Ill say this about both. I had both...but let the big six go for another six. Vocals sound better on the original six. I believe the compression hits first in the chain on the original six resulting in a smoother sound post eq
@Claude. You're exactly right. I was monitoring the audio before being input to the video gear. I didn't realize my video ingest has bumped its audio in level back to its nominal -- (claimed +4dBu but with little headroom above that) -- level. Sometimes it remembers the lowered pad through power cycles, other times it does not. And I usually remember to recheck upon power cycle, but some times I do not. Which is why I butted in with the post production note at twenty seconds in with the explicit disclaimer that the audio was overdriven on capture. If I was to reshoot the whole thing, I probably wouldn't get to it for at least a week. I decided that going to publication with the flaw was the lesser of two bad situations. Sorry.
@gurinder ::sigh::. Yeah. I know. I was monitoring my audio at a point before it hit the video gear. It is kind of embarrassing, true. But I wasn't going to re-shoot everything. As I indicated about twenty seconds into the vid ;)
Nice video! Looking forward to hearing more as you get the unit fitted into the studio.
Great review of the new SSL Big Six, looking forward to getting my hands on one!
Epic overview. Can’t wait for part 2!
Very very hard to see a video about recording/ mixing that displays this type of sound
Nice review ! Big 6 is looking sweet !
Thanks for sharing it is large compared to the original Six.

Are you using the LMC on your mic? LOL
Har. Nope. Sounded great in monitoring - which was before the signal hit my video gear.
Thanks for stopping by!
Is it just me or is there voice recording distorted?

Cool germanium fuzz tone on your voice over...
I’m wondering if it’s possible to connect them both ??
