Currently watching the video and my god, it's got more holes in it than a fine Swiss cheese, but where I live, Mk2 Golf's are a common scene in the city, reliable old tanks. My dad had a '85 Golf, the bottom of the barrel in a banana yellow paint job, he drove it until he sold it in the mid 90's. I've unfortunately never seen a proper GTI Mk2 but I have seen a GT and other high variant models or tastefully modded Golf's. I am excited to see the rest of the build.
great stuff as always, funny to look as an northen europe person, that someone from overseas does such stuff to our normal cars. keep it up good buddy!
Doing this same exact job on the same exact car right now. Neck hurts 😂. First time doing something like this so it's a bit daunting, I'm to the point where I'm about to remove the seat slider bracket and the two side brackets. Thank you for making this video, I will reference it and I also love the way you made those templates. That would have saved me a lot of time. Tbh you really should wear some better PPE, grinding/rust dust is nasty stuff on the lungs.
I had mk3 1995 golf, crust and rust...very entertaining video as always good sir. But dear heavens, you havent given up on Volvo have you? Cause i will be sad if you have...but still watch your videos no matter what =)
Great video! Gives me a better idea what to expect. Being from Western PA, not too far from the old VW factory actually(that you mentioned). My 85 Mk2 diesel golf has seen better days, slowly suffering from PA salt ☹️. Hopefully, it will be getting some new patch pieces soon.
Hey man, so I bought a golf mk2 as first car with 71k km only. I also have some rust and would love to get complete rid of the rust. Is cutting out the rusty part an option? Would love to keep the car mint conditioned. It is a Golf 2 CL, so nothing special (I think, except low mileage). Would you say cutting out the rusty part is a good option? Golf 2 Tour edition.
I am running out of excuses to fix the rust on mine now that I saw this video, looks great!
something different in this one, can't quite put my finger on it! Great video, sir.

Man, that’s some serious work!
Great job! Can't wait to see the rest of it!
I really like your style and pasing. 👍

Handsomest car-tuber in the East
Is there any possibility you could do a video tutorial of how you make a patch and how you graft in new metal that shapes up
Awesome video, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Looks great, can't wait for more videos

Oh nice, where at in Western PA? I'm from Pittsburgh. The GTI lived the most of its life in Ohio, it was BAD.

More vids!
Entertaning, would love to se what you could do with a couple of millions subs 👍
Thanks! I hope to find out!
What were you creating the patch out of before you remade it from solid metal
3m aluminum foil tape.
Any chance I could commission you to do this type of repair on my MK2?
do you know if the floor panels are the same for 2 or 4 doors?
Yes they are.

Golf 2 Tour edition.
Nice! And yes, cutting it out all together and putting in new material is the only proper way to fix it.
@@bakedbeansgarage116 is it true that also the Golf C Goes up in value? Heard that they are starting to become a rare car
Hey man, how long did this video take to complete in hours? Seems like it would take a long while to complete, amazing work as usual.
Fixing rust always takes ages. I'd guess this was about 50-60 hours or work over 3 weeks for me. Thank you!
Those flaps were for downforce. Good luck not flying away and becoming an astronaut.
Come to think of it, I did the same on the GTI. Maybe that's why I crashed.
What flaps are you guys talking about?
@@nazk851509:41
Those pieces you threw out are going to ruin your downforce and the car is going to fly away. Or maybe you'll be faster than Danny Ric. Idk.
Faster, maybe, but he's surely cuter
dude, please... put the protection on that grinder.
the rest; good job
Becase of boy racers gti mk 2 is rare car and you still race and crash
Shit happens, bud.
