Definitely the whole "Virgin" talk, which went over my head as a child, but is now more awkwardly apparent!
lol 😂 I love the virgin
Oh cmon this movie did for halloween what home alone did for christmas
I think I was a teenager when I saw this movie for the first time. By then I knew what a virgin was.
Absolutely loved the 'young' Winnie, what a fantastic actress
One of the best parts of the sequel was Gilbert awkwardly struggling to explain what a virgin was to a young boy. I always wondered why they made a big deal over Max's lack of experience, when he's only 15 or 16.
yessss! i loved that part. and i think they only said virgin like twice in the reboot?
Than max was in bed 🛌
It reminded me of Elizabeth McGovern explaining the meaning to a kindergarten student after the story of the Virgin Mary to her kindergarten class in the brat pack movie, "About Last Night."
The first movie was surprisingly dark, with a little girl being killed onscreen within the first few minutes, a cat being run over by a bus, tons of boobs jokes, and gags about Max's lack of "experience."
I’m not an adult, but even some of those things I realized 😂 overall it’s just such a great franchise that is just so awesome with such talented actors. Great video!
Since when do they not eat children? Lines like Mary referring to Dani as shish kebaby in the original as well as them wanting her to stay for dinner made me always assume they literally ate children outside of feeding on their souls via the life potion.
I assumed the reason why Binx was able to talk was when the sisters came back to life.
makes sense
That's always what I thought
It makes sense
Something tells me Binx(as a cat) was able to speak like a human again due to Max resurrecting the Sanderson sisters via the Black Flame candle. It's the only other explanation.
The other explanation is that Binx had 300 years of life to learn how to speak.
@@cjmiller6741 300 years to regain human speech from meowing all the time? Damn. Winifred really cursed Binx with a fate worse than death.
That or one part of her spell was undone.
@@Heraldo_Del_Mar or maybe immediately after the spell, Binx was in a state of shock, but recovered, always having the power of speech, since his voice is the same(though I think dubbed by another actor than the boy who played his human form)
@@cjmiller6741 Yeah, it was another actor who voices Binx as a cat.
A state of shock would also be the case as to how he was able to talk again.
I did not see the Original Hocus Pocus film until 2018 so I was able to appreciate the adult jokes when watching it.
I feel like it was not fair that Max Dani and Alison were not seen in Hocus Pocus 2. They should have been at least mentioned. It would have been nice to find out what happened to them at the end of the 1st movie. Still enjoyed the sequel though.
Probably skipped down and moved to the north pole
It's a rumor that Max and Allison had a son in the second one. I think it was Mike that was his name.
People commenting on Max’s Virginity sounds hilarious as a child but get weird pretty quickly as an adult.
Precisely, they likely got away with it because most kids watching wouldn't even know what a virgin was, and the reference would slip right over their heads.
@@trinaq I thought it was his zodiac sign
Gonna be honest 5 year old me watching the movie for the 1st time with the adults treating him like an idiot thought that thought that was what Virgin meant
No it doesn't. An adult with hang-ups, maybe, who should read a manual about how to discuss biology with their children. If anything, that point normalizes virginity in a time when teen idols, make and female, were being hyper-sexualized in teen magazines and music video.
You know, I think sometimes kids can be more intelligent and mature about these things than their parents. Probably because parents never really like for their babies to grow up...hahaha.
I actually got one: When Winifred starts singing "I Put A Spell On You", she says the line, "Hello Salem! My name's Winifred! What's yours?!" The same year Hocus Pocus was released, Bette Midler stared in a TV movie of the musical Gypsy where that line, "Hello everybody! My name's June! What's yours?!", originated.
My name's Rose. What's yours...but this was well documented nod. (They weren't called Easter eggs, yet. In fact, Easter eggs were first only hidden items to click on the menus if games and disks to find hidden features.)
@@cjmiller6741 I admit I meant to put that line in my first comment but I immediately went to Rose's daughter June, later Louise, since it's her line for Let Me Entertain You. Thanks for noting.
@@emilyholasek63 I actually watched the TV movie. It was great.
"No I woudln'tst" always makes me laugh
Please don't try to say that kids were that innocent in the 90s.
did this get hit with a copyright strike? i cant view it.
This is a halloween classic, and with this top i felt it's legacy was perfectly honored. So, happy tuesday to You Ms Mojo, and i hope i see You soon for more tops like this, take care and God bless You.
About Binx, most likely he could talk the whole time, he was just in shock. If he spoke in his time they would consider him a demon.
Love the first movie over the 2nd. Wish they had an a cd of the original movies songs.
Pls fix video i only see the thumbnail and hear audio
Is anyone else's video stuck on the thumbnail?
