iv seen this video like 20 times and the other ones too, my car is on repair and i spend my time here learning all about it in here, thank you for this videos and keep them coming! From Lisbon, Portugal!
been watching some videos of you lately and it inspires me to get started working on my Golf mk2 . It could use some polish and all the cleaning you did , love your work man! keep it up !
I really like the method you use "building" up your videos. It may have even more details in it that the detailing itself. Lovely work on the car and on the video.
Grymt jobbat! Den här kanalen bara växer och växer i mina ögon. Alltid lika roligt att få notis om ny video 😁👍. Ska bli riktigt roligt att få följa golfens resa.
a tip when cleaning the "black plastic" that is often seen in the bumpers and so, is to use normal olive oil it works great and im doing it all the time when cleaning my car
Time my friend, time. It would have been nice, but I have a lot of projects right now and very limited time. So I just sanded it down real quick, wiped it with paint prep and brushed on some new high temp paint. But yeah, it would be fun to try a "perfect restoration" type of video sometime. 😊
Is there new fuel in tank? New fuel filter and air filter? This engine has a belt or a chain? If it has belt, you should change it as well. Also change the sparks, cooling fluid, brake fluid if you want drive this golf. 3:40 when you take off this plastic shield, you can clean it and protect it outside of the car - it is much easier to do than mount shield again and doing work on car.
Great work. It'd be nice to see you work on this mechanically as well. Like the breaks and lines and suspension before you pass it on. Cheers from Pakistan 🇵🇰
HI EJO, you have done a good job again with regard to that engine compartment and the rest that goes with it. I saw that you did not cover certain electrical components with a plastic cover or something like that and I did not think that it will start soon, but yes the old person started peoh hey !! I have often had that I had to dry things up here before I wanted to start my car again. Well on to the next video where there will undoubtedly be a lot of cleaning, ha ha ha Grt.
Love the work you put into an old golf, but I'm wondering, isn't it dangerous to spray water on all the loose electrical connections? Even though you disconnect the battery
Thank you. 😊 This is not something you want to do often, as there is always a small risk something might happen. But I pretty much eliminate all risks because I: 1. Disconnect the battery. 2. Avoid spraying directly on the ECU. 3. Spray electric spray in all connectors to drive out any water as well as protect the connectors from future oxidation. Also, the connectors has rubber seals that prevents water from getting in, so this step is an extra precaution IF a seal is leaking in a connector.
I don't understand people who leaves cars like this to rust outside for years or gives them to the scrapyard. One day they will dissapear. Especialy when this model is discontinued long time ago and Wolkswagen will stop produce golfs at all. Because they will focus on electric cars .. I hope i will have mk2 one in future, it's my favorite. Good job sir.
Nice work. You could have removed some parts to do an even better job, but hey, where to draw a line ? You could have removed the engine as well :) Nice result for sure, well done!
I own a golf mk2 1.8 gl as well since a few months. Thanks for the video's I am gonna do the same! If you can do it I will do it! Look forward too the next golf videos!
Looks Amazing! Is it safe to use a pressure washer on old cars like this? Have a MK2 myself and want to do the same job. Im just scared to use a pressure washer 😁
I'd say yes, the older the safer. New cars have tons of electronics that might not like being watered down. Not the same with this golf. But like EJO did, remove battery and idk, maybe cover up the generator? Personally, I don't do either of the two 😁 But better safe than sorry lol
I’d suggest you cover the alternator, HT leads & dizzy cap, ignition coil with plastic wrapping. Not sure why he only removed the battery instead of also securing the above electrical parts.
It absolutely is NOT a good idea. I did it to my car and it ran fine, but a few months later I had tons of electrical issues one after the other, battery terminal failing due to corrosion, starter motor didn't work due to the ground being corroded, alternator not charging due to the ground being corroded, etc. Etc. Unless you cover every single electrical component I say you're better off just hand washing everything.
Jeg tør rett og slett ikke bruke vann i motoren min pga jeg er redd for å få mye møkk på reimer og reimhjul. Har du det i bakhodet når du tar en motorvask og titter over alt sånt når du er ferdig vaska?
Do you know any other plastic dressing for an old golf mk2? I have a 1989 GTI and cant find a good plastic dressing, I've used some Chemical Guys products before and Gyeon, Gyeon was great, but too expensive and I can't find Carpro perl in germany. And how did you remove all the rust?
pleaseeeee fix the rust in the engine bay! your rabbit is basically rust free compared to most from what i can tell id cry if the rust spread and got bad. its such a nice car!
Yeah pretty much that 😜 It was so extremely neglected that I had to go very hard at it. A couple of weeks later, everything is working perfectly. Power washing an engine bay is no problems in general, one simply has to use common sense. Dont spray to close, cover up some of the electrical components etc. 👍
You should NEVER use pressure washer on the engine, the water will force it's way into electrical connections and will sit there for days, causing corrosion.. Also generator should never get soaking wet, it can get just a lil bit wet, also you have to be careful with the pressure washer to not get it where the oil stick is and where the oil cap is, the water can get in the engine. Good video but still many things to improve on
hei is it a o-ring or a gasket on the oilfilter housing on a B230FK??? because mine is sweting a bit same for oil return from turbo in to the block. there's a lot of oil around the block and gearbox. it sims to come from the oil Cooler and oil return... jag trodde fråga deg.. volvo mester..
Bought a new one by the looks of it. Can be a pain, if the studs are seized. I’d leave alone if I were you. Need to bag the dizzy, it won’t like all that water!
