  • First Time Solo Car Camping in my Subaru Forester.
After years of being afraid to camp alone and dealing with anxiety, I finally overcame my fear to go solo car camping. For the first time I went to Rood Creek Campground in Omaha, GA and camped in my Subaru Forester. I had no idea what to do, or how to prepare for this solo camping trip, but I was determined to try it out. This video is a reflection on what it was like for me, how much it has changed my perspective on trying difficult things and how it helped me overcome my fears!

Good for you for pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone and trying out a new adventure in carcamping - you have a Forester so you were off to a great start! 🙂
My first carcamping experience was in my 1984 Subaru Hatchback on the beach of Ensenada, Mexico. Definitely smaller sleeping space compared to my Forester and my Forester will be much more comfortable and capable in foul weather and bad road conditions!
Hope you get out more regularly for these kinds of adventures! Cheers!

I have reservations at a campground for a few days while I visit my long time friend. I'll be staying at a hotel when I visit my other two friends. I'm going to the Susuquehenna Forest but I haven't made any reservations for that part of the journey yet. This is so exciting! I may just have to video my trip for posterity!

Enjoyed your video. I'm surprised you couldn't stretch out in the back. When I put down the wide rear seat it measures 72" to the back of the front seat. I am 5'-11" and I can fit in it. I also use a Generarc 1000 Watt Solar battery pack & two 100 folding Solar panels to recharge it if I don't have access to Electric. I just purchased a Little Ceramic 400 Watt heater for about $10.00 that is very quiet and plan on using that for those chilly mornings. I think I saw a Lucy solar light in the rear of your vehicle. I have a few of those I use and usually put it up on the dash to charge in my 2023 Forester Touring edition. I also have a self inflating pad for sleeping on but am planning to get a 3 or 4" Memory foam pad that is 2' X 73" for more insulation and comfort. Hope to see more video's soon and hoe you enjoy yourself out there! Stay Safe!

I was having an issue bc I was parked on a slope in this video. Eventually I’d love to invest in some solar panels! I’ll have to check out the ones you use!

There is more risk to you and other road users messing about on your phone while driving than sleeping alone in the forest. That short clip would get you a $700 fine here- self incriminating. Good luck with your adventures.

It’s no different than looking at a map. Thank you for your concern for our fellow citizens. Might I suggest joining a neighborhood watch. I hear they give you a clipboard and badge.
