- The Stratford Classic is an annual river competition, held on the Warwickshire Avon in and around Stratford-upon-Avon with 70 anglers taking part. This is Jon's first time fishing the prestigious event. Can he catch enough to frame - or maybe even win it and get his name etched on the coveted Billy Lane Memorial Trophy?

I love it when you asume you don't have much chance in a match. It makes you get your head down and try and put a respectable net together.. Then the weigh-in comes and you end up in the over-all frame.. Credit to the winner, that's an awesome weight of Snotter's. Credit where it's due Jon.

Excellent result Jon. Those Perch definitely made the difference. Every time a fish was skimming on the top I kept expecting to see the dreaded Pike pop up and snatch it away 😆

My godparents were from Stratford I haven't been there for years. Nice memories of the chain ferry as a child. It's a place I used to enjoy visiting. This brought back many happy memories

Your groundbait technique should really help all anglers alike . No secrets here , all the ingredients shown and added openly well done Jon. A great result , bream ruined your party as predicted. I looked for those nice desque floats you used , they are that good everybody has sold out , keep on bagging as dave wood would say

Another great result Jon well done 👍 lovely touch at 11.00 too. I know this stretch well visit my friend in Stratford and fish all the way through to the Lido had some lovely bags of roach. Always love your river videos, please keep them coming. Did see you were puffing a bit getting to your swim from the car park that beastly covid still hanging about take care and look after yourself 👍
Cheers! I was puffing more because I had to dash to the other end of the stretch and back before the start in all my clobber, which cost me 20 mins setting up time! Plus I'm unfit ha ha!

Well Jon another great match from the mistro. Fantastic days sport on the pole there Jon the short line do you ever set s 11ft rod in the stick float or would it distract you from your pole line. A wag or stick might've been ok if Id had time to set either up, but I also felt it was shallow enough and not fast enough to keep the fish on the pole line. Id like to go back with the rods now though...

Well done Jon, cracking weight. Bet those two big perch were 5lbs between them. Really enjoy and relate to how you fish different venues where in summer you'll be on carp and a 20lb might be a big fish but on the river you give the same respect, probably more to a 12oz roach.
Don't think you could ask for more than second so brilliant result. Can't compete for first when it's one shoal of bream that's fed.

😂 that’s crazy!!! Soon as you showed that church I thought about the bells ringing lol and few seconds later there was the bells!! I’m just glad they weren’t ringing all through the video….😂 that would be torture lol!! That was one of the best videos on how to fish a River that i have ever seen.
I love my Roach Fishing so to watch a Master was a joy.
I fish the Dorset Stour where i live and that still produces big bags on the right day.

I have some fish that look like Bass, the trouble is when I catch one, my Mrs runs into the kitchen and cooks it for dinner.
