Thank you. I wish I would have watched this long ago as I am sure it would have prevented my tennis elbow from too tight a grip and not using body and shoulders for the swing. Appreciate your instructions.
Great job on the video Jordan. You break all these techniques down so they are easy to understand and follow. Keep up the good work. I know your videos make better pickleball players out of all who follow you.
As a former tennis player and coach, I must congratulate you on this very informative Pickleball class on techniques. Well done and keep the instructions coming. Congratulations.
I really like your videos Jordan, I've watched some other videos online but get the most value from you and your teaching style. Your videos are so good showing what is wrong and what is right. I'm new to Pickleball and learning on the court and taking a lot of your advice back with me and I can see my game improving. Thanks...I will continue to follow you.
Hey Jordan! I love watching your videos. Very well done and informative. Your content and delivery are spot on. I've been teaching pickleball since 1980 in El Paso, Texas and appreciate a good teacher/coach who can explain and demonstrate the skills and strategy effectively. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much for your detailed technique. so easy to understand and to practice .All of your videos are very valuable .with Appreciation and Gratitude
I reall like that phrase "Kinetic Chain" - I think you should think about coining that - i.e. The Dynamic Kinetic Chain" Method...? Very good video - so much information is a short period of time.
Thank you Jordan. I am 2 years in on my pickleball life and have had to work on several of these issues. I was too wristy on dinks. Poor shoulder turn on ground strokes. Wrist not laid back(my old sports are squash and badminton, no tennis). I improved all of these but sometimes regress to my old habits, so having this video is helpful to be mindful of what might be causing a new problem that pops up for me. thanks. If you don't mind saying, where are you in this video? I recognize the Concord location when you are there, but I don't know this one. Maybe you are at a tournament somewhere. Thank you
Can you do a video for tennis players making the transition? Top 10 things that doesn’t translate from tennis… 10 things that does translate? I’ve just made the transition and I’m realizing that it is a totally a different sport. It seems like that mistakes are amplified in PB (especially in singles). Love to hear what you have to offer.
Focusing on having a laid back wrist made a huge improvement in my dinking and overall shot mechanics. You covered it really well in a previous video. Great Job.
Thank you very much. Another great video. I put this one to the side to view when I start playing again, which will be soon in Oregon, maybe Friday. As a note. I saw this at the beginning of the video and previous videos and would suggest that when you are instructing us, do not have your assistant in view. He/she can be distracting. :)
Hey :) Just a suggestion. Maybe try formatting the "wrong" versions as black-white video? Color would be a better (faster, clearer) visual que, letting me know where my attnetion should be. As it is, I miss the first vew seconds trying to figure out what is what. CHeers, M
You say “loose grip” I’ve been working on a very tight grip as I’ve had many mis-hits due to the paddle spinning in my hand. Maybe if I did the other items correct I wouldn’t need a tight grip? Or Maybe I need a different size grip on my paddle?
hard to say without seeing it. Grip on the looser side when you're hitting a swinging shot. when dinking a bit firmer and when blocking a bit firmer than that...roughly.
if your contact point is late, it usually mean's your timing in general is late, ideally you want a swing that when super early you hit extreme crosscourt, with proper timing you hit down the middle and with late timing you hit down the line. If you practice hitting the ball cross court, you should start hitting the ball earlier.
Try without a paddle tossing the ball over the net bending your knees and all trying to hit a target. Usually when tossing, your release point is out in front of you and having more of a stable wrist. You’ll notice when tossing you’re not turning your wrist in like when pointing the top of paddle straight down. And if you if have someone returning the ball back to from tossing it, catch the ball out in front of you. Always seeing the ball out in front will help with muscle memory, visually and physically. Remember though muscle memory can take somewhere between 1000 to 10 000 reps especially to break bad habits. Once you feel comfortable put the paddle back in your hand and hit the ball as if your tossing it. I’m assuming you’re using the continental grip. We do this drill for beginner tennis lessons to develop a contact point out in front and to help keep the wrist from flopping around. Be relaxed, hopefully this might help your problem.
Jordan, you do it perfectly. But on #8 + #9, with the forehand. You didn't say anything about the "fellow through". We can see you doing it. Oh and still like that water heater.
Your video was helpful, but your advice on #2 (too much wrist) and #8 (wrist too rigid) seems contradictory. I guess it’s a matter of stable but not rigid, loose but not too loose.
Non volley zone. The zone from the net to 7 feet away from the net on each side. can't step into that zone and take the ball out of the air (as a volley). unique rule to pickleball that makes it so fun.
Great video with examples of both good and bad form on a number of strokes However, I think it is important in each video not to assume players watching know that the continental grip is the one most recommended. Seems like many players do not use this grip . Your instruction clearly shows why this grip is so effective , but I think you need to verbalize it more..
After the return, I do my best to get all the way up to the NVZ. Maybe you are referring to when I am coming up to the NVZ after I hit my 3rd shot drop? In that case, it may take me a shot or two to get up to that NVZ line.
I think it would be better to show correct way to do something then show wrong way because as a beginner I don’t know the difference. It enforces the correct way to play.
The side-by-side comparisons are fantastic. Thanks for a great video. One of the best I’ve seen.
Thank you! We work hard in post production. Glad it shines through 😁
Thank you. I wish I would have watched this long ago as I am sure it would have prevented my tennis elbow from too tight a grip and not using body and shoulders for the swing. Appreciate your instructions.
Thanks! As long as you can still play it's never too late to change. :)
Great job on the video Jordan. You break all these techniques down so they are easy to understand and follow. Keep up the good work. I know your videos make better pickleball players out of all who follow you.
Awesome Ed! Thanks!
Oh my gosh, I now know why I haven’t been able to hit a backhand volley ... because I was using my forehand!! Thank you so much!!!!!!
😁