Yes and I tried to go to the fb page to see if this one is on there but nope. Would love to see the real video
Same I thought it was my phone so I restarted it. Glad to know it is not just me
same
I hypothesis that the Sanderson sisters were executed for murder rather than witchcraft. Because you watch the film, the towns people would have discovered the remains of Emily in their home and Zachary missing presumed murdered. So, its logical that they were hung for Emily's murder. Murder in 1693 just like many places today is a capital offence. Back in 1693 courts went a lot faster. Also, if they were caught for witchcraft rather than murder it'll be a lot more gory and a lot longer to their execution. As it was the main goal in the witch hunts to find other witches. So, if they were caught for witchcraft they would have been stripped, searched, imprisoned, tortured and if convicted hung, burnt or crushed to death. The Sanderson sisters wouldn't look that good at their execution if that was the case. Also, you say it was shocking that a 16 year old was engaged to be married. In the 1600's and earlier 16 for girls was actually quite late to get married. It was common for girls to marry as young as 11 years of age. The age back then for girls to marry was 11 to 14. If they were royal they could be even younger as they could get married as young as 3 years old. So, considering the time period more wondering reverend was looking to marry off of Winny. No doubt that he was doing the same with Mary and Sarah. Different time, different cultures.
Very very great list I like it a lot very great job mis mojo one of my absolute favorite list ever 💗
When the witches died in 1993, Billy Butcherson did not die meaning he remained awake in his grave for the last 29 years. In the end of Hocus Pocus 2 he does die
That bus driver wanted to get it on with the Sandersons.
well it seems like im not the only one having trouble viewing this video and its the only video that i can't view either. its not working on my phone or computer.
Is anyone else having trouble viewing this video? I tried on my computer and now my phone and it's only playing audio on my phone??
I am just getting the audio as well. 🤷♀️
I am using the app, and all I get is audio
@@gluna777 I'm glad that it's not only me
We're looking into this issue!
Seriously, I knew what "virgin" meant from my fundamental baptist background from the time I have memories. I never understood why that was such a shocker.
I knew what it was as a 6 year old. I knew too much.
Did anyone else's video just the thumbnails?
Yeah 🤔
Do we know what that's about? It's maddening 😬
She also wouldn't know what a driver's license is
well not for me as being into history, 16 years old was the equivalent to 18 years old which considers you are of adult age, so back in that time it was just consiter the norm, but for anyone who didn't know that part of history that's where you get the surpise factor.
Bus driver wants kids with Winnie and those witches lol 😂
well in the deleted scene to the first one Mary was eating things she thought we’re made out of babies ha ha and yep it was possibly that Binx couldn’t talk until the candle was lit
This list will most likely have the “We desire children” joke from the 1st movie.😁
Edit: HOLY SMOKES! I wrote this comment before 05:07!!! 😂
Can't play this vid . . . It says “We’re processing this video. Check back later.” Does anyone else get that message or is it just me … I checked both on my phone 📱 & on my laptop 💻 & nothing … ☹
Yes! Someone else is having this issue, not just me …
What Web Browser is everybody using?
This is the first ever video that I can't get to play, and it keeps telling me to use another browser. I'm using Google Chrome, which should work for anything RUclips.
Or, is it the uploader? Is it only an Apple iOS format? Because every Pretentious person I know of has to have everything Apple.
Didn't work on Safari either.
I don’t know what is going on it keeps saying. We’re processing this video. Check back later. I wonder what is going on with this video but I can’t even play it
I am using the RUclips app
Android YT app and no video, only audio and thumbnail
Married at 16? Not so young back in those days.
EDIT: I wasn't a kid (agewise, at least) when Hocus Pocus was released. Both "We desire children" and the virgin running gag were... Let's just say that plenty slipped in under the radar that I noticed.
Talking Binz: didn't he tell the teens that he learned to talk during the intervening 300 years?
I was so looking forward and hoping to love this movie. I did not, and think they guaged it to the wrong audience.
Amazing
Fun fact I can lit the black candle….. lol
The word Virgin was mentioned 9 times in the 1993 movie
Binx could only speak because max lit the candle
Burh hocus pocus came out in 1993. 29 years later a sequel comes out
houcs poucs is so amazing
What was morbid photoshoot about? I didn't get it.
Number 3 - it's not called easter eggs here it's candy bags
quite odd. I"m using Chrome and its telling me this browser cannot play your video. All other videos play just fine.
Has this been taken down?
It's the only video I can't play and has the message "your browser can't play this video."
Yesterday when I tried to play this video all I got was dialog. The picture just showed the thumbnail
I am having major playback issues. I can hear the audio but it's just constantly the thumbnail. And it only plays on my phone.
