As a Brit who currently lives in S.A. (and who does not understand the Afrikaans language), all I can say is: Well done Orania, well done Afrikaners. You are a credit to your community. We English speakers should follow in your footsteps and establish a similar town with "similar cultural values".
South Africa was like this 30 years ago! It's a daily reminder in current South Africa why 94' and Democracy was what lead to our downfall, our once world class cities are being burnt to the ground by citizens who pay a fraction of market related rent but demand free services.

Notice how wherever we go, we can take a wasteland and turn it into paradise with steady effort. The success of this small enclave is a HUGE embarrassment to all African governments which is why they pretend you don’t exist. I’m a Scottish/Nordic-American man and a retired US Army Infantryman. I’ve studied your history in length and I can’t understand why the world wants our people off the face of the earth. I’ve fought in wars and experienced various races and cultures, it’s clear that they are incapable of mixing with our society and must be left alone to their own devices and live their own way. We’ve tried to teach them how to grow food and make their lives better yet they choose to embrace corruption en masse and sit on their collective asses. I live in Texas and am well armed and equipped to the same level as I had before 2010 and surrendering our weapons isn’t going to happen which pisses off the “puppet masters” to no end. Most Infantry Veterans are like myself, well prepared and we cross talk with our buddies because we know it’s only a matter of time before a social collapse occurs. They want this to be able to usher in a new order of government that would remove our original Constitution and then the people would beg for the new order to stabilize society. It’s not like we got our memory’s wiped clean when we left the Military, it’s simple to do the skills we learned.
I encourage your community to construct an underground infrastructure that’s well hidden and includes false underground bunkers to throw off any enemy probing. Also consider forming forms of underground food production that would allow your people to survive under for a year if need be. It’s my hope that every one of you survives since there’s no room for parasites in such a small community as yours.

When I look at Orania I see a community that is trying its best to provide for its people, I see a community that is safeguarding its identity and building a place where everyone can flourish to whatever capacity he or she is able.
I hope one day all European people can say the same thing in their own territories.
Strange, I see a remnant of Apartheid. I don't see what everyone else sees, namely an innocent little community just trying to live peacefully on its own to provide for fellow Afrikaans-speaking (whatever race apparently) citizens. I see an idea that found its root at the incipience of a racial segregation that is still today reaping what it sowed for countless of stubborn decades. I see a people who assume that living in this specific way and speaking this specific language is the only true way of living out life. Ironically, most of these people will probably identify as Christian yet not a single one of them seem to understand the story of the Bible and especially verses like Revelation 7:9 and Jesus's parable on the Wedding Feast (Matthew 22). I see an idea that is insidious. In short, I don't see myself and any honest Christian supporting this.
PS: I wholly support a community that thrives and each individual striving for excellence, yet I don't see why this has to come at the cost of prohibiting different languages/ethnicities from contributing to it.

Why should "honest Christians" settle for living amongst people who hate them and want to destroy everything they stand for? God freed his people from the Egyptians and lead them to drive out the heathens from a piece of land and to create their own nation, repeatedly telling them not to marry or even share a meal with those people, since their poisonous beliefs and ideologies would infect God's people and lead them astray.
Multiculturalism is an epic failure and the evidence is everywhere. Once beautiful and peaceful American and European cities are collapsing into crime-infested hellholes. Racial tensions are rising all over the world. Economies are collapsing. Conservative Christians dominated the world and it lead to the most prosperous, peaceful era in human history. Returning to our roots and starting to build again is the only option we have left.

good point, but a dam already exist down river, (Van Der Kloof) it has no effect, then also should a dam be built upriver, (which could be a problem) but even then the law states that no dam are allowed to stop a river, the natural flow of the river is not allowed to be blocked, (only the storm and rainwater are allowed to be stored and kept in any dam)

Are Afrikaner-Jews (or Boerejode) allowed to live and work in Orania? They are an important aspect and part of the whole Afrikaner culture.
If I recall correctly, Orania is >85% Protestant and Pentecostal, with the remaining being miscellaneous christian, I may be wrong.
I've read about more than a few thriving enclaves exclusive to "Afrikaner-Jode" people across SA. I wonder if they predate Orania. There was one community that looked very well off, it had a bust of Denis Goldberg.

I don't understand comments like these. They have the right to live in a city where their ethnicity and culture is promoted. Nobody is making blacks (who have whole states just for this purpose) or coloured people live there.

My people had to fight to the teeth in order to have a nation where they can call home and where they can preach the word of God, without being oppresed by other ethnic/religious groups. I sympathize with the boers and I see their struggle to be even greater, since they live as a minority in a country that is against them.

Fighting wars in the name of having an exclusive culture is not what I see when I look at the character of Jesus and His teachings. But the histories of these two countries are very different so it makes for a more complex conversation in person. Thanks for your opinion, it's definitely something I will meditate on in the future.
