the definition of just unreal god given pure talent where he hasn’t really adapted his game at all, it’s the exact same and just altered it now due to physical limitations. That’s my GOAT 🐐

    • @juneabbott6805

He’s adapted his play - another facet of his brilliance. He’s more measured now. And his natural humility allows him to bring his play-making skills to the forefront. Messi works for his team so he’s happy to help create goals, he doesn’t have to score them. For me, this is one of things that make him exceptional. He elevates his team mates. Despite his brilliance Messi doesn’t allow his ego to get in the way of the game.

As Madrid fan, I acknowledge how good Messi is since 2007 or 2007 (when Barca won UCL), when Messi still under the shadow of Ronaldinho (Ballon d'Or winner that time).
But I saw that young man was keep brightening season by season, until Ronaldinho said his famous statement "This kid will be the greatest player in the world"
And by mean "the greatest", I'd never thought Messi will achieved this far and became the greatest of all time
What a remarkable experience living during Messi's era

I live in Barcelona and happy to say I went to see him play a few times and pretty much saw most matches during that period because I worked in a sports bar. Phenomenal talent. To be at that level of quality, way above everyone in a team of excellent players and week in week out do the business on the pitch. Amazing.

Messi and Ronaldo are great. What separates them is Messi can do things Ronaldo can't. He is a complete football player where as cr7 is a complete goalscorer. Big difference but both incredible players.

At this point, anyone denying Ronaldo of his greatness is delusional. I’m a huge Messi fan and NOT so much of a Ronaldo fan lol. But … he has earned my respect, despite how much I troll him on the surface 🤣
The guy was a monster and he with Messi, gave us (arguably) the most EPIC era in football.
It’s a damn shame that they’ve aged. I don’t think I’ll want to watch football once they retire…

That's what witnessing true genius for the first time does to you.
A bit like the amazement, on the faces of the top music rock stars of the 1960s. When they first saw Jimi Hendrix play the guitar live.

It's funny how some people keep taunting Messi to leave his comfort zone to prove his greatness but not realising that he already had. He left his homeland at a tender age of thirteen and start a new life in Spain almost 11,000 km away and conquer all that's there for him to.
Messi is the Greatest Of All Time🐐. May God continue to bless him. 👌🏾👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾

      Logically man
Barca is one of the strongest team ever. If not now due to their current situatuon. At least in most of messi time they were. They were easily top 5 if not top 3. So to say that being a starter for a very long time in one of top 5 teams is a comfort zone is insane. But thats cr7 fans. They are slaves not fans. They will twist logic and reality to validate their goat. To please their master
Messi doesnt even need record to be better. The eye test alone shows who is the better player

I can't record global legends like, Ronaldo R9, ronaldinho, Zidane, figo, rivaldo, Raul, maradona testing themselves in the epl. What I have seen is, top prem players are prepared to take a pay cut to join real Madrid or Barcelona to achieve greatness!!I'm an arsenal fan...I've seen all our top players leave for Barcelona!petit, overmars, fabregras,Henry!
