  • The transition zone is an area of the court that you will have to contend with on virtually every point because, unless you're the returner's partner on a particular point, you're starting the point from back at the baseline, so you will have to navigate the transition zone in order to get to the most desirable area of the court which is up at the net. Yet, very few are comfortable digging out shots from the transition zone. They may get caught there on their way up to the net or they get pushed off the NVZ line and once that happens, it’s often all downhill from there. Getting comfortable in the transition is a skill you will want to develop because if it doesn’t phase you to dig shots out from there then you will be a total nightmare for your opponents. You will frustrate the heck out them as you steal points from right out under their nose. Watch the video to learn more about how to get better from the tricky transition zone.

    Another excellent tutorial Nicole. I would add 1 other thing: more than any other shot, it is critical to keep eyes on the ball, easy to neglect as the ball is at your feet

    We use this game a lot when drilling. But have changed the scoring to reflect the difficulty of staying ahead and maintaining that lead. And the difficulty of being behind and trying to stay in the point to close the lead. This is where the mental aspect of the game can be won or lost.

    Good video. Nicole, you used to have a chart about resets. What to do if ball goes to far or hits net, etc. I can't find it!

    What is a reset shot???

    • @primetimepickleball
      @primetimepickleball  2 года назад +2

      A reset shot is a soft shot you attempt to drop in the kitchen when you have been attacked. It's wise to choose a reset shot instead of a counterattack when you have a low contact. Essentially you are attempting to "reset" the point back to neutral because right now you are on defense.

    Love this tip! I find myself like a deer in headlights until I can get to the kitchen

      You are not alone! Many players feel that way. Get comfy in that transition zone with your drops and resets. Spend lots of practice time there. Like maybe even to the exclusion of everything else for some time. It’s a game changer!