I can’t even watch the video it keeps saying we’re processing the video
@@MegaAlexis92 Hopefully they'll get it fixed.
They feed on children's breath,and or souls.I think.I'm unsure.😲I want to see the sequel.🙂
I remember watching this movie when I was a kid, I asked my father what a virgin was.
Virgin means blood that hasn't been used in a ritual yet. Not what people think now a-days.
Wouldn’t that have made the overwhelming majority of people virgins, then? It’s likely the word virgin did carry the connotation of a lack of sexual experience in the film because virginity (meaning never having been known in the “biblical” sense) was historically and in folklore equated with spiritual purity. If someone who is capable of sex has not crossed that boundary, this was thought of as being able to make their soul stronger-like in the movie “The Wicker Man” where the virginity of the main character, a grown man, makes him the perfect human sacrifice.
Ironically, this same “purity” and “strength of the soul” can be used by evil to make evil more powerful-especially if the evil is able to destroy someone who has these qualities. It took the power of a virgin, a “pure” body, to resurrect the witches. A strong good used for the advantage of a strong evil-which is very interesting.
When I was little I thought they talked about the zodiac sign, 'cause my zodiac sign is Virgin, and I thought: "Wow, I could have woken up the sisters, too!". I had no questions, I never asked my parents "What is a virgin?" 'cause I thought about the zodiac sign. So they never were imbarassed to explined that, ahahah!
Can’t watch this. Not happy
My favorite still has to be the first
He did it on purpose. Lol. Love this movie . . 🙏
yabos
I can't watch it. "Your browser can't play this video. Learn more". Both Chrome and Edge do this.
Same here.

I don’t get it
October 18 anniversary of Disney animated movie the jungle book
dunno about the rest of the world, but japan married of at 14 in the sengoku era
What the heck all I see is stuck on one picture this is going to be fixed at some point all am seeing on my iPhone were processing this video. Check back later what the Hecks going on? 🤨
Yeah, that's what I thought yesterday. Started my queue back up for the day and it's still thumbnail and audio only. Android YT app here
The characters of Hocus Pocus know what a Virgin is….but they can’t define or say what it means due to censorship & it’s a Disney family movie of course. Why not? It’s Disney. Lol 😅 Even though they say it means a person who never lit a candle, they never explain what it truly means for real.
Only one very young character in the sequel asked, and that was just to set up a joke. But all the other characters, especially in the first movie, are old enough to understand basic reproductive anatomy. Don't forget Dani teasing Max about nearly dry humping his pillow in the first movie, pretending it was Alison. Dani tells Alison that Max loves her (yabbos)
The real success of the first movie, a theatrical release, that does ets a little diluted in the sequel, is that it never is patronizing to the children or the teens, and the interactions are realistic. These are the crazy conversations the kids I grew up with had as we were starting to be aware of human sexuality.
Video won't play for me ☹
We are looking into this!
It would have been better with scenes.
As an lgbt person I never heard of the community particularly glorifying this franchise 💁♂️ maybe it’s just a US thing
And th are is a 3 coming. Haven't seen 2 yet my grandchildren. Have though.
Being married at 16 is only appalling to those who are not with the one they truly are meant to be with. My true love appeared to me when I was 16. We began our family when I was 17, it's been 30 years this past June. It can work if you want it too.
Why can’t I watch the video
Marriage at 16 was normal in the 1600’s unfortunately
my grandmother married at 16 in 1972 so yep.
Very. Sad to say but it was normal for parents to try to marry their kids off at 16 unfortunately.
My grandma married at 17
Jay and ice died
Nobody loves ice and jay
The virgin thing
First,,,
✅
nah.i got the virgin jab as a kid
I missed this movie, because the three seemed to have so chemistry with each other. They seem over the top and awkward, trying way too hard for laughs and sarcasm. It's all just really odd, since separately, the actors are very talented. In this film, they're so horribly bad. Acting and their parts...
Seriously?? Virginity isn’t a “social construct”
Believe it or not but yes virginity is a social construct and a outdated one-
Was Hocus Pocus the first movie to show a hanging in a "kids" film? 🪢
Also a simpler time when asking a kid why he's still a virgin was somewhat ok but now seen as Sus! Also another person who was Sus was the bus driver in the first movie! 🧐
I dunno... when did Disney's Tarzan come out? The villain hung in that one. That one was probably a bit more shocking because of the fast paced drama of the moment but showed just as much (little) to catch the idea of what happened.
@@KaitLynnHt Tarzan was 1999
@@TheWinstonSlip Thanks. Still probably not the first, there's been quite a few dark kids movies... but it's the first thing that popped in my head at the mention of a hanging death in one. And I was 17 or 18 when that came out. Still seared into my brain as one of the darker Disney villain deaths.
