    Update on the TX22, they found that the slide release spring was too light and just outside of tolerances. They replaced it with a stiffer spring. This solved the issue and the gun runs perfectly now. Best 22 there is by far.

    I knew someday my crappy grip would be an asset!! :D But seriously - bummer that you're having these issues. I'm early into mine (~300 rounds) and it has been not only flawless but fun. You provided great info here, well done. I think we are in complete agreement on the nice attributes of this pistol. Could be a 'best in class' if they can manage their QC.

    • @maximusjoseppi5904
      @maximusjoseppi5904  5 лет назад +1

      Haha! Hey man, thank you for the comment. Big fan of your channel.
      My suspicion was that holding the frame very stable was sending the impulse through the slide stop just enough to get it to catch sometimes. I spoke to their senior engineer and he agreed. He said my spring was on the low end of the tolerances so he replaced it with one on the higher end and wants me to see if that fixes it.

    OOH, so many positive youtube reviews of this tauras I finally purchased mine 7/5/19 and was totally excited for this gun finally got the chance to get out and start putting some rounds down range, yeah.... ¡¡NO BUENO!! Mine, and mine only must have come with a gremlin My gun kept malfunctioning, slide kept locking back after litterally 2nd round fired, slide just kept locking back took the clip out tried again, tried the other clip, thinking it was ammo (using walmart winchester M-22) I swapped the ammo out to (walmart again, remmington thunderbolt) still kept getting slide lock, also tried (more walmart winchester super X) still same problem thinking it was me or just needed to be better cleaned and lubed, did that, cleaned it and lubed, basic field strip, still same problem thinking it was maybe my hand catching on the slide lock I fired one handed left hand making sure I wasn't putting my hand on the slide lock still same problem bout 200rnds into it of test firing, I started to notice that the gun slide was not going all the way into battery (maybe because of carbon/lead fouling) eventually I started getting FTF soft rim strikes long story short I sent it to the manufacture, I was told 12 week turn around😥😥😥😥😥 I did however get it back a week later👍👍. The paperwork shows replaced barrel, replaced firing pin, replaced slide spring. I havent quite got the chance to fire it yet but I sure hope its fixed and becomes my favorite new toy thanx for posting this video I was thinking I was the only one with a bad gun and that it was just a bad fluke on my taurus

    Ok I don't know how I missed this video. It even seems that I left a comment at some point??? The crazy thing is that I could have made the very same video. I actually had the very same problem. My slide would lock back on almost every round. More and less often with different types of ammo. I actually had to send it in twice before it was fixed. The first time all they did was replace the barrel and the locking slide problem was not fixed. The second time I sent it in, they returned it with a work order that said "NPF" (no problem found) yet they seem to have replaced the slide stop spring, because the problem seems to be fixed. It works great now. I absolutely love the little gun even though it was VERY AGGRAVATING at first trying to get it fixed.
    I hope you see this comment because this the VERY SAME problem I had , even worse, and now it seems to be 100% fixed.
    AS far as my comment before, all I can figure is that I was watching videos on this gun and that comment was meant for another video. As you can see the comment would have been much different if I had actually seen YOUR video. Good luck with customer service at Taurus. It isn't their strong point by any means. Maybe you could just order the spring and put it in yourself. That was my plan if they didn't fix it the second time.

    Made over 1000 rounds this weekend with mine, the only trouble was with the golden bullet (once). With any fire arm we should check it before your fire it to include screws. I agree with the lemon theory. I forget that it is a .22 as it shoots magazine after magazine without failure.

      from talking to other people who own them and even looking at comments on this channel, it is a recurring problem with the tx22 so its not just mine. im assuming its a tolerance issue but you also need a certain grip for the failure to occur as well. glad you dont experience it, its a great gun otherwise.

