Historic Brawl is growing on me a lot. I was playing it last night, and trapped a Lagrella in exile to their own Mirror of Life Trapping. Reminds me of things that actually happen in commander

I'm agree with you, Historic Brawl should be a better format without Dark Ritual, Wash Away & Paradox Engine. I really also want Winota (the OG version) to be back to have a tiers-one aggro deck. But all things consider, I think HB need a shake-up (from queues to banlist), and Rusko should be the wake-up call

I don't know if it's viable but since this deck produces a lot of Midnight Clocks, it could be neat to run a Dream Devourer and a Cosmos Charger so you can instant speed exile your hand to Foretell and draw a fresh 7 which makes it pure card advantage. Probably not good but seems like it would be a lot of fun.
Feels a bit winmore imo, but awesome card interaction
Getting that specific combo is pretty unlikely, but yeah it can certainly be decent to use cards which can sit in exile and are thus not shuffled away by the clock. Saw It Coming is probably the best of these, as an unconditional hard counter can answer almost anything that has not yet resolved. Behold the Multiverse, Depart the Realm and Poison the Cup are also worth considering.
My 25-9 list is running Saw it Coming and Poison the Cup, but honestly, they might as well be cancel and murder most of the time. I think I've foretold PtC twice and only once had it as an extra card after midnight. The mechanic that I've leaned into a bit as a reasonable subtheme is surveil. Since the errata, there's a good number of cards now to trigger Disinformation Campaign that you might run anyway, and Search for Azcanta + Disinformation Campaign is pretty filthy when you are grinding.
its easy to explain how good it is - its a 3/3 for 4 that makes another 3 mana enchantment and has massive upside - seems pretty straight forward XD

How are you going to run Karn without silly sideboard shenanigans to go fetch? Liquidmetal coating, some graveyard hate, equipment, something for zero, and creatures at least.

Personally, I like that you own your mistakes. There is nothing more validating than seeing how human an influencer. I find it most welcoming; not a negative at all. I see your face was rather disappointed in your move, but I wanted to acknowledge your validity. I've been playing since, what, '97 and watching your videos has made me a better player overall. Keep up the great work!
On the second opponent, he says "Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh with Slivers is strange". I immediately looked at the opponent's name to see if it was mine. It wasn't. I just played my Sliver Brawl deck less than an hour ago for the first time in months and was like, "Nicol Bolas, God-Pharoah in a Sliver deck ... why did I put this in here?" On the other hand, it worked really well.
They should do a week long event mode where those three cards are banned as a way of play testing to see how much it would change the format

I think if the commander required being cast to get the ETB trigger then I think it would really help to power the deck down since blinking him would no longer have any effect. I've seen WOTC rebalance Agent of Treachery so that the ETB ONLY works when you cast him.

This is a fun commander. Kinda wish I could have it in paper.
I rarely play Arena anymore but I randomly signed on the other day, pulled this card in a free pack, threw together a deck and hopped into a match. It felt very good right off the bat and I won after drawing a million cards and my opponent scooped from all the cards advantage I had. Of note, I do not have paradox engine in my list.
This is actually one of the "easier to do in paper" cards of alchemy. All it takes to turn this into a paper card is to say that it'd create a "Midnight Clock" token or a copy of that card (since copies of permanents are inherently tokens). We already have such cards in paper like "Garth, One-Eye"
i watched this one from stream, this looked like so much fun to play. like i could tell the opponents didnt realize what was happening until it was all over haha

I wish Rusko was real and playable in commander. imagine the evil fun you could have. I am a control player at heart so this commander would be my favorite.
the week my buddy and i saw this commander, we knew that the algorithm needs to be updated more and more. it's getting paired up way too often with the commanders we aim for to get out of the hell queue. it's insane. most powerful commander in the format

I really hope they end up banning Paradox Engine. I know there's ways to combat it but it's just so boring seeing so many "new" commanders all just finding different ways to gain access to this combo. It's beyond played out.
I've been using rusko since it released because it has so much value.... I'm currently blinking him with different spells and btw rusko + oracle of the alpha = insane amount of extra turns

Rusko has been my favourite release as a new commander in so long, even if he's an alchemy card. I've been testing him in every shell since he dropped.
So far my favourites are the one you've showecased here, which is a little of everything, and the one drop spam fest that is Micromancer, Displacer Kitten, and Vesuvan Diplomacy. It's a little less consistent, but when you include some one drop reanimator cantrips, it can just pop off out of nowhere.

Definitely way to fight it is to keep clearing clocks and leave rusko on the field or if possible destroy both. Played versus it with Minsk and boo and I kept focusing on clocks and chumped rusko until they were out of cards in hand and they just lost
Yeah I've fucked up a few rusko decks tempo with a well placed heliod's intervention then refusing to remove the rusko then just overrunning them w my creatures and truing my best to play around what mana they leave up lol
I'd love to get into Historic Brawl but... its so many wild cards for someone who only started half a year ago.
Blue/red aggro decks are usually very easy to build. You won't need many rares or mythics for it.

