- So Wellingborough Multi-story car-park renovation work is complete, Me and Leanne go to check it out. Yes its hard to see where the extra 2 million was spent but it defiantly look fresh and glittery lol
on a more recent adventure we also noticed that the snipers slot now has a window but i thought id leave that bit in the video tehehe
From Wellingborough, moved to Scotland 15 years ago and I can still smell the pee in those multi storey stairwells from here lol. Good work Purple, good childhood memories :)

I designed the murals for the previous refurb. I did a few quick sketches for my boss to take to committee and they adopted the ideas exactly as I sketched them. My favourite was the multi-coloured DM boot.

Loos look an improvement. And they painted over the mould near the lift area on the shopping floor. That was grim proper. U can polish a turd. 😂. The shopping centres supposed to be haunted. 👻
The ramps still look ridiculously small, when that car park was built cars were smaller, they should have widened the ramps.

That place hasnt changed much since i lived there. It was a shite hole then and it is still now. What you said about "polishing a turd" is quite right though i would add that applies to welly as a whole. esp the TC
Great video guys. I have stopped parking in there because its so difficult to get round the top of each ramp without damaging your wheels on those massive concrete curved curbs. Supposed they haven't even removed those?
Tbf, we were there Thursday (?) and the lighting as you drive in is 100% improved. We parked on 3rd floor and saw the power points on the way up (on the shopping centre side - yes, 4 is not enough if you are trying to persuade people to go green). If security has improved and prevents the stairwells reeking of pee, and fire system limits damage caused by cars being set alight, then there are positives. Maybe not value for money. I wonder if the books are available for public inspection? I thought there were structural repairs as well as a lick of paint. Is that not why the roof was closed for so long to start with ? I’d rather have it as it is now than before, but if it’s going to get abused, it won’t take long to revert back. i wonder who is managing/maintaining it ?? You picked a lovely day for it anyway. 💜💜
That top floor definitely hasn't changed much since 15 years ago, aside the jump barrier and some paint! Lifts and lobby haven't even been touched!
they have re surfaced the car park as there was loads of pot holes before and Tyres screeching on cars as they turn. the ramps are not as steep at the bottom as before as you can see the new seams at bottom ramp. i love hoe you mentioned Raunds cathedral. the people of Raunds would love that as it is a very small town more so a village. any opportunity to become a city!
I'm surprised they aren't charging to park.

Yes a lick of paint white paint to be precise very practical. It will need painting again in a month. Maybe self cleaning white paint has been invented over night.lol. xx

The powers that be think we’re stupid and won’t notice... That didn’t cost 4.8 million so where did the refurb money really go?
The total spent on this was actually £5.3 million. The ET was incorrect. I had attended the meetings. When they wanted to increase it from £2.6 million I spoke for my three minutes and begged that they spent it on measures to improve active travel. I asked if they could keep the cycle parking that was in here. When I go in the shops I used to lock my bicycle up. Instead they ripped them out and removed absolutely anything that I could attach my bicycle to. There used to be a shopping trolley area on Level 3. This has now gone. This was not value for money.
5.3million that's mental Sam. Complete rip off. Personally I think it's gonna become flats and that was prep for it.. but that's me guessing
no way that will become flats, especially when Jackson lane car has planning permission to be built on
Where are the electric car plugging points? 4 is not future thinking 🤪
we have 8 charging points at my works car park,just 4 points will put people off coming there's at least double that on Rushden lakes
At least it looks like those annoying Speed Bumps have gone. No doubt somebody got a nice little earner in a Brown Envelope. Money would be better spent on an A&E Department at Isebrook Hospital.
