I genuinely planned on buying a tudor ranger but was on the fence so ordered this for a trial before I paid the big bucks. This piece is so good I have no desire to pay the 2.5k for a tudor. Highest praise I can give san martin.
They are what they are, the build quality is good the price is good. I own a couple for my everyday wear. If you damage them it doesn’t matter. There are always going to be people that knock, that’s there choice as is the people that wear them. Excellent review rob
They are more than good enough to be in the high street jewelers. I have one of these with the white lume and love it. I wear this more than far more expensive watches in my collection. Oh I put the on the fly clasp on it. Perfect!
Great review Rob! They make some great quality watches that give people who can't afford the real thing a taste of what it would be like! Nothing wrong with that!
Nothing wrong with San Martin watches. Snobs will hate the brand but at the end of the day watches are man jewelry-just buy what you like. I know many well to do people who would never spend more money than say an Apple Watch. I think the problem with watch collectors is they buy the watches that impress others in the watch community when everyone else (muggles) couldn’t care less. This is a crazy 😜 hobby!
Another really honest and genuine take on a watch - thanks. In my experience having owned a few of these now, I'd go a bit further though - if they made the crown action smoother, you're looking at a $1k watch easily imo.
I got the 36mm watch today and the bracelet edges are a bit sharp I should say and makes squeaky noises. But a lot of watch for $200 surely. I love the size and finishing of the dial and case.
Thanks for reviewing this watch. I own two San Martins and can't believe the value. Check out their Deep Blue homage. The gradient mother of pearl dial is amazing
Yeah...they make good watches. I'm really trying to avoid copied designs these days but I don't think I can resist their ST19 powered Speedie '57. I like going the custom dial option; I sorta came up with my own 'logo' that they can print on the watch. It's only an extra $30 and having that tiny bit of creative input helps me connect with the watch.
I have recently gone away from the homages, but San Martin make it INCREDIBLY hard to buy original watches under $500. I currently own a mini turtle, the dresskx, and the 38mm bambino. And my san martin SN017 diver is MILES ahead in quality versus all of them.
I’ve been wearing the enamel green and gilt BB36 homage since the summer and absolute adore it. The pricing depends on exchange rates, but SM offer amazing quality for the money. Very tempted by this one. My only wish is that it would have a splash of red text at the lower half of the dial. I think that would balance it out even nicer.
The sterile dial version of these look amazing, too. Normally only fliegers get a pass with sterile dials, but somehow it really works with the Ranger.
Got the one where the numbers have shiny edges , the 2023 model, way better, and yeah the band is too short, and NOPE, San Martin does not want to sell me a few extra links... Customer service? NOPE. How hard can it be? You want to sell to the Dutch? Make a watch that FITS.
Fantastic! I would probably get this. The bracelet looks legit good 👍 Granted it is a direct copy of the Tudor Ranger but at least the price is reasonable eh.
I have 2 San Martin watches and they are very good . I travel with then . If something happens to them it's not big lost . Both mine have the PT5000 movement.
Hi Rob, I have one of these as well, but the colour difference between the hands and indices is huge (especially under indoor lighting) How is yours? I’m considering buying the white-marker version because the colour matching on mine is so bad….
Hard to beat SM on components or finishing in the under-$500 bracket. I’d be all over this if I didn’t wear my Monta Triumph so much. Just bonkers what they can deliver for people who like homages and are cool with the Ali shipping or a local warehouse markup.
I got 36 mm version. The watch has sharp edges of case and bracelet and feels unusual cheap. May be it's okay for the money but take a notice if you willing to buy.
Is there anyone out there who owns a sterile version of this or any San Martin watch? Just wondering if the entire watch is sterile or if the san martin logo is still on the clasp? Thanks for any replies!
If you decide to sell the watch at any time after purchasing, the sterile versions don’t hold their value. Based on buying auction watches on eBay. San Martin watches with logos seem to hold value very well. Sterile watches either don’t sell or go for a much lower price. I guess those buying a SanMartin, want a SanMartin.
The hands set looks the same as on Islander/The Urban Gentry "Rangemaster". Actually, the whole watch looks like a cheaper version of Rangemaster with the simpler movement. Interesting!
This watch looks like a cheaper version of the Tudor Ranger (2022). But it seems to have a good quality for the price and not everyone can achieve an original Tudor. That´s why it´s OK.
I’m a big Islander fan. I own 3 Islanders and modded two. Owned one San Martin and sold it. But SM uses *much* better components and *much* higher levels of finishing on their sub-$500 watches. The lower prices are because you aren’t paying for American sales/logistics/warranty/staff. Or much in the design department.
Unfortunately they're not garbage. A big part of me honestly wishes they were - my watch life was a lot easier 10 years ago when these things didn't exist, or even 5 years ago when they genuinely were garbage. Now I'm left to wonder where the other $800 goes in a $1k watch, and it's not comfortable.
Probably 80-90% of what you own, tools, clothes, parts for your vehicle, home electronics, kitchen appliances etc. are made in China so I guess it makes you a hypocrite.

