    I just bought this at a yard sale for $10. I had no idea about the rotating blade. Thanks!

    I picked this saw up at a thrift store over 5 years ago. I think mine may be older than yours due to the print style. I went looking for a how-to-use video and found this one. Now I'm excited to use to it cut the wood circle I need.

    This was my dream jigsaw when I was a kid... I have the next model down which has the same features including 1" stroke, just a little skinnier... but I like it better because of that and the fact that it has a very wide and thick shoe

    I have that exact same saw. Had it since 1977. The only problem I've had is the lock will often release from the vibration, so you have to make sure it doesn't wander on you. Oh, and I have that other Craftsman jig saw as well. A neighbor was throwing it away a few years ago. I keep that one in the garage for quick work.

    • @HI-FI_
      @HI-FI_  2 года назад +1

      This one doesn’t lock when I push down the red lever, I took it apart, but it doesn’t appear that it ever was intended to lock, so I wonder if there were slight variations in certain models.

    • @HI-FI_
      @HI-FI_  Год назад +1

      So a little update, I was talking this saw apart to grease it and I had plugged it in without the front cover on to move the grease around (stupid idea). I had just barely pushed the trigger and I’m not sure why, it flung the blade and knob assembly across the garage. Unfortunately some of the locking positions broke off, so now it can only be locked straight, (not to the left right or reverse). However, now the locking lever works properly. So, by breaking one thing I fixed another. Not a big deal for me though, as I typically use the saw unlocked anyway and if it is, it would be locked in the straight forward position.

    Just picked one up today off of Craigslist to made the rough shape of some wooden hands holding up a peace sign and find it very useful cutting out the fingers without having to spin my whole body around, like your word with a regular jigsaw.

      Good to know, I find it funny that they are producing t shank recip saw blades so you can just put a 6” blade on any jig or sabre saw.

    • @chrismoe4120

      The speed setting is on the back of it usually. Should be a little red wheel with a line through it with a number eye hole to let you see numbers for a variable speed.

    I think they were made by skill for Sears Craftsman under contract ..I have seen skill jigsaws USA like this one look just like this one a few different tweaks ... I think it was because the design was a Sears patent but the rest of the case and everything was all skill ... I could be wrong I know I own since 1991 a Craftsman industrial reciprocating saw made by black and Decker that's true for a fact they also used the same design specifications on a DeWalt version in 92 of course Black & Decker have their own brand the same design under the professional line

    • @HI-FI_
      @HI-FI_  Год назад

      I personally haven’t seen any skil jigsaws that look like the one here but I can’t say that the didn’t make it either because I don’t know. I know some of their tools were made by Emerson so they could be a possible candidate, but then again Sears had many companies make tools for them.