Love, love the education. Thanks for making yourself accessible to us beginner types.

Thank you sir. Basic fundamentals. Keeps bad habits at bay that prevents your game from improving. Great stuff!
Thanks Dave!

Super helpful video, especially the side-by-side examples!
Glad you found it helpful JoEllen!

We may be working on something like this!
These were great tips. Ty so much.
Thanks! Glad you liked them.

Awesome!
Your explanations are so clear. Thanks so much
You’re welcome!
Really great info and I loved how you demonstrated! Super helpful.
Thanks! 😊
Excellent visuals here. In thhe beginning of all your videos It is always good to remind viewers the recommended continental grip and why.
👍🏻

This is a fabulous video! Thanks a bunch!! Detail….there are 10 items in your list but the title says 9!
Glad you enjoyed it. This one has 10. We have another video we’re there is 9 tips.
@@primetimepickleball So…you might want to change the title and the recap at the end to say 10 instead of 9!

There has been some "buzz" about a top pro who uses an oversized grip for better control. What are your thoughts about making your grip larger?
I think that’s just preference. I like mine a little bit bigger so I add an over grip.
@@primetimepickleball Jordan, do you feel the larger grip gives you more control or allows for softer grip pressure?
Looking forward to it!
You say “loose grip” I’ve been working on a very tight grip as I’ve had many mis-hits due to the paddle spinning in my hand.

@@primetimepickleball thanks for your reply! Really enjoying your videos. It’s a lot of work.
Any good drills for improving
1. Paddle Head Pointing down
2. Late Contact Point

Both suggestions above were great. Keep drilling!
Been only able to hit balls from my machine during the court lockdown. Great time to drill.
👍🏻
Jordan, what is the small net you use to keep your Pickleballs in your court?
I wish I was the one who came up with it! I’m not sure!
I make all of these mistakes 😳
Get to work on fixes. You've got this!
Jordan, you do it perfectly. But on #8 + #9, with the forehand. You didn't say anything about the "fellow through". We can see you doing it. Oh and still like that water heater.
Yes, follow through this key.
Thanks good export
👍🏻👍🏻
Does Jordan give lessons
Yes, please see brionespickleball.com
Your video was helpful, but your advice on #2 (too much wrist) and #8 (wrist too rigid) seems contradictory. I guess it’s a matter of stable but not rigid, loose but not too loose.
Don’t flick and don’t death grip is basically what we’re saying.
what is NVZ?
Non volley zone. The zone from the net to 7 feet away from the net on each side. can't step into that zone and take the ball out of the air (as a volley). unique rule to pickleball that makes it so fun.

We will probably do a video on grips soon...
Jordan question. Why don’t you get up to the Kitchen after your first return. ? Why is it a step up at a time after your return? Enjoy your videos

the correct way is also shown.

Only one thing.