Same
same
Same, I'm thinking about just going for the SM
Okaaaay!
Nice! How is the accuracy of the movement?
That finger on the wooden stick is hilarious 👍

I have three San martin watches in my collection, they aren't just great value for money, they are REALLY good watches
I got the 36mm version. Absolutely stunning
If I didn’t see this comment I would have never known. Just ordered 👍
I got the 36mm version with no branding. It’s pretty amazing for the price. I own an explorer I and bb36 and it definitely holds up
I have the 36 mm explorer and the 38mm vintage diver . I am taking them to Thailand with me .
They are more than good enough to be in the high street jewelers. I have one of these with the white lume and love it. I wear this more than far more expensive watches in my collection. Oh I put the on the fly clasp on it. Perfect!

Other fact is that snobs only exist online too. Nobody in real life could give a sh!t.
Incredible execution on this one. I'm hoping that they will bring it out with the pt5000 movement

Great video RR, thanks for sharing it with us. This San Martin puts many thousand dollar plus watches to shame.

San Martin makes incredible watches for the money. I have several with never having a problem. Highly recommend!

In the 36 mm version they made the faux patina less orange based off feedback.

Just got this in today and I am very impressed! Terrific value and very good looking!
Looks great Rob! I just ordered the 6200 retro dive on Black Friday sale. Can't wait.
Thank you Rob - I have been looking at this one to use as mod base
San Martins are soooo great. Really like the new original designs they’ve been putting out lately. I hope they keep in that direction.
Yes they make brilliant watches, no one should be without a great time peace. 🇬🇧

I own one and it's awesome to be honest. Way worth the investment and is one of my go-to's.
Yes! On my wrist right now😅
The watches coming out of China are shockingly good!!
That’s a seriously good deal! Thanks Rob! Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy thanksgiving 🦃
For such a hyped up brand, they don’t seem to be selling too many watches. Across all their models, they have just over 1000 sold.
I wonder why…
Not sure that is correct.
Maybe different stores count their own sales.
Fantastic! I would probably get this. The bracelet looks legit good 👍
Granted it is a direct copy of the Tudor Ranger but at least the price is reasonable eh.
Better off without. The watch is nice but the bracelet feels real flimsy.
The 5711 hommage is pretty funny on their website, it's even Tiffany, Looks pretty well done.
Hi. Great Video. What does G4 Stand for?
Apart from the case being a bit sharp this watch is almost flawless (in 36mm size and white lume, the faux patina is a bit too much imo)
SN020 and SN006 are their best models.
I have 2 San Martin watches and they are very good . I travel with then . If something happens to them it's not big lost . Both mine have the PT5000 movement.
Hi Rob,
I have one of these as well, but the colour difference between the hands and indices is huge (especially under indoor lighting)
How is yours?
I’m considering buying the white-marker version because the colour matching on mine is so bad….
I think that may be a cool thing. A little variation on an otherwise simplistic design.
looks good
The bracelet has pins or screws ?
Is it easy to resize ?
Thanks
Hard to beat SM on components or finishing in the under-$500 bracket. I’d be all over this if I didn’t wear my Monta Triumph so much. Just bonkers what they can deliver for people who like homages and are cool with the Ali shipping or a local warehouse markup.
I just got this, it disappears on the wrist. Just wish the lume lasted longer. Welcome the San Martin club!
@RandomRob , are the screw pins single or double ones? Do you need one or two screwdrivers to unscrew them? Thanks
One
I've been waiting for your opinion on San martin watches.
Great review thanks RR
It’s a little concerning that a watch of this apparent quality is able to be sold for profit at such a low price 😕
I got 36 mm version. The watch has sharp edges of case and bracelet and feels unusual cheap. May be it's okay for the money but take a notice if you willing to buy.
Totally agree. The watch is noisy too. You can even hear it on this video.
I want one!
I choose pagani

Hard to resist, 1/10th the price of the Ranger…
your wrists are massive. wow
7.25” wrist is not massive.
Looks a lot like the islander
The Islander is a fugly dumpster fire of a watch 🤣
@@Mr_Memer.876 I wouldn't say fugly...but......
The hands set looks the same as on Islander/The Urban Gentry "Rangemaster". Actually, the whole watch looks like a cheaper version of Rangemaster with the simpler movement. Interesting!
Yes, this is an hommage to an Islander. LOL
It is an homage to Tudor Ranger.

I wonder where the urban gentry watch is manufactured...hmm
Great watch, but...My wrist is 24 to 25 cm, average Dutch, male wrist...Now you know why so many people wear NATO... No Hobbits live here..
Hey that looks an awful like a Tudor Ranger
It's amazing what you can accomplish with slave labor.
Proof?
Ranger garbage ripoff
Didn't your mother ever tell you that if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all? It's good advice to live by!
Unfortunately they're not garbage. Interesting comment section. Looks like a lot of China defenders.
People are defending the quality of the watch. What country the watch is manufactured in ain't got nothing to do with it.
What Daniel said.
