Knowing Ron Washington this is definitely a routine ball because he funneled. Ron teaches to push and work thru the ball. Great video.

Played ball into my 40s & always caught in web. Thought catching above fingers was something new but after this break down & explanation I get it👍

Polar Bear Running Speed : 25 mph
Grizzly Bear Running Speed : 35 mph
Human Running Speed : 10-15 mph (average)
    Usain Bolt hit 27.8 between meters 60 & 80 (~10 seconds)
One crazy polar bear fact? They can swim for up to a week! Wow ...

Great video. Would love some tips for young kids playing first on technique where it differs from here, and judging when to be aggressive moving to their right vs staying to cover the bag. Thanks!

Matt can you make a video about when a lot of young guys swing they tend to raise their upper body after they’ve made contact with the ball instead of staying in down and thru the ball in their contact point

Notice you can see the top of his cap when fielding. He watched the ball all the way to the glove with hands in front of him. Ramon Santiago talked alot about the same principles you did. I was at (baseball camp in Lakeland) and went through infield clinic with Ramon and Brandon Inge. They were amazing! Can you go through infield pop ups? They were always tough for me , most of the time I could keep them in front of me ..but those embarrassing spinners that move back behind you are tough. Do you have any tips? I'm sure you do.

Talk about the ground crew that makes the field nice and smooth so that you don’t get the bounces you get on city parks.

When it comes to baseball, Nature Lover Matt is smarter than your average bear! He got that from Cowboy Matt.
On a real note, this video is so important. Butt down, flat back, shuffle shuffle left. Great way to remember it.

Hey Matt. Is it all opposite for a lefty playing first base or any position on the left side of the field?

I always had the problem with the ball is moving so fast I could not keep my eyes on the ball...it was just a blur.

Can you do a fielding video on Trea Turner? I think he's underrated as a defensive player and deserves some recognition.

No weird hops on a perfectly groomed major league field really helps.

Ok so this is a question, if you are an amateur player, how do you take into account how fast of a runner is if you've never seen them before in your life?

    • @AntonelliBaseball

Aaron Davis based on body type and order in the lineup. It’s not always perfect, but should be close enough. There will be times you make mistakes

Nothing more annoying to a pitcher then when their infielder waits back on a ball and doesn’t replace the feet and continue momentum toward first to throw it, so the infielder turns a routine easy ground ball into a base hit because he’s to late getting it to first, I’ve seen this all season up through 16u.
