Getting to the right side of the ball is brilliant and something I never thought about. Reminds me of an outfielder playing the ball to one side or the other to get a better read. I was a pitcher and that's all reaction. Will definitely incorporate this into my daughter's infield work. Thank you.
Great vid as always...I will say I chuckled when you said Coach will fungo on the 2nd hop as I thought, easier to do on turf not so much on grass and dirt.
It’s working around the ball so that you get a better angle for the hops and you will also gain some momentum too towards first base, so you’re feet aren’t just staying still.
@@RobKandell pretty much play in in the center. You want as little distance between the ball and the ss as possible; don't create a backhand situation for yourself. At 2nd, can try to move (on an easy bounce) just a little left of ball to assist your throwing hand, but just a little. Have fun!
Be ONE WITH DA HOPS...LOL Edit:what to do if the coach dont hit the ball into ground for "hops" and hits "dingers" that I call skimmers where kids CANT see to read anything but only hope to get leather on ball and knock it down!

I'm a little late on this but is this the same for lefty's? Or would they go to the left side to keep their glove in the middle?
My son plays third base and he gets a lot of hard it balls that are bouncing what drills should I do to help him to field those ball cleanly

Do you always get to the right, or to the glove side?
Pretty much always try to get to the right of the ball. Unless you are throwing to the right. Thanks for watching!

Gotcha, so a 1B or 2B would go to the left if turning a double play?

So try to get to left of ball if you are a left 1B?
Only if you are throwing to 2B or 3B. Thanks so much for watching!!!
