This is actually been proven to be mostly incorrect. Normally your instincts are lying to you. Especially if your untrained in whatever the subject matter is that your relying on your instincts for
not to freak you out or scare you, but when hiking alone put your hair in a bun. I used to teach a self-defense class and ponytails and braids are too easy to grab onto...a small pepper spray and a loud whistle are also good proactive safety devices...stay safe and enjoy the journey...your channel is cool love yours and your cousins videos 👍

Tip for preventing your tripod from blowing over in the wind: hang a weighted item like a small backpack or plastic grocery bag with bottled water or a couple of rocks in it from your tripod. Always go with your gut. If you don't feel safe, go someplace that you do. Your gut feeling is always a good thing. You did right by going to where you felt safe, especially when you're alone.

If you want sleep better at night, (( without any noise )) as a Professional Truck Driver for the past 25 years, I always sleep whit ears plug , it’s like sleeping on another planet, because you ear ABSOLUTELY nothing of your surrounding.

You should visit the central coast. Specifically, see the elephant seals just south of San Simeon, the quaint Cayucos beach town with its original pier, eat delicious fresh fish & chips while watching sea otters in Morro Bay, hike the beautiful ocean views of Montana de Oro State Park in Los Osos after stopping at the best bread bakery anywhere, Caliwala; I could go on forever!
Good video Sarah, you are getting so comfortable behind the camera compared to a couple years ago with Nikki, you where pretty shy. I live out in the country with no close by neighbors. The Coyote sound will take a while to get used to, 2 or 3 coyote's can sound like a pack of 20. Probably best to go with another camper next time. I camp a lot myself in the Rocky Mtns AB Canada. You will always hear funny noises in the bush, that's just how it is, the wind does funny things. Your in a vehicle that is locked, so you will be fine. It will just take awhile to get comfortable. Nothing wrong with truck stops if you can sleep through the noise. Good Luck.
maybe add this to the list of "must do" before you sleep: Back-up site/safe area to go to when you get creeped out again, so you wont have to drive around late at night looking for one. pls be safe and thank you for sharing.

Hey Sarah just a little FYI, your gas cap cover has some metal slotted on it. That actually holds your gas cap so you don't have to let it hang by the plastic strap that will eventually break. Keep the handle in your hand and slid the cap into the slot from the top. STAY SAFE always!
You're always going to hear the sounds at night in nature. You'll become more accustomed to it all no worries. Also the journey from GA to CO and the stuff in NV and with Nikki... seem to be leaving a lot of possible good content on the cutting room floor, just food for thought.
Balance and agility get better with overall fitness levels. Many of us have gym fitness at best but real life hiking and fitness gets all our little muscle strengthened and we naturally get more agile. Loving your content so far🎉🎉

I went to Palm Springs last year in January and there was SO MUCH RAIN the first couple of days and then the sun came out...I got amazing photos that 3rd day and it was fun exploring the area, HOWEVER, the whole entire reason I even wanted to go there was to explore the Indian Canyons and walk among those palm trees and water....DERP! I had TOTALLY forgotten and only remembered when it was too late! I guess I have a reason to go back but it was my 1st time "car camping" so there was a lot going on. After that trip I knew I needed a van...and I got one!

Cali has lots of interesting things to see, The sequoias and redwoods are amazing traveling along route 1 on the coast is a bucket list item. If you get the chance in Utah, Zion and Bryce canyon are stunning and have places around to camp.

5:17 Best decision ever!!!! Avoid sleeping in the wilderness/remote areas. I've seen experienced travelers who were attacked in the middle of the night (some can't even figure out if was a big animal or what it was as - luckily for them they remained in their van - but got scared af). I don't recommend anyone to do that. It's very risky. Also, if anything happens, never leave your car. Just jump on the driving seat and leave.
Excellent video. Very entertaining. I suggest you get a good wide brimmed hat to keep the sun off you face when hiking. Sunburn and windburn out west is hard on the skin. I liked how you cleaned up your nice rav4. Good looking rig.
For someone who has never traveled its very nice to see different parts of a continent one day i might visit im 51 live in the uk i visited france 32 years ago apart from that ive never left enhland

Love the videos so far! So happy that you trusted your gut and moved for the evening. I always tell my daughters never go against what your gut is telling you. I've been in California my entire life and driving the coast is my favorite thing to do especially when I need to clear my head. You might enjoy Mammoth Mountain for skiing (they still have snow in May), Hume Lake for a little paddleboarding in the mountains and Big Sir for the amazing views of the ocean as well as the mountains. Be safe!

Loveland is a hidden gem for skiing in colorado, great smaller but awesome resort compared to the other main ones and still holds it's own!

5:17 Best decision ever!!!! Avoid sleeping in the wilderness/remote areas. I've seen experienced travelers who were attacked in the middle of the night (some can't even figure out if was a big animal or what it was as - luckily for them they remained in their van - but got scared af). I don't recommend anyone to do that. It's very risky. Also, if anything happens, never leave your car. Just jump on the driving seat and leave.

Love the videos so far! So happy that you trusted your gut and moved for the evening. I always tell my daughters never go against what your gut is telling you. I've been in California my entire life and driving the coast is my favorite thing to do especially when I need to clear my head. You might enjoy Mammoth Mountain for skiing (they still have snow in May), Hume Lake for a little paddleboarding in the mountains and Big Sir for the amazing views of the ocean as well as the mountains. Be safe!
