It makes sense, dungeon master in a game is supposed to know all. Lisa is pretty experienced in anime, she's the voice for Lina Inverseverse in Slayers. Been doing anime since at least 96.
Fun fact, the voice director Lisa has voiced characters and Pokémon like Korrina, Mars, Flannery, Ash's Oshawott, and Ash's Naganadel! Thoroughly enjoyed seeing the whole process. And extremely well spoken at the end! You're not offending the original actor, you're enhancing their performance by bridging the gap closer so that more people can understand what's happening. Like she said, it also helps others pick up a new language. Tomáš Masaryk once said, "As many languages you know, as many times you are a human being"

I’d imagine how difficult it would be to create dialogue for these characters in English since it was originally aired in Japanese. The voice actors would have to read lines that match the movements of the characters lips and the dialogue would have to remain relevant to the subject.

people usually have to go to voice acting school and get licensed pretty much
I think voice acting for anime or dubbed media is harder than voicing for the vanilla project.
In the English versions of Disney movies and stuff, the actors don't have to sync their voices up to the mouth movements. The mouth movements are animated to the actor's voices instead.
However, in the dubbed versions, the actors have to speak in time with the animation instead, which is probably much harder.

I've waited all my life for behind the scenes of Pokemon voice actors. This is surprisingly well done! I love how Sarah gave us a fun fact at the end and we can all agree that dubbing someone's show isn't a disrespect to the original voice actors.

This voice actor is incredible and her director is extremely impressive, as well. To have the vision for the scene and be able to communicate it to the artist, and then for the artist to bring it to life is truly outstanding.
And the director is hot as balls.
Not extremely extremely impressive because can tell it is her voice and extremely impressive voice actors you can't tell it is their voice. Higher voiced people typically have this problem.
It should be a guy instead. Look at the Indian language dubs. A guy is doing it and sounds way better.

@@nicane-9966 there's a difference between a prepubescent child and a teenager. Ash Ketchum is pretty much a teenager and not a child. He's level headed and acts a lot more mature. He should be voiced by a guy and not a woman. Explain to me why Gary oak, Paul and trip were voiced by guys but not ash. Also have you not listened to the Indian dubs especially the Tamil dub. Kathir gani Khan (s1-s10, s17) and sai abhijith (s11-present) sound way better.
I never knew or appreciated how complex the entire process of reinterpreting and voicing the translation. Absolutely incredible team.

Most of the dubs legit suck tho. There are some that are good, like shaman King, or dragon ball, but vast majority legit sucks compared to sub.

Most dubs are trash and have annoying af voices - especially if you're not 'Murican. DBZ is one of the rare occurrences where it's actually the other way around.
It is difficult to make a good dub, thats why I usually watch sub. There are a few dubs I like such as kill la kill and code geass
Wow this is art, I remember watching Pokemon when I was kid and it helped me learn to understand English better than my college or school ever did.
Honestly with the way Sarah has grown both as an actor and along side the anime ( at this point she’s been doing it longer than the first ) I think she’s a better fit for the anime currently.
She’s gotten so much needless, very personal hate over this one role for years. She never quit. Instead she has turned her platform into a great cause with Voices for Fosters a la Litten’s story and she’s made the role completely her own now. She deserves respect and recognition.

I started watching dub more because its hard for me to focus and honestly it was terrible at first but i got used to it
I have never watched Pokemon in the english dub since their adventures in Hoenn. I prefer the original dub in japanese. I’m more familiar with the characters and pokemons’ names in Japanese which is weird when I engage a conversation with someone about pokemon.

Ok, to everyone who is surprised that Ash's voice is made by a woman, in animation, most of the time, kids voices are made by females, due to male's voices being USUALLY way too deep to make it sound good.
Indeed. The Norwegian dub has him voiced by a man and it's... *very* obvious that it's not a kid's voice. I mean *as* a kid I didn't really question it, and I've seen enough examples of kids with obviously adult voices that it doesn't sound *that* off to me... but both Sarah Natochenny, Veronica Taylor and Rica Matsumoto are just... *so* much more convincingly boyish despite obviously not being boys. (Though Veronica Taylor's earliest performances where she *was* trying to make her voice deeper to sound more like a boy... Yeah that was rough.)
@@thelordstarfish Yea her first season as Ash if I remember correctly was the Battle Frontier arc and I remember as a kid wondering if Ash caught a cold or something lol.
@@TaqSoto I said Veronica Taylor, the *first* English Ash voice. Go back and watch some of the very earliest episodes of the series. She's very clearly putting on a more "masculine" voice, and it sounds really awkward. Her performance became infinitely more natural as she toned that down.

Most of pre teen and teen characters in anime and cartoons are voiced by women.....
There isn't much of a difference in pitch if you compare a woman to a child, because they had no significant voice drop. They only sound different, because of the way they talk.

Voice actors are often so underrated even though it's a hard job. I'm so impressed that so many people have so interesting voices and the talent to give their voices to those characters.