Could be fun to see him try something els then blue --> Paradox Enigine
The only Paradox Engine decks I respect are the Colorless ones. They have to work so much harder to pop off without Blue or Green card advantage.

You Know, I have been watching your streams religiously for nye on 3 years now - I thought Yorian was broken, this deck is out of control - Have to whole heartedly agree, that you will change the tempo and its abilities by removing dark ritual, but geez what a deck... havnt seen this broken since early 90s goblin turn 3 out of nowhere! You just sit there!!!
17:54 - I feel like in this state, you _should_ have memory lapsed the first sliver, but before the cascade trigger resolved - that way, the first sliver would be the top card of the deck and get punted to the bottom by its own cascade effect resolving :P
I've been playing a similar list by MTGGnome and it's been a blast. I recommend adding Panharmonicon.
I think the sliver deck was a Tibalt's trickery, where they cascade into TT and hit a bigger than 5 mana spell.
Nah, one of their slivers was only 2 mana.

Ran into a guy blinking Rusko yesterday. First time I'd seen the card. Unfortunately for him I realized early how bad it could be (because I read cards that I don't recognize) and set my Blast Zone to 3. Otherwise I would have gotten trounced.

There is a bug in the game where if you are adding mana from a mana rock to your mana pool while the opponent is conceding the game freezes.
I've started playing rusko, and it's definitely putting me up against bad decks
Man I wish they'd print that card in cardboard - I'd love to build an EDH deck around that - my goal is always to have the most hated deck at the table!
If you want to see how to break this card, check out what Mono Black Magic did with it. He had a lot of Midnight Clocks on the battlefield, and it was hilarious.

Great deck video, however, I noticed you playing with several cards that are not part of your opening deck pictures of what you are playing. It would be great if you added an update of what you took out to play the cards not in the original.

@@alirastafari Yeah I trounced him twice until I started playing against people keeping decent hands/ running better lists and I absolutely hate him. Its probably my least favorite deck to play against aside from golos/esika goodstuff.

I'm not a good player and I've still been winning soo much with this broken deck. Once I get the mana base growing, opponents just rage scoop as I rope out discovering everything I can still do with my turn. 😁

Alchemy is the herps of magic it infects every format it touches and leaves its mark forever. Then everyone playing isn’t playing because they love the format more like just playing because they currently aren’t having a flair up
i have Fear to build the deck. They will ban something from it right? That seemed way too strong
I've seen this commander a fair bit recently, probability because of cgb, and I don't think I've lost to it once. My decks aren't crazy broken or anything, I'm not playing Kinnan, Kenrith, Golos, or any of that S tier stuff. I guess I'm just playing against it right, or more likely, people are piloting it poorly.
Im not sure if its the same version but I won 4/4 vs this deck and the last two were so boring that now I just skip matches

What you think of putting in Helm of the Host?
It's 9 mana to make the first 7 mana worth of value (Rusko) if they don't have a removal spell. If you have enough good creatures to pair it with then it can be OK, but a Rusko list by nature should be pretty light on things to attach the helm to, and unless you have 9+ mana the turn you play it, it can be pretty clunky. VERY powerful engine when it is churning though so it could be wroth it in the right list

I run into the weirdest commanders with this. including a ugin witch mannaged to hit every single good colorless card ON PERFECT CRUVE then tap a mine for 4 mana without either of the two lands on the board so kinda sus

Paradox engine should be considered for historical brawl ban. Every time it enters the battlefield the game is over.
I think it's ridiculous they won't put Rampant Growth in Historic. Like it's okay to play a 2 mana fetch a basic land spell, but only for snow lands. I suppose they may want to keep redundancy of green land ramp down to reduce the consistency of Tatyova and such, but Historic Brawl is such a busted format already I don't think Rampant Growth would break it much further.

I’m going to be so sad when Paradox engine gets banned. I LOVE playing it. Do I want it to get banned? No Should it be banned? No. If you see Paradox engine hit the board and you don’t blow it up that’s your problem….okay…maybe it’s everyone’s problem 😂

Agreed about Dark Ritual and Wash Away, but not Paradox Engine. It increases competitive diversity by a heavenly lot, a ton of commanders can become competitive due to combos involving it
I've been playing with this deck for a week, encountered some mirror matches hahaha now with your video I guess its going to be Rusko then 👏🤣 Greatest fun I had in Arena in a while! Would never play this with actual cards, too much counters to keep track of!
Alchemy belongs in a dumpster, but you have my attention with a Commander that functions like Golos.
