7:58 I feel like Test of Talents is kind of a big brain include in a format that's so heavy on counter magic. A two-mana hard counter that will almost always have a target and lets you peek at the hand is pretty neat
Also hitting instants and sorceries is actually like, sorta rare for a counterspell on arena. Card's really not that bad.
The Jodah and Bolas games were some of the best games of magic I've ever seen, including on your channel. Very cool

The only other time I've seen Test of Talents in Historic Brawl was when I tried a Dragon's Approach deck. I just sat stunned until my rope started. I didn't win that game

That last game was such a standard Izzet win, honestly. Getting punched down on the whole game, then snagging it with a series of powerful spells and storm shenanigans.
galazeth prismari is really good in this deck, especially your list that has all the treasure making instants n sorceries. the fact galazeth lets u tap the treasures n not sac them for instants and sorceries adds another pop-off angle.

I dont play Magic, Arena or otherwise*, but I’m always surprised when people scoop after one small setback. A loss is a loss, surely play it out and seen if you can claw back the W? CGB the perfect example of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat in the last game there. Must feel much better than conceding after a turn 3 commander counter or whatever. Worst comes to worst, you get to see your opponent pull some mad 10 minute turn, and even that’s kinda fun?

Very well said! Some much better magic players than I have said as much and I've finally started to listen. There are so many premature snap concedes in tilt in arena, it's ridiculous. I used to do it too much myself. Sometimes you don't want to waste time, but most of the time it's not the right move to quit!
Even if you think you’re gunna lose; as CGB himself says, make them have it!

I’d argue that test of talents isn’t necessarily a bad card in historic brawl. It’s still a 2 mana counter instant or sorcery that also gets you a full look at every card your opponent has. Information is value and there will often be a target for the spell.

I don't know if you've done this yet, but i'd love to see a Raff Capashen, SHip's Mage control deck. It allows you to hold up mana for counterspells or removal, and if you dont need to use any, you can instead ccast powerful legendary creatures like urza or powerful artiacts or even just mana rocks
I made this deck when brawl was a 60 singleton standard formal. My friends hated it lol

I don't think I could ever have the mental capacity to pilot a deck like that, goodness gracious.
I use the kaya draft enchantment in my vadrik deck. It essentially almost always gives you an option to x spell. Super good for finishing games.
YES. This is my favorite deck to play! I have a few versions, my strongest version heavily focuses on boosting his power, like 15 pump spells. I have many cheap counterspells, and often you can wait a turn, play him and then counter the removal, popoff when you untap. This works shockingly well for me. I win much more with the full YOLO build+counterspells. I've tried doing 0/minimal pump spells and so often I lose games because I dont have them to popoff.

I guess Test of Talents isn’t totally useless in brawl, you get hand information and can shuffle the opponent’s deck.

I think maybe shaving 3 or 4 lands might be optimal but I love geist wave I also use riptide lab and have added dig
has anyone cheering for how fun this deck ever played against it? 90% ppl scoop the minute they see you're playing a turns deck bc no one cares to see you scratch your head over which draw spells you want to fumble through for the next 30 min lol.
it was fun to watch the nail-biter matches but any sane opponent would scoop immediately to chaining turns and move on.

Test of Talents is good bc it is basically a swan song that looks at the opponent's hand and deck.
I wold definitely tutor a thought distorsion against vadrik if I was that opponent...
I put things like akki war paint in my vadrik deck for more power for vadrick
Couldn't you Dual Strike a cleaved Alchemists Gambit since its mana value is still 3?
I really like izzet storm decks, seem to win out of nowhere, big spells big damage. Just the way magic is supposed to be.
izzet spells is so much fun, i usually end up running it with some of the big dumb enchantments like thousand year storm
but i hate paradox engine

How does copying Alchemist’s Gambit work? If you pay the cleave cost, are the copies also cast that way? I’m always worried that copies will not be the cleave version of the spell.