I've tried about 6 types of amko including vi. I really like the ergonomics , feel, and function. It is very well designed. When I rapid fire I have less issues. My Spectrum started doing a Slide Lock Back after estimated 110 rounds. Story is - had Fail To Fire out of the box and I messed with that for like 52 rounds before sending it in. 8 weeks later got it back and that is fixed (most part - had 2 Fail To Fire out of a 68 round test).
    Then next time out -- had 40 to 50% Slide Lock Back for 26 rounds. Messed with that and and same thing basically next time out 26 rounds. I did not realize it was a Slide Lock back (though just a Fail to Feed) until I went out again (shot 10 rounds before the first Slide Lock back).
    Then i taped the Slide Lock Back Lever down so it would not lock back and no Slide Lock Back with the tape on until the Mag was empty. I made an observation that the Slide Lock Back Lever seems to have "little or no" SPRING PRESSURE to hold it down.
    I also have noted that if a bullet is moved FWD (say less than 1/8 inch) from rear of the MAG that it will push the Inner Tab up and could cause a Slide Lock Back while the slide is cycling and the next bullet moves up in the MAG. However, that was not the case in the Last and I suspect other Lock Backs I had as when I removed the MAG the bullet was at the rear of the MAG and would not be able to touch the Inner Tab (there is very little clearance between the bullet and that TAB as the Bullet rises in the MAG).
    I suspect the "Bullet and Inner Tab" interference is not an issue on a full size gun like the TX22, but the Spectrum is a MINI 380.
    I sent it in to TAURUS April 2.

    Check the slide stop yourself and see if its a bad spring with too much tension on if so bend it slightly if not the opposite too much tension or the spring its not resting in the groove its supposed to go; maybe. I'm pretty sure the just shot the gun when it went in for warranty and didn't take it apart.

      This is straight out fun to shoot. I bought mine Monday. Already fired nearly 500 rounds.
      Ive used only cci hi velocity hollow points and 40 grain ball thus far and have experienced no malfunctions of any kind. The first mag was fired straight from the box. Thrn I cleaned and lubed it.
      Almost every video on RUclips about this pistol the op is grinning the whole time. These things are a blast to shoot. Literally and figuratively.
      I run cci ammo exclusively in all of my 22 pistols. Tomorrow I'll run some hyper velocity stingers and velicitorsand I have no doubt they'll run flawlessly in the TX taurus.

    It is interesting that it only happened with a tight grip. It’s like squeezing the gun is somehow causing the spring to be allowed to sneak upwards.
    I wonder if you could take the slide off, squeeze the frame and see if it warps at all? I know I can crush a polymer grip with no mag in the gun, but some guns bend more than others.
    You seem to have large hands and long fingers, so I figured you were hitting it until you showed that angle and it was clear you weren’t. And cleaning has nothing to do with slide stops.
    One last thing: I haven’t seen one for under $290 yet. Online prices, which are usually the cheapest, are $290-$309. My LGS wanted $349, and would only come down $10 since it’s just out. At $260, I’m going to get one. I have smaller, “presidential” hands (big palms, stubby nub fingers), but I tend to grip guns tightly. Now I’m a bit nervous.

    • @maximusjoseppi5904
      @maximusjoseppi5904  5 лет назад

      my guess was that stabilizing the frame to a high extent was sending the recoil impulse into the slide stop and the spring was too light.

    • @jamiesloan5902
      @jamiesloan5902 5 лет назад +1

      LOL. The mag release wouldn't make the slide lock back. Do you have any idea how firearms function? The follower pushes the slide lock tab UP, after the mag is empty. THAT'S how it works on EVERY firearm. Plus, this gun doesn't have a magazine disconnect, that makes the gun not fire, without a magazine in it. Get your gun out, and watch how things work in it. Finally transfered.to acquaintance who is armorer for regional police agency. Same problem as I had. You could send Taurus a dead squirrel and they would send it back NPF.

    Love mine and doesn't have your issues altho it does seem to hate Remington Thunderbolt. Otherwise runs pretty great on every other ammo I've tried. Agree that the sight screws need to be checked (I loctited mine). Also agree about the terrific trigger. They should put it in the G2C... And yep, the ergos are maybe the best of any of my stock handguns - for my grip anyway. I'd be all over an up calibered version - a 9mm or .40 would be an instant buy from me. The plastic mags are just more effecient for 22. Here's a trick if you haven't figured it out already, don't use the tabs on the sides, load it kinda like a regular 9mm magazine, much easier and quicker. There's a little v ramp you'll notice where you push the case down.

      well for starters, its not how hard you can squeeze a gun that makes a grip good or not, its where you put pressure haha. your grip strength has almost nothing to do with controlling recoil, its in the biomechanics of your arms and wrists and their orientation. youre creating a vice, not squeezing.
      that being said, my gun had a defective slide stop spring. it was too light allowing it to jump independently when the pistol was held steady.
