    Is there new fuel in tank? New fuel filter and air filter? This engine has a belt or a chain? If it has belt, you should change it as well. Also change the sparks, cooling fluid, brake fluid if you want drive this golf.
    3:40 when you take off this plastic shield, you can clean it and protect it outside of the car - it is much easier to do than mount shield again and doing work on car.

    HI EJO, you have done a good job again with regard to that engine compartment and the rest that goes with it.
    I saw that you did not cover certain electrical components with a plastic cover or something like that and I did not think that it will start soon, but yes the old person started peoh hey !! I have often had that I had to dry things up here before I wanted to start my car again.
    Well on to the next video where there will undoubtedly be a lot of cleaning, ha ha ha

    Love the work you put into an old golf, but I'm wondering, isn't it dangerous to spray water on all the loose electrical connections? Even though you disconnect the battery

    • @ejoautovideos
      @ejoautovideos  4 года назад +3

      Thank you. 😊
      This is not something you want to do often, as there is always a small risk something might happen.
      But I pretty much eliminate all risks because I:
      1. Disconnect the battery.
      2. Avoid spraying directly on the ECU.
      3. Spray electric spray in all connectors to drive out any water as well as protect the connectors from future oxidation. Also, the connectors has rubber seals that prevents water from getting in, so this step is an extra precaution IF a seal is leaking in a connector.

    I don't understand people who leaves cars like this to rust outside for years or gives them to the scrapyard. One day they will dissapear. Especialy when this model is discontinued long time ago and Wolkswagen will stop produce golfs at all. Because they will focus on electric cars .. I hope i will have mk2 one in future, it's my favorite. Good job sir.

      I'd say yes, the older the safer. New cars have tons of electronics that might not like being watered down. Not the same with this golf. But like EJO did, remove battery and idk, maybe cover up the generator? Personally, I don't do either of the two 😁 But better safe than sorry lol

    • @GlamStacheessnostalgialounge
      @GlamStacheessnostalgialounge 4 года назад

      It absolutely is NOT a good idea. I did it to my car and it ran fine, but a few months later I had tons of electrical issues one after the other, battery terminal failing due to corrosion, starter motor didn't work due to the ground being corroded, alternator not charging due to the ground being corroded, etc. Etc. Unless you cover every single electrical component I say you're better off just hand washing everything.

      You should NEVER use pressure washer on the engine, the water will force it's way into electrical connections and will sit there for days, causing corrosion.. Also generator should never get soaking wet, it can get just a lil bit wet, also you have to be careful with the pressure washer to not get it where the oil stick is and where the oil cap is, the water can get in the engine. Good video but still many things to improve on

      Detta medel är som ett sorts balsam för plast och gummi som skyddar och gör att det återfår den svarta, djupa färgen. Visst det kanske drar åt sig lite, lite mer smuts och damm. Men den är oerhört lätt att få bort, då denna verkligen inte är flottig. 👍

    Does the car start straight up afterwards, or do you wait a few days to make sure it's 100% dry.

      Should be fine to start straight away. Although I have never agreed with this method. Although all connections are sealed I don't think this is the way to do it. I just clean each part with rags. Yes it's much slower progress but I feel safer not putting water everywhere

    Jag märkte i slutet att jag hade kollat hela videon i 480p. Måste säga att bildkvalitén är grym med tanke på att jag inte ens märkte att jag såg på videon i 480p. Var tvungen att kolla om den i 1080p lol. Ska bli kul att följa den här bilens resa!

    Faaan vad jag suktar efter en MK2! Men kan inte mycket om motorer, borde nog bara bita ihop med nostalgin. Det är svårt!

      Mk2 Golf engines are pretty bulletproof. The Carburettor versions are also very simple if you wanted to learn :)

    Hur kommer det sig att ni rekondare sällan eller aldrig använder hetvattentvätt?

    • @ejoautovideos
      @ejoautovideos  4 года назад

      Har funderat på att testa det, måste ba fixa en koppling till det först. Kranen som används till högtrycken nu (som har bättre flöde för i övrigt) har endast kallvatten.

      @@ejoautovideos Jag tänkte på en sånhär. www.sgatrading.se/store/p/k%C3%A4rcher-291263/k%C3%A4rcher-hds-5-11-u-808490 typ. Kräver inget varmvatten men jag kan se andra svagheter dock när det gäller inomhusbruk.
