No matter how long I've been using a tool, I always seem to learn something new about it when I watch your videos. Thanks again!
I agree!
I never knew that I could use a plunge cut before now. Thanks for including that in your video 👍
I had my jigsaw for over ten years, still learned a lot from you, many thanks
Very well done. Clear concise complete well paced video. EASY to view, HEAR, UNDERSTAND AND REMEMBER. No added video not related subject /job. You are a very good teacher. Thank you.
Thanks for doing this I have used a jigsaw forever but never knew that effect the adjustment had. Well done.
Thanks Shannon, I can always learn something new.
Plunge cut?! I'd never seen that done before, really cool! I grew up without a dad to show me a lot of this stuff, so you and your videos have to sub in every now and then. Lol. I really appreciate everything you're doing. Looking forward to passing knowledge to my kids, and helping them with their future projects too!
Never had much luck with clean cuts and a jig saw. When I go around curves, the blade will start to slant and not give me a perpendicular surface. Anyway, I still keep any eye out for these videos, one day they will show me what I've been doing wrong 🤣
Thanks for taking the time for video chapters!! Very informative video
Glad you like them!
Of all the tools I have, my jigsaw is the one I'm probably the least confident using. These little bits of useful information that I didn't know make me feel a little bit more comfortable. For example, I don't thing I ever would have noticed that some blades cut upwards and some downwards. Thanks, as always Shannon, for another informative video!
Glad it was helpful!
Very informative. I'd love to see a similar video on nail guns for DIY projects.
I have a whole list of tool videos that I will post here. I have one for brad nailers but not for framing nailer yet.ruclips.net/p/PLh0KqGKtX4oWQlL_aXcOGF-S_f0sN6RKG
Always amazing videos! Have an awesome day!
Been subbed for a while now. You’re a must when I’m doing my projects around the house! Thanks for all the knowledge and content you provide
Shannon talks, I listen
Learned a lot. Thank you.
Thank you for the info.
I just picked up a jigsaw at my local HFH Restore so I was thrilled to see you post this video. You give such indepth and helpful information, all in a calming Canadian accent. Let me tell you, it's an improvement upon my dad's style of teaching me how to use new tools.
Glad I could help!
Hey Shannon, good to see you! Hope you’re doing well! Thanks for the vid. 👍👍
All good
Ty
My jig saw was the first power tool I ever bought nearly 30 years ago. I still use it as my go-to cutting tool, even if it’s not always the best choice. 😆 I’m just the most familiar with it.
Great video! I prefer to drill my pilot holes further away from my cut line and work into the cut. Less room for error.
I slow the speed setting if I'm cutting aluminum to reduce the blade from melting the aluminum and clogging, but never for wood at least yet, carbide blades are awesome last a lifetime in wood and a long time in composite.
Hi. Thanks for sharing. Mr Theodore Massonburg
Thanks for watching!
Starrett makes a blade with up and down in the same blade for plywood, Home Hardware used to carry them I don't know if they still do. They used to cost about $12 a pack
Not sure I have ever noticed that.
Shannon, I need to cut sheet masonite(hardboard) for a scenic backdrop on my Grandson's model railroad. What would be a proper jigsaw blade to use while the masonite is supported on 2 x 4s? The cuts will undulate mimicking hills. Thanks in advance. I always appreciate your videos.
I would suggest 12 -14 TPI. 10 TPI would be ok but it may leave a rougher cut edge.
@HouseImprovements The rough edge is ok on this project if it happens. But, I will try 12 TPI. Thanks.
👏
Here in England a Sabre saw is another name for a reciprocating saw.
Yes it is kind of used for both saws in different areas
👍
👍👍👍👍
Once I was using my corded jigsaw and had the trigger lock on. The saw came unplugged. I went back to plug it in, and, you guessed it, the jigsaw took off, scarring the dark hardwood floor. What a blooming idiot I am sometimes.
Is jig saw and Sabre saw same thing. Thanks
In some places jig saws and reciprocating saws are referred to as sabre saws
I almost never use a jig or saber saw. When I have I've almost always screwed up the blade because what I really needed was a multi tool. Now that there are multi tools I may never use a jig saw again.
I've always found jig saws are pretty freaky power tools. I try to avoid using them, honestly! They vibrate like mad and just seem like wild little monsters.
You need to apply enough down ward pressure while using to keep them in contact with the material surface and possibly you had a down cut blade which makes things even more jumpy if your not applying enough pressure.
