They're using the 8+ Gen 1, not the regular 8 Gen 1.
The Poco F5 Pro has the 8+ Gen 1, and that's €450, so using the non-plus variant wouldn't make sense.

you could correct half of the video now with MKBHD's video.
What would be really cool: If you can assign individual parts of the glyph to specific contacts. So for example, if the upper glyph on the camera lights up that means Dad is calling. If the lower part on the camera lights up, it's mom calling, etc.
So, depending on which glyphs light up, you immediately know if you need to pick up the phone or not.

the snapdragon 8 gen 1 has worse performance than my old snapdragon 855 in games after the inefficient snapdragon 8 gen 1 (manufactured by samsung) throttles

Unfortunately the 8-Gen1 is among the horror show family of Samsung-made Snapdragons (870 through 8 Gen-1) Snapdragon made the comeback with the 8 Gen-2/8 plus Gen-1/ 7 plus Gen-1/2, and that was when they switched back to TSMC instead of Samsung.
The 778 in the Nothing Phone1 is a lot more stable than the 8 Gen-1, & sure the 8-Gen1 might reach higher clock speeds in GB benchmarks, but even doing light tasks it fails to maintain the temp. Threshold and throttles way too quickly.

@@itsmemario3648 can see that it says 8 plus Gen1 in the post shown in the video but then he went on explaining how the 8 Gen1 is better than the 778G. I thought the more likely thing is that its a typo rather than him talking about an entirely different processor for 2 minutes.
no need to worry about bro, it comes with 8+ Gen 1, it's completely different and they have done a pretty good work with the heating issue
Tbh $600 is still a bit too expensive for a phone powered by 8+ gen1, the Oneplus 11r also powered by 8+ gen1 but even their 16G RAM & 512G ROM ones don't cost that much, they have 100W fast charging which probably can charge a lot faster than the Nothing phone (2), and use the LPDDR5X as opposed to Nothing phone (2)'s LPDDR5 according to the rumors, well Nothing does beat them in design and wireless charging though

only thing is those rounded edges give a lot of the phone 1's character away for a regular android. My mate has a phone 1 and in my opinion it's one of the most confutable phones I've ever held only really behind the XR

What's the point of the lights on the back, when I will only put a case on it.
That is the biggest constraint case companies are going to have to deal with when designing a solid protective case which obviously has to have a clear back to see the glyphs.

8+ gen1 does support LPDDR5X if you take a look at some of the Chinese brands

The hidden cost for this phone is (again) likely to be the very minimal timeframe of security patches:
