Have heard this story before. They were told it was safe, however the canyon where a lot of the filming took place was a box canyon. The wind blew the radioactive dust in and it stayed. They even had a geiger counter that was just clicking away. They were like naw it's ok they said so. The people at the testing site/government said so. 200 hundred some cast and crew. Over 90 contracted cancers, and over 40 died from cancer. The town people were told it was safe. They would even drive out to watch the bomb tests. But residents said you could sweep up dust after the tests took place. That blew in from guess where? I also read that in early years they believed that radioactivity couldn't turn corners, so bomb shelters were built with passage ways that had corners to turn. They have learned more information since then. Thankfully l hope.
I loved that film people have their bias it was a fine film.i don't care what others think of the film.ots only when people died that became their opinions.❤
I saw it as a kid and the movie is so bad it is actually hysterically funny to watch. That's probably why it isn't available but it did periodically pop up on TV back in the '60s when stations needed something as a filler after the Johnny Carson show ended at midnight. With this documentary coming out it may come back on the market.
At about the 46 second mark they show children on a playground. Anyone know where this was taken? What year? This movie was made in 1954. The girl w/ short dark hair looks like my older sister who has since passed.
Big name cast. Bodacious soundtrack and scenery. As for the preposterous dialogue... I've listened to almost as egregious on sections of Star Wars. I just shift my brain in neutral

I live in St George. What is the radiation level now?
Glow in the dark level? Those aren't lightning bugs....
I love this movie.
I searched and it says not available on any digital or on demand service at this time.

I meant I searched for the new documentary. But yeah, I'm sure the actual movie is super bad.

the movie was filmed in 1954 in st.george arizona, which as the film myth suggested, it was a former nuclear weapons test site
Anyone know where I can watch this?

The Wrath of Khan.
I can't wait to see this.
Anyone who calls "The Conqueror" the worst film of all time clearly hasn't seen "Midsommar" -
Hercules in New York?
@@jaserand6001 You... may have a point, there.
This is worse!
The more you watch the movie, the more it grows on you. It's not a bad movie. Miscast...yes, but enjoyable nonetheless
This looks amazing. I can't stand John Wayne, but I will watch this documentary.
